    I did the old screw driver trick on my.old bosses countax mower just shredded it 🙈 took ages to get the ring off ad to chisel and hack it off but I still won LOL

    We used to use a Hacksaw blade the for plugs and a cigarette packet cardboard for points. I think you will find they are near the perfect thickness.

      @@Involvod No , when young was standard procedure . Lol from memory a hacksaw blade is 25 thou and cigarette packet 16 thou. Keep up the good work,

    Oh those rebel air filters. I'm so tired on how difficult it is to make them go back that I'm now just taking the hose out and cleaning the MAF sensor on yearly basis when I service my Volvo. And yes, I change the air filter every time, waste of money but peace of mind. Greetings from Argentina.

      I struggle even when removing the hose as the power steering pulley is in the way! I think next time I might just lift the whole air box out 😄

    What a title :-) As you know the engine you are ok to use a screwdriver on the filter but I have come across the odd car with a tube up the middle of the filter attached to the block!!! That said I bet a few didn't know that technique also the 2 spanners.

      I can't picture that! But yeah it's generally not the best practice, but the double spanner trick is very useful especially if you can't fit a breaker bar in there.

      @@Involvod Can't remember the car but the thread where the filter screwed on was internal at the bottom of filter as far from seal as possible! So instead of a short thread on the block it was a long tube with a thread at the top. Very weird it was.

      That's a great idea! Hopefully the odometer works on this car, they are common to fail. Lili the 244 only counts miles when she feels like it

    I prefer to use a masonry chisel on my oil filters. :)

    Only one problem with using a screwdriver to remove an oil filter. If the filter is REALLY stuck and you can’t get it off you have just prevented yourself from driving the car. A better way is take a small chisel and strike the metal ring at the base of the filter. (Hope that made sense) Cracking video. Great work!

      Yeah especially when it cuts through the filter Godfather 2 style, then that's when your technique would come in handy. I think for the sake of 5 bucks it's better to use the tool if possible 😄 Thanks glad you enjoyed the vid!

    When you loosened the oil drain plug, did you put in a new ring that goes between the screw and the drain plug, to make sure there isn*t a leak , I would always do that when I changed the oil ,so I don*t have to worry.

      That's a good idea to do that, I checked this one and it was in great shape so I reused it, that reminds me, I need to order a copper washer assortment box!

    Hey. Great video. Good to see some 240 content and some work on Ruby ;). I need to do oil change on mine too. I'm considering an engine flush before that. What's your opinion on engine flush products? Thanks!

      Thanks! I avoid those products, the most I would do is 2 oil changes close together, if there's crud built up in the engine and a flush loosens it all up it can cause issues 😏 It's never happened to me but I've heard a few horror stories..

    Went to change the oil in my 240 (New to me, it was my dad's) and accidentally drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil. I didn't realize at first because it was black

    You should never bang a spark plug on its electrode tip! Use the correct gapping tool!
    The unconnected tube at the air filter box is before the air mass meter and will not affect the running of the engine.

      Cheers! I did my apprenticeship (well most of it) then went on to other things, doing it every day took the fun out of it 😅
