    In todays studio vlog we try and adapat and press new tote bags buying in some DTF printing transfers. After last weeks vlog where we realised DTF printing wasn't going to work for us, we decided we still loved the quality and wanted to press them in our studio!
    So after a big autumn product launch we get to work on printing and pressing all the new apparel tote bags and package them and also try out our new cricut mini press & unbox our new stationery stickers!
    I hope you enjoyed this vlog!
    YOU DA BEST
    Love,
    Catherine

    As someone who works in the apparel decorating industry I highly recommend getting a semi automatic press. They’re a little pricey, but you’ll get consistent time and pressure with every press and it’s a lot less strain on your shoulders. Also: be careful with that cricut iron. Most heat transfers don’t work well with the cricut presses because of the inconsistent pressure during application. I know people who have and do make it work, but if you’re going to keep pressing large quantities using the full size press might make it a lot easier.

      I agree with you on the Cricuts! After using standard heat presses for years, I had no choice but to use a Cricut press when I had an operation on my hands. Wow, I really noticed the difference in quality and consistency.

      @@KatnippStudios I have an auto open with pullout draw from Singnzworld for £400 it has been a great work horse for 2 years.
      if you can afford it, the hotronix auto open with digital pressure is great when pressing different thickness. I make metal sheets, bags and hoodies, so I am constantly having to adjust the pressure and testing if it's correct before starting work.

    Firstly, you and Dean are looking AMAZING! It was so cute that Dean stopped and gave you a kiss, during your day at the office. Feeling healthier really makes life better. I’m so happy that you’re getting into a better sleep schedule, too.
    The tote bags look gorgeous and with the print already to go on the bags, it looks so much easier and faster to do. Good move to take that step off your plate!👏🤩

    Hey! I have some tips for your plant.
    1) They require a high volume of water, but at the same time you don't want to overwater. This plant thrives in a humid environment, so being indoors where it's drier, the soil is likely to lose water quicker. The soil needs to be watered any time you stick the tip of your finger inside and the soil feels dry. Don't keep it fully wet all the time or this will lead to rot. That's why the finger test is important because a dry top doesn't necessarily mean it needs water. If you start losing leaves, it's a sign that you're going too far in either direction. Not watering enough if the soil is consistently dry, or watering too much if it's consistently moist.
    2) They need lots of sun! Direct sun-light for about a quarter of the day is preferred, but if you can have it setting by a window that gets good light/heat exposure from the sun for about 6-8 hours a day, that's fine too. Just don't let it get sunburned if you do the direct sunlight method.
    3) I think your pot might be a smidge too small for it. :(

    • @KatnippStudios
      @KatnippStudios  2 года назад +1

      Ooooo thank you so much ❤ these tips are amazing I hope I can keep it alive I think I need to change the pot 😂

    • @user-oz7gc9bi7w
      @user-oz7gc9bi7w 2 года назад +2

      Agreed, the pot could probably be bigger :) it gives the roots room to grow, and the plant to grow bigger. I believe fiddle leaf plants grow quite big

    • @MsRinda
      @MsRinda 2 года назад +3

      As an aside, don't be too upset if it does end up giving out :') unfortunately fiddle leaf figs are known to be real divas. They don't like being moved, hate drafts, they're very sensitive to pests, etc. Shame because they're just so gorgeous 😭 I hope yours pulls through!

    With the Cricut mini press, it works best if it's moving the whole time. Just slow movements, but it distributes the heat better. Stick the transfer down with tape if it's not sticky itself.

    • @rukicalabaza

      And those Amazon pads are a nightmare, it's better using a flat surface when pressing.

    The Cricut Mini Press is actually AWESOME!! There should have been tips on how to use it in your box, there’s some on the site too. But, as a small business owner myself, it is such a handy little tool! We use it often & it works! 😊 Keep at it! 💕 I would suggest using the pressing mat that cricut sells, or another that you may find that’s flat-it will work SO much better on a flat surface than that bubble thing you were using. ❤️

    Fiddle leaf fig help!
    I think it needs wayyy more light. It needs lots of indirect lighting. Water when the first inch of top soil has dried out.
    I would even repot it because for one that tall it will need more root room. Repot in a planter one inch wider than the one you have now. And be sure the scraggly looking “roots” at the top don’t get buried! Those are air roots. Hope this helps! They are finicky little things

Florida just got hit by a hurricane bad, so I hope that doesn’t interfere.
    Also, something I would love to see on tote bags is something that just comes to you, that you don’t plan to sell! As much as I love your characters and other designs that cute girl you illustrated was my favorite not just because it was different but you seemed so happy making it. When I use my Cricut press, I preheat the cloth on which I'm transferring first. For whatever reason, it helps with adhesion.
    Edit: I noticed others have said to use the press mat that Cricut offers, because it's a flat surface. I'm a hobby quilter, so I already have a woolen pad for ironing. I think it is helpful when doing multiple transfers because it absorbs the heat, but I have no actual data to support this. lol

    Not sure if someone already said, but it looks like the fiddle leaf has a second, tiny pot around its roots. When nurseries up-pot plants for vendors, they sometimes don't bother removing the original seedling pot. If that's the case, it should be removed (I've had success with sharp scissors and lots of patience) because leaving it there can cause injury to the roots as they grow.
    FLFs are notoriously difficult to take care of and usually have a crisis when their environment changes (even just being moved to a different spot in the same house), so if it drops all its leaves, that's pretty par for the course. Even if that happens, you can chop it and wait to see if it grows anything new. Most importantly, don't feel too bad if it croaks, they're not easy plants. Good luck!! ❤

    fiddle leaf figs are so hard to keep alive!!! It needs lots of light but indirect light because it will burn in direct sunlight. They're difficult to keep well watered too. They look so nice but they're just not good at thriving in the UK. Don't cut it. It'll likely do irreparable damage. Good luck!

    The tote bags turned out wonderfully.
    Can you do a video on how you stay on trend with ideas? If it's a secret that's ok, it's just that I'm 60 years old now and realise that's way old & I feel so out of touch with mainstream especially since covid as I've just remained a hermit. Uggg I just don't seem to be in touch with any trends but I do love the props you get for photo shoots and falling more and more in love with pastel colours although we are in spring so I just have to reverse stuff. Love your ideas and way of thinking re: packaging and aesthetics from the buyers view. I'm more a leather worker, sell crystals so I make beaded and macrame jewellery plus just fallen in love with moulding those lovely props with trinket trays and candles etc

    Have you ever thought about doing phone cases through castify? or something similar. I love your designs, and thought it'd be great to have them on my phone. More downloadable screen backgrounds would be great!

    Hiya 🤗 maybe an idea for next year would be to do a Disney inspired treat bag that we can use for MNSSHP in WDW - maybe something on a black tote 🖤☺️ I started Christmas shopping from August, it’s never too early 😊 have a fab week ahead 🥰 xxx

    The plant would need a bigger pot, water, and sunlight. Fiddle Leaf Figs need a lot of natural light and do best when placed directly in front of a window. Water thoroughly about once a week, allowing the top couple inches of soil to dry out before watering again.

    with the dtf are you buying the transfers ready to press? i'm intrested in the process of that and how it sot of works? is it like buying a iron on of your wok but better?

    Maybe the fact that the heat protector pad thing from amazon is so squishy makes it harder for pressing down the logo on the tote bag . Maybe you could use those silicone mats that are made for baking and going in the oven so it protects your table and is heat resistent! or i'm sure there are other options out there !

    I like the dtf transfer rolls you get. I am curious about the process of ordering your art work like that? Do you have any step by step tutorials on your patreon ? I would love to transfers my designs to T shirts & mugs. I think ordering the designs in bulk like you do is the way to go!

    I used to love your vlogs so much, but the last months I haven't been feeling it, it felt like the content didn't have value innit, kinda empty, however in these last vlogs I've been so entertained I didn't want the video to end, I felt your magic again. I don't know what was it, maybe the fact that the video was not a complete tutorial on how to make a coffee, or that you make us part of the creative process. I really don't want to sound rude:(( I just wanted to tell you that I've been enjoying these last videos A LOT!!
