That crane started up easy! Lots of work left in that one I think. Nice one Steve. I enjoyed the video. Cheers from Canada.
Hi Jeff. She started great yesterday and has been used since
wish i could just take a stroll through a 50's worksite, see all this stuff brand new doing its thing, be interesting
It would be magnificent indeed mate. I’d come with you
@@stevesplacedownunder Me too
Happy days from Portugal, made my day
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks as always
@@stevesplacedownunder pleasure is mine Steve
Howdy 🤠 from the Northwoods of Minnesota.
Everyone have a blessed day
Beautiful mate thank you
It’s amazing how these old machines just seem to want to start. Good couple of days with a pressure washer and the machinery will be like new.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you mate. Yes they were certainly built to last
Cheers for filming it marra. No doubt you'd get it running but how many snacks were sacrificed?.
Hahaha.
Have a good weekend, SPDU crew.🍻
Actually had a coffee doing this one mate🤣🤣🤣. Was early in the morning with other tasks to get through after it
Cool
Nice bud good work
Top old crane steve.
We had an ex-RAF crane at the yard based on an old Major, bloody top heavy and dangerous it was on anything other than flat ground.
Im still here to tell the tale though🤣🏴🇬🇧
It is a good old crane mate. Yes some were dangerous, especially when turning or slewing. I have one the same as this and it isn’t too bad really. Not top heavy like the one you were using. They were over engineered some and added to the weight in a big way
Nice one Steve 👍
Thanks Nick
Another ripper Steve. Love seeing you working on these old girls cobber. Thanks mate.🤠
Hi Daryl. My pleasure mate
Morning Steve great video nice to see another bit of kit still able to do its job look forward to the next one
Yeah mate he’s been using it since this. Good old thing Keith. Very handy
Cool old tractor, nice to see one moving it's parts
Thank you mate. It is a good one indeed
Looked fine mate couldn’t tell what it was filmed on. Good to see another old big of gear alive again
Yeah it’s not bad footage at all off the phone. Less settings and buggaring around with batteries and memory cards too
G'day Steve ,
Thanks for another cool vid .
Ya just can't beat a couple of Aussie fellas having a chat about stuff .
The old crane was up to the task ,no worries,a drop of oil & she's as good as new.
Respect....!
That’s how we do it mate
Gday Steve, bloody handy machine to have around still, almost see it at your place one day, top job mate, cheers
Thanks Matty. Yes it is a handy one. I do have one the same, but without the rope. Handy old girl mate
Good morning Steve from Lincolnshire UK 🇬🇧
Hi Paul. Hope all is well over there mate
Started easy once you got her to spin over , just a little drama till it cleared the air in the fuel system . Thanks for the video mate, always good to see what going on there . 🌵
Hi Scott. Yeah that’s right. It didn’t take much at all really
Good to hear someone calling it rope as in wire rope as that is what it is, not cable but I don’t care what anyone calls it as I often do say cable also. I’ve seen hydraulics be slow and wine like that when intake screen is restricted.
Sounded low on oil, the higher the jib boom went the worse the whining?
Was full of oil but yes could be a suction screen blocked. Nothing is in a shed here so water and condensation this time of the year could be getting in
hey Steve i see the problem it needs a good wash😂😂😂😂
It certainly does
Thanks mate almost every small workshop and station had 1 or similar watched dad lift plenty of septic s out with the backhoe
Hi mate. Yeah, similar ones were everywhere years ago. We even had a tractor crane when I first started. Pulling apart earthmovers with it
Bruce suggested your channel - hello@!
Hello mate thanks for having a look. Hope you liked it
thank you video did at factor in 1974 lift motor and gen on the transport to other around australia
Thank you mate
Old bus there looks like the old action bus colours from Canberra steve
Yes, I noticed it too. An old AEC. They were already out of the fleet when I started at Belco back in 1984.
Yes mate then Cumberland bus lines I was told
The old Lindy
Yeah mate that’s right
Hay Steve it's another video and i'll watch it for sure it looks like the old girl was just weighing for someone to come along and wake her up from a long Nap runs nice and everything works on it as other chap say give her a barth in some degreaser and a pressure wash you wont recognize her
Big Cheers mate
Hi mate. Yes it’s always been a good one. It wouldn’t take a lot of work or maintenance to get it back to a reliable machine
Hey up mate nice to see another ozzy chamberlain working don't know about that SWL lift though
Yeah John it is good mate. She lifts very well for what it is. Handy old machine
Memories drove one them at store BHP it was new long time ago
Great old machine mate. Tough old girl
Thanks
Thank you Alex. Hope you are well mate. Amazing stuff mate
Steve, good to see the old girl working again. What is the counter weight filled with. Good video, jim
Hi Jim. Just a steel case with concrete in it mate
Hey nice, I've got one of these too! Mine's got a cab and the jib extension with the rope, but this one is a different setup to mine too. The paper mill I did my apprenticeship had one too, basically identical setup to mine with the cab etc. Very handy bit of gear with an experienced operator in the seat but I'm told very easy to tip over if you're not careful!
Hi mate beautiful stuff. Good to see more about. I have one with a cab but without the rope. An episode is coming up on that one
@@stevesplacedownunder Looking forward to it! I need to find a wrecked Chamberlain and get the hood off it, mine was already shit but I accidentally.... ran over it the other day 😅
I need one also for a tractor I have here. I’m sure they are around. I’ve put posts up looking for one but no replies
@@stevesplacedownunder Unfortunately the last tractor wrecker here in Tassie closed a few years ago. Though I do have a lead on an old fella with a paddock full of tractors that likes cash!
Looks dangerous . And fun .
I see you have had your ears lowered again Steve 😂
Yeah mate it had to happen
Another one for the collection or just helping the guy out? Cheers Evo...
Hi Evo. No mate just helped him get it going to use
That looks same as Gilbarco had same colour as well
It could have been something like it Ron. Not sure of the history of her
An the funny little crane said maintenance. I don't need no stinking maintenance
Super funny
Sounds like a bit of pump cavitation on the lift might be a clogged screen on the suction.
Hi mate yes probably was. Condensation or some sort of water entry perhaps
@@stevesplacedownunder yep agree absolutely! =]
Steve, Question: On the basses that providing you disconnect the loom, you can double the input to the starter for a short time, just to get it going. Is that also true for 24 volt, doubled to 48, or is there a limit? Can't see why there would be, and sounds a bit of a daft question to ask, but you never know until you know and i don't so i thought I'd ask the Boss.
Sadly, you can't get 24 v from a 12 v battery.
You probably could hit it with 24 but I don’t think it would last long. Hitting a 6 volt with 12 doesn’t hurt at all though. There were a few hot connections that needed looking at on it. I went around them all when connecting the jumper leads
Mate your dad should be relaxing in a retirement home -- not struggling to get this old rust heap going
Not my dad, and it keeps blokes active. You cant work all your life and stop and not tinker. If that’s what he wants to do then that’s what he will do. If you actually knew this bloke, and how he actually does relax, you wouldn’t have written this. He relaxes way more than what you see in this short video. Your comment is so far from how it actually is
@@stevesplacedownundergoodonya Steve top replied to a very stupid comment
@@stevesplacedownundergood on you mate keep doing your videos thank you so much
