This track is part of Legend Extended, a special 40th anniversary addition of Clannad’s classic soundtrack to the acclaimed 1980s TV series Robin of Sherwood. Released in 1984, the soundtrack worked well as a stand-alone piece and remained on the UK charts for the best part of a year. It garnered the group a BAFTA for Best Original Television Music. In addition to the original remastered album, the anniversary edition also features 11 bonus tracks, including "A Royal Procession", which were thought lost for over decade by Clannad’s Pól Brennan until, with the help of BMG, they were located in an ITV archive vault. These tracks have been mastered and produced by Pól Brennan.
Clannad are one of the most gently influential groups of the past five decades: in a world of noise and disruption, the outfit, which originated in County Donegal - a mysterious, joyous place, where rapture can be found in the everyday - remains a soothing balm, a place of retreat, calm in treacherous waters. Their story is one of family, friendship, landscape, folklore, and multi-platinum success on both sides of the Atlantic, their talent and mesmerising music awarded with Ivor Novello Awards, BAFTAs and GRAMMYs.

*I come from Poland, a country in the middle of Europe, and I remember watching Robin Hood when I was a teenager. Poland was just regaining its independence at the time. It was a miracle to watch the movie and listen to that wonderful music. You couldn’t even buy a Clannad cassette, so we had to record that beautiful music from the TV in mono. The whole of Poland knows Clannad.*
Moya told a story about playing in Poland, that the crowd refused to leave unless they played the RoS suite. It was one of the first Western shows that was shown after the fall of the Soviet Union and meant so much to them. They performed it then and during every concert ever since.
@@GrainneMhaol It's hard to explain. Poland wasn't an open country. Buying a Clannad tape was unrealistic. But everyone kept your music in their heads and today, approaching 50th, I still love the vocals and instruments. 40 years have passed and Clannad is still the jewel in the crown.

Spent my childhood there before immigrating to the States. Still fondly remember the TV programming there.
One of the best music groups mankind has ever experienced! They really inspired me to learn Celtic and Irish culture. I even tried to learn Irish once, but had to give it up because it's too hard to read and pronounce... But if I were Irish, I would definitely do my best to keep the language alive. It is a living heritage!

Watched the series in Channel 5, Venezolana de Televisión during happier times while in elementary school. Back then both Robin's Sherwood and Caracas felt like magical places.
