Everyone talks about the story, but nobody talks about the city itself. Sumaru was what subtly swallowed you into this game, it feels alive even though you see it from a top down view. The sheer dynamic of how each individual NPC knows different things ahead of time, has different opinions, new things to say; a whole story hidden behind a faceless •> icon.
this is what I miss in alot of RPGs, the few niches that had them are almost existent as a thing you never see anymore. Background and supportive elemants in story are seriously underutilized to a point where alot of stories feel very samey regardless of actual quality.
I always got a really comfy night-time city vibe from this song, it's so relaxing. Definitely one of my favorites songs from P2. Reminds me of the first time I played this game, wandering from shop to shop exploring Sumaru city, soaking up the atmosphere and goofing around with Eikichi. It still blows my mind how much detail and characterization was put into random NPCs and locations in this game. Out of all the Persona games, P2's world really felt the most fleshed out to me. I love this game!
Yeah, it really eases you into a seemingly friendly and comforting world and then BREAKS YOUR HEART OVER AND OVER AGAIN BEFORE LEAVING YOU NEEDING EVEN MORE OF THIS SWEET SWEET ANGUISH By the by, this is my favourite game ever
when i started the game this song immediately stuck out to me. the atmosphere in sumaru felt safe and welcoming. now i’m about halfway through IS and seeing all these buildings blow up makes this theme sound a lot sadder…
@@LucTaMusic Idk why Ghost Trick is so underrated :\ It's such a great game everyone should play it! No, they should play it for best doggo Missile alone :]
@@pikachucetthesecond4296 Me too. It really adds to the impact of the ending songs because you're already somewhat familiar with the melodies, and when the end comes you think back on the whole journey because of it.
@@AraiiarA My favorite example is Persona 4. _Corner of Memories,_ (the title theme) both versions of _I'll Face Myself,_ (Battle and regular) and _Never More,_ (the end credits) all share motifs. You'll hear parts of one in the others, bringing the game full circle.
It could just be me, but I could totally hear this being in a game like Mother 3 just with the composition style and soundfont. Either way, this is probably one of my favorite songs in the series now. I have yet to play Innocent Sin (I've got Eternal Punishment on the PS1, though I don't play it nearly as much as I should), but this song alone makes me want to get this game as well.
It's a shame that the PSP port of EP didn't get localized, as we wouldn't have to pinball from two different eras and systems. The quality of life improvements are definitely worth it. Let's hope that English translation patch sees the light of day...

Good morning, Mr. Mondo
This gives off a very strong nostalgic vibe.
Dude I was feeling the same thing. But I guess that fits this games theme huh
Whenever i hear it,i think of Flash games, idk why
Same here
The Seven Sisters High theme too. You can tell they specifically designed it to sound nostalgic and they did an amazing job.
Not that I'm Japanese but this has a very Showa era sound to me, which might explain the nostalgic mood
The Fresh Prince of Sumaru
Persona 2 shitposts need more recognition ngl.
I just started this game and I was immediately drawn to this song.
I love it.

Sumaru must be a nice place when the gym isn't being bombed.
Persona is a sagas that have one of the best soundtrack in all of their games
true
Sumaru city must be a nice place. nice song.
Yeah, up until it is the only place left
Rumor says that it's a nice city... ;)
@@pazzoeo Pretty sure there is a cult that worships the Elder and Outer Gods somewhere in EP. I figured I should mention that.
Not after the nazis appear
Nice until a spaceship emerges from beneath you
Really immerses you in Sumaru City. Great track.
Omg someone else who likes persona 2 and ghost trick :D

I love how the two other comments are just about his sissel pfp and not about the comment itself (Ghost trick is great though play it)
Its "Kimi no Tonari" instrumental with a funky beat now that I listen closely
The map theme for Eternal Punishment is _Change Your Way,_ so they're both remixes of their respective game's ending credit themes.
Something I really like about the Persona soundtracks is how they mix the ending themes into random songs, like with Butterfly Kiss in Persona 5

much respect.
I just started playing, seems interesting lol
2023
My favorite "World" (City) Map Theme
I love how the games use The velvet room theme in their ost like this one and the Battle Hym for Nyx
this sounds somewhat similar to Aria of the Soul, the progression more than anything
its based off of Aria of the Soul and Kimi no Tonari
@@zaqareemalcolm people actually say aria of the soul?
@@ofilosofoouumfumante5655 yes? idk whats your damage man lmao

Its used in Mt Katasumari as well
shugr2th Velvet Room

Why do I get Aria of the Soul/Battle Hymn of the Soul vibes from this?
The chord progression always reminded me of "Memories of Green" from Chrono Trigger. Both masterpieces
I always wanted to know what chord they are using
why the best p2 tracks arent on spotify? like this theme or main theme B, they are my favorite ones:(

maybe moreso 70s ! the beginning sounds very adjacent to ruclips.net/video/AErazxVXkHw/видео.html somehow mmmm

Sounds like Can You Keep a Secret by Hikaru Utada!
Is it just me, or does it sound pretty similar to Aria of the Soul?
Konishi is a god
y does the main melody almost sound like the velvet room main melody theme? it's still cool asf tho
