I must have watched this video 100 times in a row to figure out playing this song... I need to practice more. Lovely playing, Mike. Cheers from the Shenandoah Valley in VA.
Oh I SEE! It’s not that Jerry’s a genius, the instruments are just that good. I’m kidding of course, but what a beautiful instrument. And you play it superbly.
If I had a few grand to sink into a reso, my first choice would be one made by Paul Beard. I play a OMI Dobro D-60 which I had Paul work on and she's a kicker! Paul is my go-to guy for anything resophonic!
+alphasxsignal You too?? LOL! And how old are you?!?! LOL! It's a grade school song sung as a learner melody. It's "SHENANDOAH"! it's emotionally haunting when played on the dobro!
These are great guitars! No sure if they are still doing it, but Beard gave a discount code for my classes on www.pegheadnation.com with every guitar. Try code "MikeLand" for a free month.
Pushing against to hold them in place. The inserts are the Fishman Nashville pickup. Beard developed the spider with he screws specifically for the pickup.
Just saw an interview with Jerry Douglas and Shane Theriot in 2024 and Jerry has fine tuners on the bridge of his Beard guitar. ruclips.net/video/CRuDtQ78t5c/видео.html
+Thomas Hassell How old are you!? LOL! That's a song we all sang in elementary school for years! "SHENANDOAH"! It's especially emotional when played on the dobro!

Sweet instrument.

Are those spider bridge screws going through the inserts or are they just pushing against the inserts?
Pushing against to hold them in place. The inserts are the Fishman Nashville pickup. Beard developed the spider with he screws specifically for the pickup.
Beautiful Mike! What kind of thumb and fingerpicks are you using?
Thanks! Blue Chip thumb picks are my current preference.
What brand bar are you using?
Beard 20/10
So nice....

Great interview. The fine tuners you are referring to is a device called the Hip Shot Double Shot.
Mike, what song were you playing in the intro?
+Thomas Hassell How old are you!? LOL! That's a song we all sang in elementary school for years! "SHENANDOAH"! It's especially emotional when played on the dobro!
Supernatural sound, heaven seven.
The arrow is good
but The Indian is better
Beautiful Mike!!!
Thanks Jaret!
I thought I always saw jerry play a Sheerhorn, however it is spelled. I pay a Gold Tone Beard. It does everything I could ask of it.
Jerry Douglas played a Scheerhorn as his main guitar from around 1990 to 2004-5.
I believe that it is a rendition of Shenandoah or Across the Wide Missouri. I could be wrong, usually am. Ask my wife.
+Ben Holle "SHENANDOAH"! Another young fella I presume!!?!! LOL!!!
That's wonderful but for Us BEGINNERS it Doesn't help at All
