Seeing the way you two talk about these kiddos warms my heart. You’re just glowing! No matter where these kids have been in life - you both loving them so fiercely is going to make such a huge, positive, impact on them.
You will often find kids from difficult family situations will be hyper vigilant in order to keep themselves safe. So they notice any little change in their enviroment or in people or changes in routine.
Everything you do with and around the kids are all teaching moments. Parents and foster parents are the kids first teachers. Your doing great. Congratulations.
God Bless you both! My husband and I have been following your travels (and still watching the old ones during the Pandemic). It's been so helpful ☺. What GREAT parents you are! We have not been blessed with children but both of you have been such an inspiration on us!!! Looking forward to your next video.
WIC doesn't use store brand formula because they need to provide for all areas and not all stores are in all areas. Some people are limited to stores within walking distance, so whatever they cover needs to be available at every store.
I love this video. The love you have for these kiddos is amazing 💓 Thanks for sharing how your first month went. How crazy is it that I start your foster care videos during Foster Care Awareness month.💜
So glad I found this channel! We were licensed 2.5 years ago, and adopted our first placement of a newborn and toddler. We then closed our license. We had a very different experience than most. I love the different experiences.
Aww 🥰 thanks for sharing your story! Yeah, we are excited to foster and love the idea of reunification with their birth parents, but know that in some cases it doesn’t work and in that case, adoption is just so beautiful 🥰💗💙
I know this is a few months past this video, but I have an idea for the sticker situation. Maybe instead of the sticker being the exciting part, maybe try giving D an award when she fills up a line of stickers. This would give her extra motivation in order to want to get a sticker. Also, it will give her the extra satisfaction rather than waiting until the end of the paper since she is so young!
If you adjust the exasaucer down so he can be flat footed instead of tippee toes, he can push , bounce and spin more. Push in green tab in blue base and push down 1 level. WIC contracts with the formula maker and is rebid periodically. You can ask WIC when the contract is up. Here, it bounces between Similac and other brands. Usually not recommended to go back and forth between formulas (Gerber and Parent Choice) especially if he was breastfed before, it can upset their tummies.

So awesome. We had a 6 -month-old boy placed in our home last year he has since returned home but he was the same way by wanting to be held but finally discovered the Wiggles on Netflix they drive me crazy after a while but he would watch that for hours.

4 things, all good things. Parents giving all the sweets... Oh man, divorced and similar situation between homes, but just a suggestion, don't know biological parents' situation, but if they are trying to just give, sure you understand, either keep for rewards or surprise for when they not meeting saying mommy sent this, or if you pooh on potty, mommy gave this and we saved especially to give to you because all so proud. 2. Peter acting like dad, normal busy, not too bad, Lisa, typically more and more and more, mom guilt, it's why it's a blessing to have 2 adults, but you will feel super exhausted because you probably never stop thinking, some people better at switching on and off, wish I could do that. 3.look into the different places in the family, 1st child, second etc. We were 2 girls and boy, I'm middle, nothing nothing scientific about this, but I was more stubborn, refused to wear dresses, always been different, and sis and I'm super close, but it's worth looking into, second girl is perhaps putting her stamp on life, this is me!!! 4. Sounds like she can count correctly, sounds like going for 8 on purpose to get Peter's reaction. 😂. You must be vigilant, these little ones sounds a whole lot savvy than most of us, it's just the way it is, and you would want them to be, but it kinda creeps up on you, they are good man, they are Uber good, they catch all of us. 5. Oops a 5, visitation times should work for all, especially kids. I share custody and one night out all back to square one, it's natural, but perhaps talk to social worker/ mediator and have it on sat morning, or midweek and have fed and bathed at 6, 6.30. It's not perfect but just a suggestion what we did so they get time to calm down before bedtime. Use all of above or none. Rooting for the 3 kiddos, glad they are thriving
If I didn't have my situation, I've always wondered about it, and seeing you guys, absolutely convinced, you are giving them stability and hope and confidence, they can conquer the world with that. And although foster parents, you are 1million percent THE parents for now so we get it, it's hard, harder even, but as parents we take little rewards, I'm imagining, cannot even fathom, what if these kids turn out ti be balanced, loving friends, loving parents, wow, you will be so proud. You've helped push them towards reaching their potential, and they do sound smart so sure when parents have more day to day when able, these kiddos are smart, really smart, and they will built on that, so will school, just need stability, love and safe environment for now, they will thrive and perhaps even help each other and family. One month! Man, you 2 were really born to do this.
I’ve been a foster-Dad for the last 8 years in Australia (about 13 kids over the years). The older kids behaviour will be good at first because they don’t know you. After they feel safe with you, then you might see some more challenging behaviours? The candy thing is stupidly normal. Your house, your rules. Other parents house, their rules. Often I’ll let the kids eat it all at once and just get it over and done with as quick as possible. The birth parents probably won’t want to see these videos (or comments); as nice as you are, this could backfire on you a thousand ways. I’d love to be wrong, but my greatest happiness and greatest sadness I cant tell the world about. You now live in a fishbowl. Honestly, foster parents need this kind of outlet as a form of support, but I would urge you to depersonalise the videos a lot unless your case manager and lawyers are ok watching this without objections to any legal cases before the courts. Sounds normal that you didn’t get enough information on raising foster kids from agencies, but also the birth parents may not be getting the same level of support to get their kids back either. I watched every minute (sped up). Are you required to do circle of security training or first aid? Choking is a silent condition - had to save my baby 3 times, once so badly I was scared she was dying and we called an ambulance (but I saved her while on phone to them, she’s all good - whew). Do they perform safety inspections of your home? Good luck, enjoy the craziness!
Thanks for your comment! I like the idea of having them eat the candy all at once. Just have one sugar day 😂 Thanks for your recommendations about depersonalization in future videos. Some people involved in their case know about these videos, but yeah I would hate to have anything backfire. Yes to become foster parents we had first aid & CPR training, foster care classes and home study inspection.
It was actually good because he had been spitting up a lot with different formulas, we had found one that worked better and then when I talked to our WIC dietician, she recommended “Gerber Soothe” which had worked good too. The difference is that it’s so much more expensive, but it is covered by WIC
@@HappyHoppe no I meant it is sad that he was on breast milk then had to be switched to formula. Wish his momma could have pumped and gave u breast milk to keep feeding him some amount of breast milk. But yes switching to different formula is necessary to find what works best for babies tummy. U guys r doing everything right, keep up the good work
I know you all are so happy to be blessed with kids in your house and aiming for reunification but I am so so sad for the family they are missing this time.
Get her a doll that pees. She's only allowed to make it pee after she goes. So she can carry it around with her all day, then when she goes pee the doll does the coolest thing-it goes pee too! And it's a reminder that she wants to go to the bathroom because she's playing with it and feeding it all day long.
A great parenting book for foster parents is Connected Parenting. Love and Logic is honestly awful and is not logical AT ALL. Nor is it trauma informed.
Thanks for the recommendations! Yeah we just finished going through Love and Logic and agreed with most of the things, but some advice was a little out there 😂
I'm mixed on that. Clearly the parents need nutrition and health classes but, getting onto them for trying to do for the kids is like a slap in the face. We're a sugar free kid zone but that's a personal choice for people.
@ Melissa R. , The Hoppes are good people and I'm sure they had a nice discussion with the parents, not one that was like "you can't give your kids sugar" more like would you please consider the amount of sugar based treats you give them and only give one each to take back with them after your visits with them. It's a parenting skills option learned through "Love and Logic Parenting".
Seeing the way you two talk about these kiddos warms my heart. You’re just glowing! No matter where these kids have been in life - you both loving them so fiercely is going to make such a huge, positive, impact on them.
Also, just want to say I love the idea of sending notes to the parents. I love the way yall have that open communication with the kids family.

I'm surprised due to confidentiality reasons that the CASA is sharing information with you about the case. Not allowed where I live.

I know you all are so happy to be blessed with kids in your house and aiming for reunification but I am so so sad for the family they are missing this time.
Yes, I get it. Foster care is sad that kids can’t be with their parents 😔 we are happy to love on these kids until reunification happens 💗💗💙
did you know that bananas are berries but strawberries aren't

Who are the couple of weirdos that don’t like this video? What is there not to like?
Get her a doll that pees. She's only allowed to make it pee after she goes. So she can carry it around with her all day, then when she goes pee the doll does the coolest thing-it goes pee too! And it's a reminder that she wants to go to the bathroom because she's playing with it and feeding it all day long.
That’s a cute idea! Thankfully potty training caught on and she’s pretty much trained except sleeping time 👏
A great parenting book for foster parents is Connected Parenting. Love and Logic is honestly awful and is not logical AT ALL. Nor is it trauma informed.
Thanks for the recommendations! Yeah we just finished going through Love and Logic and agreed with most of the things, but some advice was a little out there 😂
Wayyyy too much candy, sugar high! Thanks for staying on top of that and saying, please stop!
Yeah, it’s been great now! Communication is definitely the key 😀
