- We have spent the last couple of months getting Atticus ready to be our off-grid family home. And while we’ve tackled some pretty sexy projects lately, not all projects are quite as life changing….
But we are making serious progress on finishing our to-do list and in another month or so we plan to say goodbye to Malta and set off over the horizon with our newest crew member in tow and we’ll get a chance to test out all of these awesome new improvements. But there’s still a lot more work to be done.

I agree, the new hairstyle suits Desiree perfectly! 🥰
Dude, when you're in project mode you're an animal! Very impressive what you are able to get done and the quality of workmanship. Thanks for sharing.
Isabella is just the cutest baby & getting so big. Those nets for toys would work great on the boat. Jordan how about a bit of screen material on the inside of the battery cabinet to hide the holes a bit more. Desiree just love your short hair, so much easier too with a new baby.❤
Desiree love the hair! Great video. I know your world has changed. You are doing a great job. New parenting is surprisingly hard at first, but energy comes back and every stage is different. Nothing ever stays the same. Treasure each moment- my baby is 30 now! Love you guys! Be safe!
Our printer is one of the best investments on our boat. Might have to secure Bub and let her scream while you have to do the necessary assistance for the boat, just tell yourself it’s good for her singing career to exercise the lungs so it doesn’t tug on the heart strings to much 😊
Hi Jordan. You could have that locker grill printed out on 3D printer to exact dimensions you need. Good luck guys.
All I can say, is that I love you guys and I think Isibella looks a little like her grandfather. 😊.
We loved the long hair (best hair on YT), but new moms need to shake things up, have a fresh outlook, and do something nice for themselves. After all, mothers have the most important job on Earth. Looks great, and kudos to Jordan for not freaking out but rather complimenting Desirae, who deserves every bit of praise. I love the projects, partly because I'm following along without having to do anything. Projects are all preparation, like prepping a housepainting job, preparation is 60% of the job. And nobody said ever that parenting is easy. You just make adjustments and get better at it.
I think I was smiling through 3/4 of the episode. Between the happy baby cameos and Jordan’s comments and successes it was just a feel good episode. I’m so happy for you that all these projects are paying dividends in easing your life and boat handling. Keep up the great work.
Sometimes you just have to let them cry 😢, just keep a close eye on her. I have raised four and all turned out more or less normal 😁
^ this.
Put her somewhere safe and then do what you need to do. The crying hurts the parents more than the baby. She will be fine for a few minutes. Promise.
Totally agree, it will safely train the baby to not expect to be picked up instantly and self soothe. You are doing a great job, new babies only get more difficult welcome to parenthood tiredness and fatigue awaits you...❤🩹
Yes it teaches self soothing
I think it was awesome that Desiree got some 'me time' and some pampering with the trip to the salon and the cut looks awesome on her.
If you run a router around the holes on the charger door and stick some fly screen to the inside it would look pretty good without buying a vent
Unfortunately, I am not a DIY type of guy. I am so impressed by your ability to do so many things that involve plumbing, electrical and technology. Well done!
Jordan you are a boat project machine! Desiree looks like she definitely has her hands full! Both of you guys are legends and crushing it!
RAN sailing had the greatest baby carrier in the cockpit when Vera was little. Check it out on their episodes about 3 years ago. It was such a safe place to have the baby close by when all hands are needed.
This may be one of your finest videos! The editing and music, the pacing and the camera work all are exceptional. Despite the length of your project to-do list and the demands of your newest crew, I sensed a new calmness and ability to work through the challenges that is wonderful to see. And, as if that wasn’t enough, the new hair style is beautiful! I love this channel even more, now!
Your new haircut looks so beautiful Desiree! 🤩
Always watching your videos and enjoying them but never commented. But when I saw Baby Izabella's passport, I had to comment. It was the most precious and cutest thing! 🥰
Awesome work Jordan!! Very nice to see mom having some spa time! Looking great Des! Starting to see you all settle in and get a routine!!
SHE is adorable!!! PROUD of y'all!!!
More cool boat projects by the Mac Daddy! Sprinkled with a little geekism too! Thanks for the update! ⛵️
What a lucky man you are Jordan! Two beautiful ladies and the little one even managed a post vax smile. She's a trooper just like her mom and dad!
You should get one of those jumper things. I forget what it's called it mounts in a doorway. My children loved it. They sit in it, but their legs are dangling so they can jump.
Pro tip...
Always wrap teflon tape clockwise so the tail end faces away from the fitting rotation. This helps include the tape within the thread mating surface and prevents shedding the tape during tightening.
Dig your set up!
Isa is growing so fast! I would highly recommend making sure you have a safe place to put her down securely in an emergency. There may be times that you simply cannot hold her and do what needs to be done immediately. She will be okay crying for a few minutes. She may even learn how to soothe herself - my kids did. I know it's hard to listen to the crying, but it's part of life. She will be fine! :)
All the upkeep you do on the boat is ideal maintenance. You fix potential problems before they happen. That's how the world should work.
Desiree's haircut is an improvement.
You three and Oso are awesome. I so enjoy your coping skills and your openness to having others help. I continue to learn from your projects. Thanks for sharing your family journey. Rick @ SV Tune Cat
The last minute of this one is why we all love you guys. You're just good people, amazing story tellers, and tender hearts...damned good filmmakers too!
I like your problem solving Jordan, excellent job on all those projects mate.💪. Iza is coming along leaps and bounds too. What a cutie. And your hair looks fantastic 👍. Yours too Desiree😆. Thanks for another enjoyable episode guys. Stay safe.
Sailboats and projects hand in hand. The new hair style looks great.
You and Keith from Sailing Zatara are two of the smartest men. You both can just about do any type of work on the boats.👍🏼
I have always been impressed with your attempt to minimize risk, i.e. the difficult task of replacing your hoses.
It gets a lot easier (and you're better) at around 18 months. By 2 years, it's a blast.
When baby smiles she looks like Des! And your new hair do suits you. I et you feel like a million bucks ... for a minute. Don't worry, it'll get better every day.
After the birth of isabella; you’ll seem to be going to hard times, considering the condition, she presented. Now I just have to congratulate you three + for cooping with all changes. I am glad that you have found the support of all these technologies applied to your needs and support from real good people.
Just want to say. I think you are both doing a super job as parents to your two little ones. Besides having incredibly difficult tasks. My hat is tipped to you both. I'm glad Desiree was able to have a little time. You look super. Jorden looks nice too. I truly wish you all four all the best.
You both are great parents. Love the way you are there for your baby. You are sending a message to her that she is loved.. What great parenting. Great video. Fantastic haircut. And Jordan a skilled man. 🎉
Big guy is always smiling.
Dig the rock and blues boatwork montage !
Love your videos, and this one was no exception!! Beautiful boat, beautiful family, beautiful life!!
Jason you’re looking for a vent, but give some thought to having a door made with louvre instead. It would give good ventilation and also look smart.
Love your channel and always eagerly wait for the latest update. Cheers Chris from Western Australia.
Good morning guys. I used to get all wound up to try to finish things on my schedule. Quite honestly it caused me a lot of stress. Until one day I met this Frenchman. His name is Jean Luc and he gave me some of the best advice an older man could give a younger man.
“What I do not do today. I’ll do tomorrow “.
Jean Luc will never sue of a stress related heart attack. 😂
Thanks for another great video.
Little trick for when you don’t have a paper template, you can make your own if you have access to either a scanner or a copy machine, just scan or copy the back of whatever you need mounted.
What a great little sailor Isabella is turning out to be. You're both doing a great job adapting to parenthood and remember every hurdle conquered is one less on the list! 😊
So glad things are coming together making it better for the three of you ... I am so looking forward to the future of your RUclips show ... and seeing baby girl grow up . 😊😊😊
Wow it’s been six months that you guys have been in Malta. How time flies when you’re having fun.
Way to go ahead and tackle a lot of boat projects. Great work, fitting into all the tight places to repair and replace items can be frustrating. But you seem to have a great attitude which I am sure helps. Great story narration, a always look forward to your videos.
I smiled through the entire video. I appreciate how the two of you are able to put together your videos to make them fun, informative, and relatable. At the end of each video I feel I have “kinda” been there with the 4 of you. As alway have fun be safe and see you next week,
Yep, that hose was toast. Nothing like a burst heater hose while out cruising miles from civilization!
Gotta massage those puppies to break up the clogg. My wife had those issues at first, but the Colostrum milk the first few months gives the baby all of Moms natural immunities. Best thing a Mother can do for a baby is Breastfeeding!!
Dear SPA family, can't wait to see when you start sailing again. Amazing all the work both Jordan and Desiree are achieving, number one with Isa. Lots of energy and good vibes! Abrazos, all the way from Panama. 💙
Next time instead of drilling large holes, you could possibly find a local carpenter who could router a few 1/4 inch slots in the door essentially making the door a grille. It would be just as effective and a lot less noticeable.
Desiree, your new hair suits you! We also have a printer onboard because between documents and homeschooling, it just makes sense to have it. Great job on the recent DIY jobs Jordan, you've been a busy bee!!
Just a thought about those holes in that door you could use some black screen cut to go over it and then staple it on. Then put some trim around its edge. This will give you two little black rectangles, and the trim would cover up the raw edge of the screen. A second option would be to make your holes, larger and rectangular. Then put slats in. Just some thin strips of wood at an angle. I’m sure you’ve seen a door with slats in it, you might even have one on your boat if not more.
Good to see you finding the new normal. New haircut looks stunning. Great job the 2 of you.
Love the new haircut Desiree! Looks so much better and I am sure easier to take care of than the long version!
I just love u guys. Baby Isa ❤❤❤❤ melts me. God bless you all.
Totally loved this episode, guys ❤ Happy to see all the determination concerning projects. And, the new hair on the 1st Mate is fabulous ‼️See you next time.✨🌊🌬⛵️🏝👙🌞✨
2.5K+ subscriber LIKE; 21,956th desktop travel-mate view. Still glad you manage to capture and share some drone footage, even when other stuff gets messy.
4:54 - you really are acquiring some serious MacGyver skills... all those tools, gadgets, widgets, and gear. "You're gonna need a bigger boat." (nah, just kidding.)
While on maternity leave, I had to put the wee one in the crib and go do it. They cried, but I knew they were safe, and yes it pained me to hear them cry, but sometimes being able to take a shower was soooo important. Preventive maintenance for myself. : )
Sometimes babies just need to cry. It was always much harder on me than my son but he's just fine and can really sing! Great job on the projects! Never hurts to fix things before they break and you are where you can get parts. That ventalation will save you a lot of grief. BTW: love the new dew!
Amazing "Get er Done.... Right" episode (I add "Right' to the saying cause it's not enough to just get er done)... from all the projects done sooo right... baby playing more to a new and just beautifully RIGHT hair look!! 😊 Cheers all round!!
Preventive maintenance is a must. It was something I tried to incorporate into our tasks as a master mechanic throughout the years. Something simple as remembering to check hose clamps every so often to make sure they stay secure, especially after installing new hoses, once a year seemed adequate, chafing, proper routing.
That was awesome to see you get help during the fueling. As always, when one project hits a wall, move on to the next. Parenting is such a joy, never a dull moment. Stay safe folks.
In the Air Force, preventive maintenance was most of the job, but repair had to be fast to get an aircraft back in the air. Maintenance was scheduled as were total breakdown inspections which took weeks in some cases.
16:29 - the Daddy's Girl moment. That's what it's all about.
I like the reference to a beer coozie to explain the head liner separation problem. You guys really know your audience. 🙂
Happy belated birthday Desiree 🎉 and congratulations to your entire family for great success 🎉
Something very heartening about boat projects. Loving that hair too 💙💙
Iv raised three sons to manhood and I say this with the utmost of respect and understanding as a parent but it turns out you can actually put your child down in a safe place and if they cry for a bit that don’t melt away! Who knew! There fine!….lol go get some work done she’ll still love you when your done ! Lol…..new parents I tell ya! Lol
Your dual AIS Installation should make it much safer for you two and Isabella. Good to see you made that move. Redundancies will likely be important for future adventures. Enjoy Beautiful Isabella.
Nice work Jordan! Happy Birthday Mom!! Your hair looks 🔥 girl! Isra’s passport is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! Thanks for sharing! Cheers
Aww gee whiz this was a good one you too. Eza is really starting to grow. She'll be Manning the boat before you know it😀 gosh darn you did a heck of a lot there Jordan. Desiree, gosh you look better with your hair done. Makes you look 10 years younger, honest Injun. Nothing ever stays the same but you just have to adjust. Sweet little baby. You both will adjust and take it in stride. Love you both and watched you from the beginning. Thank you so much and catch you next time, bon voyage.
God has blessed you with a child. Life is always always better with children. You all will figure it out. Enjoying the channel. Tks for sharing.
Jordan, great job installing the hose system and the vhf radio. You are absolutely correct, certain things are easier to do in your younger years. Lol. Desiree, your salon cut came out fantastic! Looking great! 😊. Isa is looking more beautiful with every video. Be well, be safe. Cheers 🍻
Awesome chapter! Isa is looking better and better. And l can see you very very happy. And your hair cut is beutiful❤❤
It always amazes me how many projects there are...great job✌️💜
Des your hair looks great! Awesome mom present, good for you. Gotta say y’all are doing great things and Isa is such a blessing her presence has definitely helped to make you guys more conscientious sailors 😂 stay safe, fair winds and following seas!
Another absolutely splendid episode technically and by way of being informative.and entertaining. I like the hairstyle. if you ever get bored (or even if you don't) read up on the seige of Malta and the battle of Lepanto in the book Battle by Sea
Hello fam of 4, today I just noticed how much Baby Issa is looking 100% like Jordan's mini me! Great job you are both doing don't be so hard on yourselves! 😉
So great to have such wonderful crew from the marina.
agree its a hard job to be sure safe and secure youre just great have to hand it to you with all this safety security wires, youre great and i wish you all the luck safety for your travels with that little munchkin of Isabella !! buon viaggio in salvamento !!!
You're doing an amazing job! Sounds crazy, my babies hated being front carried, but when they were old enough, they loved hanging out on my back. 🤷🏻♀️ Little weirdos. Your hair looks amazing! ❤
Omygosh Desiree I absolutely love your hair. Wow it’s so beautiful and you’re such an amazing mom. Congratulations on the new hairstyle. It looks stunning.
PeaceAndLove
Lori
Sometimes you gotta let ‘‘em cry…we had two girls and two boys.😢. Also that is easier said than done. Thanks guys! You guys are great 👍
Regarding your battery charger cupboard, have you looked at soffit button vents, they come in different sizes and colours and may be a quick temporary/permanent solution. Great to see your all doing well and the boatwork continues.
Ahhhh you guys are so sweet ❤ safe sailing Atticus 🎉
Gorgeous hair cut, wow!! Great video guys, you're really embracing parenthood & boat life. You can do it. I think you guys rock 🤗💞
Heaven have mercy, what a stunning beauty. Love the hair!
As you learn about parenting, you will be able to determine what crying requires immediate response and when you can let it go, which in time allows the baby to adjust to fewer episodes of crying. It is a balance that sometimes takes the time till a second child to figure out the balance. You guys are making a great team, so you will get there…. Nice to see you living life.
We found our scanner printer most handy with documents and making friends with islanders that needed official documents copies for kids schools etc. I came to realize that the wind and seas will still be there tomorrow, next week and so on. No hurries makes cruising and living onboard a lot more enjoyable and less stressful.
Do you ever use the digital memory bearing device? Steady winds…
It’s amazing how something minor can become super critical once underway and well into the deep blue. Everything electronic gives off heat and can be destroyed by its own heat. You can install very quiet computer case fans such as (two of the best fans) Be Quiet and/or Noctua. You might hear moving air but not the fans. In computer cases the fans are setup in a push and pull fashion allowing constant fresh cool air to pass over each component surface(s) and pulls the generated heat away from each component out into the room. It’s a cheap solution that uses very little power. In a situation where only one fan can fit set the fan to push air onto the electronic(s). Have a great week everyone!
You guys are great, so enjoy watching your things that you do❤🎉❤
LOL! Yes, everything physical is allot easier in your 20's. Now when I'm approaching 50 I can say for sure that everything starts to hurt when I move around.
Hey, Jordan. That new crew member who took Desiree's place is STUNNING!!! ;-)
I don't remember what THAT was about, but I'm only at 19:34. At that point in the video, a church was shown that looked WAY too familiar. Could that BE La Merced in Antigua, Guatemala? I lived about two blocks from there for almost a year. I don't remember your being that far inland.
OHHHH, it was a reference to Desiree's gorgeousness after getting her hair cut. ;-)
Good job on the ventilation enhancements. Heat kills electronics and you guys have a lot of stuff to protect.
Hey, good thing you found the mold when you did. Good thing it wasn't any worse than it was. Cool going on the wiring too, my friend. Wired and hoses need periodic maintenance too. You are doing really well with everything. Stay safe and you have a very cute baby, too!! Lol.
Wiring and hoses, I meant...
Glad things are working out for you guys. Therese from Malta
I have two NAS's installed at home. One I use as a backup for important files, the other as a media server with videos, movies, pictures and music on it. Both are Synology. It is a good idea to keep them cool, and I also have a Seagate 8Tb backup hub drive that is another layer of safety and I had to use it to restore files on more than one occasion. This is your personal "cloud". I love the way they work, easy to use, easy to access, a great option.
Hi Jordan just an idea that popped into my head watching this. The cover you drilled the holes into instead of looking for vent grills how about those old style drawer pulls that were brass and covered over. you would put your hand into them to pull the drawer out. They would hide the holes and allow air flow at the same time.
Nice smiles from your baby.
Jordan I highly recommend using Velcro instead of tie wraps. Nothing drives more nuts than tie wraps.
