My cousin gave me a Buck 124 for Christmas one year. I thought, “Wow my cousin must really like me.” Every once in a while I would get a project that required heavy duty cutting, slicing, hacking, prying. I would drive across town, and go get my Buck 124, it never let me down. It’s a very special knife, and I reserve it for all the impossible tasks, then I hide it away again.
I had the Buck 120 years ago, I wish I still had it. I plan to get the 124. I've had the 112 lock back, it's a good knife. I bought the 110 for my dad when I was about 8 years old, he always carried it hunting season. It field dressed a lot of deer and elk as well as upland game birds and waterfowl. My dad is no longer with us, but every time I look at that knife it brings back good memories.
Buck was my Dad’s favorite knives. Dad had a 110 folder when I was a teenager (1975 or thereabouts) and he was particularly proud of the razor edge he maintained on that knife. One day Dad was out of the house and I needed to cut something so I helped myself to his knife. I gapped up the blade pretty bad and had to confess when Dad got home. He didn’t say anything but he did make it clear that his 110 was off limits. Dad sharpened that blade back to it’s former glory and kept it tucked away after the gapping. A few years later I joined the Navy and Dad gave me that knife before I got on the plane. It meant a lot to me and it still does. Dad also taught me how to fillet fish with a Buck 105 with a red handle. Buck, to me, is much more than just a knife. There’s so many knife makers now that make exceptional blades but if I had to get rid of my knives for some reason my Buck knives would stay with me. God bless my Dad and may he rest in peace.
The Vanguard has been my favorite knife for hunting for 20 years. Always easy to keep sharp. And I love Buck's statement of purpose. My EDC is a Buck 285 Bantam. Made in the USA and won't break the bank if you lose it.
My one and only favourite Buck knife is the Vanguard. It’s also my rite of passage becoming a man and an adult hunter. Has been at service for 30 years now and still sharp, shiny, and ready to cut. 🔪
My favorite knife 110 folder sheath knife 102 good camp knife buck hatchet life time warranty tooled . I have the Navy seal knife by buck as well and saw older model thanks
One buck I think you would have loved was the buck reaper. 7 inch recurve blade, hollow ground, full tang and super light. And they had them at Walmart of all places. They don’t make them anymore unfortunately but dang what an awesome little combat knife it was. I really should have bought two.
I have 2 Buck 119s. a 1992 Elk Handle and a 2002 standard Black Phenolic handle. Both have been exceptional and have cleaned many deer and turkey. I have a decent amount of fixed blade knives but the 119 is my favorite.
Some call the buck knives your grandfathers knives Which sounds right seeing how I am 68. I have been carrying knives since I was 8 years old. I have camped hiked and worked with buck knives. I have been studying and practicing knfe fighting for a half century and to this day. I have used and carried many , many knives from different makers from cheap to expensive customs. If I could only have 2 knives , a folder and a fixed blade I would choose , the Buck 110 folder and the Buck 119 fixed blade
I have the entire collection of knives from 101 to 124. My favorites are the 119 and 117 Brahma with leather grips and the spear point ground combat. It took me quite a few years of searching to find them all. I have one more to collect which is the original survival knife they made years ago with the hollow handle that I sold to a friend of mine and he still has it. Back in the 1980s when I did my first camping trip from Canada through the states down to Mexico I took a 124 and a Swiss Army champ with me along with a 24 inch estwing steel axe.
Beautiful choices. I have a many knives in my collection. The only Buck knife I own is a 692. I found it on a deal from a knife dealer at an antique show. It has become my daily carry though because of its practicality. It has a smart sheath and it is just a trusty blade man. I will probably add another fixed blade from Buck to my collection.
I have 3 Buck 119 knives. The 124 that I have has a beautiful wood handle not the Phenolic material. My 124 just glows, I have had it for decades. It sits in one of my display cases. Never been used. I really like that the 124 has such a substantial handle. The 120 is also a super blade just a little longer than the 119. The most unusual Buck fixed blade in my collection. Is my Buck M-9 Phrobis 3 Bayonet/Survival Knife. Made for the US Military up to about 1997 or so then they lost the contract. They had to ask for more money as materials and labor had increased. The Military said no and they got another company to make the M-9. I think that company was Lankay. But my M-9 has never been used, it has an unused sheath and I have the box it came in. My favorite Buck folder is of course the Buck 110. I have half a dozen of these knives. I carried a 110 for years out in the field doing Electrical work. It was an incredible tool. Used it a lot for removing the insulation off cable. Truly some fine classic knives. I have quite a few other Buck models but these you looked at in the video are my favorites for sure.
I own both of these. My 124 has the wood handle. I bought it in 1988 when I was 21 and I've bashed the crap out of it over the years. It's stood up and never failed me, no chips and the sheath has held up well. As for my favorite Buck folder, the Quickfire is it. I'm flipping the hell out of that every day since I've owned it. The spring is top notch and also made in the USA.
Buck 110 is also cool 🍀🍀🍀✌️😜✌️🔥🔥🔥 … and for SHTF I have 2 x 40 cm long Bowies ( Springsteel blade from Pakistan ) … heavy and perfect for the wilder survival… perfect… heavy Bowies are for every situation… 🍀🍀🍀✌️😜✌️🔥🔥🔥🌎🍀🍀🍀
My favourite would be the Buck 102 Woodsman. I have several. I take them camping. I use them in the kitchen. My second favourite would be the 105 Pathfinder. It’s similar to the 102, but a little longer. I know some people look down on Buck. But their knives in 420HC are great and deserve all the love. And the fact that Buck has a lifetime warranty on their knives at those price points is just icing on the cake.
Love my Buck's! The 110 folding hunter is a must-have, as well as the 119 featured here. I also have the 120, but I had a custom kydex sheath made for it because I actually hate the backwards snap retainer on their leather sheaths. I hockey taped the back 1/2 of the slick grip on my 120 too. Another great Buck fixed blade is the ground combat knife. Mine is the spearpoint in coyote with micarta scales.
Great video! My first big bladed knife was the Buck 120. I remember it was the "first" thing I bought when I turned 18 MANY moons ago. Just got another about 3 months ago cause they're not easy to find these days (thank you SCREAM movies!!!) but throughout the years, I've always had a 119 with me. It's never failed me throughout the decades! Buck makes a good knife, period! They'll always be popular AND iconic!!! Again Daniel, great video!!!
My dad carried a buck 110 as edc from 1974 until he passed. I was given a buck 120 when I was 9 . It took some getting used to for a boy to learn to use that big knife . I am 55 now and still use that same 120 . I have a buck 124 , but prefer 110, 105, 119 and 120 over the buck 124 . You do bot need to worry about the full tang in the 105,119, 120 or more . If they can hold up to a kid beating them thru trees , batoning and more abuse they will hold up for you . I took the handle off the my 124 and made a new one that is much more comfortable, but do not like the weight. Check the 120 or 119 out . And also for a defensive knife , they would be twice the knife as the buck 124 .
Well you convinced me. I put alot of miles on my Aitor survival knife -7. And I love my Randall Attack #14. Both are great stickers but a tad bit heavy. Sometimes I wish to have a belt knife with more steel than my lovely Fox 529-CL. So. I just purchased literally 5 minutes ago, the very last Buck 119 in my small city. Cheers
Buck makes an Eagle Scout version of one of their folding hunters. You can have it engraved with Scouts name, Eagle date, etc. I have gifted that knife to several Eagle Scouts, including my son.
I am on the hunt for a solid small size fixed knufe for my camping/cooking needs- have tried some of the popular budget knifes, they ended up in the🗑️. I do have a 836 Selkirk as a daily, (it has been solid). . Thank you for your review ..
another great presentation! 👍 thank you! avid gardener and considering a hori hori knife, attracted to usefulness in the garden and possible equalizer function if needed 🔪🌿
"A blade is a blade, a blade can work and a blade can fight", I'm gonna steal that quote, it sums up the whole philosophy of knives since humans started making them. After your own hands, it's the first, best, most primary tool humans have ever possessed. And it's symbolic of freedom. Only free men can carry knives.
I recently bought the 685 large bucklite (4” blade, hidden full tang, over molded handle, nylon sheath). This knife is nothing to write home about in the looks department, but I’m beginning to really appreciate these types of knives. These are not dress up knives, they are straight up field knives. They cut very well, and are extremely easy to maintain. I enjoy using and appreciate my buck 685 more than my Tops silent hero 4 (I paid $30 for the buck and $130 for the Tops). They have roughly the same blade shape, same weight, and same blade thickness. The buck has a finer edge, while the Tops has nicer materials overall. If you collect cool knives there will be nothing to stop you from the Tops silent hero 4 (really like the knife), if you don’t care how it looks and want something slightly easier to maintain in the same blade shape the buck 685 large bucklite can’t be beat, it is a very good alternative (probably even better in actual use). The 119 is an awesome looking blade, and so is the 124. I get rid of knives every so often to keep them from piling up at home, I maybe have 8 buck knives and have only ever given one away. They are some of the less expensive knives I own but some of the most useful, and there is a bit of relief knowing that the heat treatment and blade geometry are on point. 420hc doesn’t sound like a good option compared to what is available, but it is a tuff steel and a great option in a user especially from buck. I have yet to find the “perfect knife” or the “perfect steel”, a knife needs to do one thing… cut, and I need to be able to make it cut more when the blade looses its edge. There is less of a gamble when buying a buck knife in my experience, it will cut (extremely well) and be super easy to hone.
Favorite folder. 110 auto. Daily carry. 119 75th in a punku sheath. The heavy handle wanted to tip out if you were not snapped. I almost lost it twice. A true miracle finding it. The eBay full sheath makes it hang lower and is way more comfy. Hasn’t fallen out and I ware it every day for six years. I carried a 110 my whole adult life but the fixed is much more convenient. I have gotten maybe five comments from naysayers. I am a half breed at 6”5” 250#s with a huge surgical scar on my face, most folks keep their shitty opinions to themselves.
Always loved both these Bucks your showing in my opinion it's one of if not the best looking fixed blades ever made and the black leather sheaths are a work of art also in Beauty and functionality.
Iam a buck collector i have about 75 out of around 250 knives the bucks are some of my favorites 2 of my favorites were made in the mid 80's and the handle material is prehistoric ivory they have a picture of the tusk in there factory.
Great choices! I have 2 of the 124. One is 25 years old, with a wood grip. The other is brand new. My 119 is the stag handled version. They are all great. I have a 500 folder that I often carry, as well as a 112. I have at least 10 Buck knives, but those 5 are the ones that I use.
I’ve always had the 119. I came across a buck 110 two dot. Found it in a pawnshop. They’re some good places to check out. I got it for $10. Needed some tlc though. Hit hard times and had to sell my whole collection. Children come first. I did get $75 for it though
Great video my friend thanks for share your acknowledge with the community and the future generations. Two great knifes from Buck the 119 and the 124. May be one day I can buy a 124 . For now Im a proud owner of the 140 and 141 skinners high recommended. Low weight and easy to carry if you look for a long distance hiking or hunting you can use both. Or combination one skinner and 14" Tramontina machete. Saludos Amigo
The Buck 110 is my favorite to use, with the Vanguard a close second. The KALINGA is a Buck knife I have always desired their most beautiful knife to me.. One day.
Been carrying a book since 1970 71 they were Folgers until I bought the 119 which got stolen and I now have one I don't know the nomenclature it has an 11 inch blade with the rubber handle with no handguards I really like it I've had it over 30 years
Buck Knives are awesome. American made and their designs have stood the test of time. For fixed blades you need to take a look at the 102 Woodsman. It is like a smaller 119 but very edc friendly, a great hunting/woods knife. Buck folders the classic 110 hunter & 112 Ranger. Interesting story about how the 112 came to be. The story tells of an altercation between two sailors on the USS Ranger which became very serious. One of the sailors was inflicted with a deep stab wound, supposedly from a Buck 110. Due to the severity of the wound, the USS Ranger commander banned all knives with a blade exceeding 3” from use on the ship. Another awesome review brother of some iconic American Cutlery. TwoBlafes way up!
I've been giving my gen z sons traditional buck knives for Christmas lately. They've grown up on all the new style stuff and have found the traditional designs of buck really interesting. I have a 110, 119 and they are awesome. I really would like a 916 custom Bowie, but there are hardly any reviews online about them.
I’m exactly in the same position! I love knives, the 119 is a must purchase at some point… simply because it’s like a “hall of fame” thing. I want my collection to tell a story in representation
I've always liked the classic 110 & and 112, but in todays world, they're not the easiest to carry and deploy quickly. I've been looking at the 113 fixed blade lately and can't decide. I need a good fixed blade to carry daily (so not too big). I looked at the 863 Selkirk but learned they're china made. With all the cold steel, spiderco, mora, sog options, it's hard, but I like classic style. Great video and my search continues.
Buck GCK looks amazing, both the tanto and spear point variants. It's one of those combat knives you would imagine carrying in a shit hit the fan scenario.
I own a Buck 110 and I am happy with it. I have it in my pocket most of the time. It´s in my front pocket right now. I am looking into the Selkirk and the Woodsman. I do not really collect knives and in my neck of the woods the legal limit for blade length is just under 5".
My favorite is the 105 pathfinder. Second place would have to go to the woodsman aka the 102. As far as folders, the 110 and the 722 spitfire are my preferred edc.
I like most Bucks but my favorite one is the buck 110 auto elite it has the same lock but the blade is cpm sv130vn the bolsters are nickel and the scales are black g-10 has the old school auto button on the side of the scale awesome knife my first 110 I got while in the Navy 1972 still have it my favorite fixed is the 119 elite the blade is cpm sv 135vn the gripe is brown micarta I also have the 124 and a drawer full of different Bucks many are not made any more hard to pick a favorite with so many to chose from
Not a Buck ……..but I highly recommend The Cold Steel Bushman, very cost effective….I had mine for close to thirty years, has never let me down, and I mean never.
I didn't know that 124 existed. That looks like a good contender for my lion steel m7 . I've never had a buck . To many reviews put me of the steel . Thanks for your efforts my friend
Buck Knighthawk or is Nighthawk , an excellent fighting pattern . Came with a cheap sheath . Had a customer, Federal Law Enforcement , bought one same time that I got mine . Made leather sheaths for both . It had a thumb indenture for proper thumb placement , reminded me of the Patton Saber . If they still make it I would like to buy another . Here you when talking about walking by the knife counter and that 119 says "take me home !" 😳
Not sure what buck is my favourite, but i do own quite a few, they can keep there fancy flippers and knives with the bling and space age looks, i'll stick with whats been working just fine for years
I bought a 119 last year but didn't get to go out deer hunting last year I was not able to walk but this year I am able to run a few steps and do a lot of walking so I hope to clean a deer with it. I gave my Buck Zipper to my nephew to use and let him keep it he got a 14 point buck last year and I don't use a gut hook for cleaning deer. I have a Vanguard which is basically the same thing without a zipper on it.
Dang. I have not carried a Buck since I was a wee lad of 10, with my classic 110... 10 with a 110 .. good times. Did you consider getting the S35vn versions? I would doubt Wally-World carries the upgraded versions... how do people argue over what a full tang blade is? Doesn't seem like much to argue. The 124 is badass, no two ways about it. Seems like it would be quite functional; besides being a good looker, it appears you could rock and roll when needed. I have been thinking about getting another 110, get some of those pre-teen nostalgia vibes... Anyway, to everyone out here, have a marvelous day. And thanks for the cool video.
Oh, and for my next folder, I've been wanting a Buck 110 automatic. I've liked them for YEARS and Idk why it's not in my hands yet... Fixing that ASAP!!!
I like 110 folder classic and 110 slim; I have the 110 slim in my pocket. I’ve had my eyes on the 119 for years now, next in line though is the Gerber strong arm.
Lol! "Good golly, Miss Molly"... Couldnt have said it better! 👍
🤣💯

Damn, 120 years ago is a long time.

Bought a 119 about eleven years ago and just acquired a 120. Definitely two of my prettiest fixed blades besides the Master Tanto.
The Buck 119 has been my main go-to for a fixed blade knife for decades. It was my first fixed-blade.
I like that 124 years back they made it with a cocobolo handle I hope they bring it back some day
I've had the 120 for over 35 years and it's still great !
Oh yes the 124 Frontiersman is great. I also love the 192 Vanguard with Dymalux Walnut handle 😊
My one and only favourite Buck knife is the Vanguard. It’s also my rite of passage becoming a man and an adult hunter. Has been at service for 30 years now and still sharp, shiny, and ready to cut. 🔪
I want that Buck 110 sport pro 🥰😻 which adds a thumb stud and pocket clip and micarta inlay so it's a bit more easy to handle and not slippery
My favorite knife 110 folder sheath knife 102 good camp knife buck hatchet life time warranty tooled . I have the Navy seal knife by buck as well and saw older model thanks
Good video, My first knife was a buck back in the early nineteen sixties.

I have had a119 since 74 ,it has been on every big game hunt I' been on . none better....
I'm fond of the Vanguard and of course the 110 with the ebony handle. I may have to get a model 124.

Very nice looking blades, thanks for sharing.👍
I own several 110 folders. I have the 119 for years as well. I use them all for hunting knives. 🇺🇲🔪🔥🌲
I've had my 119 since 1986 it's processed many game and is still my favourite hunting knife
My favorite Buck fixed blade is the 120. My favorite folder is the 112 Slim Select. Have fun.
I have 3 Buck 119 knives. The 124 that I have has a beautiful wood handle not the Phenolic material. My 124 just glows, I have had it for decades. It sits in one of my display cases. Never been used. I have the buck 119 special and just got a cold steel tanto. love them both! 😊
Been a Buck man since the 80's. Own a lot. Favorite model is the Vanguard. It's just the perfect blend of simplicity and utility
My favourite would be the Buck 102 Woodsman. I have several. I take them camping. I use them in the kitchen. My second favourite would be the 105 Pathfinder. While you can throw any knife, some knives, like the Bucks featured here, really shouldn’t be thrown. Thanks for respecting these 2 classics.

That 124 is my next must have knife.
It's absolutely beautiful.
My dad carried a buck 110 as edc from 1974 until he passed.
I was given a buck 120 when I was 9 . It took some getting used to for a boy to learn to use that big knife . I am 55 now and still use that same 120 .

Amen my friend 💯🙂
A great folding buck knife. Is the Buck 110.
I've had a 119 since 1973, still have it. Bought a 124 some years ago. Love them both, no complaints here. Thanks for sharing!
My 119 is my favorite fixed blade knife. I've always wanted the 124 but I can't justify paying that much for another knife. Thanks for the video.
Always loved both these Bucks your showing in my opinion it's one of if not the best looking fixed blades ever made and the black leather sheaths are a work of art also in Beauty and functionality.
My favorite Bucks are the 110, 124, and the Bucks Brahma.
Iam a buck collector i have about 75 out of around 250 knives the bucks are some of my favorites 2 of my favorites were made in the mid 80's and the handle material is prehistoric ivory they have a picture of the tusk in there factory.
I've had my 119 since 1984 it's just a great knife
Great choices! I have 2 of the 124. One is 25 years old, with a wood grip. The other is brand new. My 119 is the stag handled version. They are all great.
I have a 500 folder that I often carry, as well as a 112.
I have at least 10 Buck knives, but those 5 are the ones that I use.
The Buck 119/120 have slippery handles when wet..
I have the Buck MILITARY M9 PRHOBIS BUCK 188 and it fits good in the hand - good grip.
I’ve always had the 119. I came across a buck 110 two dot. Found it in a pawnshop. They’re some good places to check out. I got it for $10. Needed some tlc though. Hit hard times and had to sell my whole collection. Children come first. I did get $75 for it though
The 102, 105, and 118 I have all three and they are phenomenal
👍 Nice overview of these 2 Buck knives. While I like the 124, my all time favorite is the 117.
I don't have any Bucks yet, but the first one I want is that 119. It's so pretty
71 year old guy, my buck fixed 121 since over 50 years ago
Very nice!
I have a lot of buck knife but the 124 is my favorite
One day.
You couldn’t have made two better choices than the Buck 119 and 124.
Been carrying a book since 1970 71 they were Folgers until I bought the 119 which got stolen and I now have one I don't know the nomenclature it has an 11 inch blade with the rubber handle with no handguards I really like it I've had it over 30 years
I love the buck 112.
The 891 ground combat is fantastic
Can't go wrong with a 119. I like my 104 Compadre and 110 Sport folder
I have two of both. Buy them.
Very nice
I've been giving my gen z sons traditional buck knives for Christmas lately. They've grown up on all the new style stuff and have found the traditional designs of buck really interesting.
I have a 110, 119 and they are awesome. I really would like a 916 custom Bowie, but there are hardly any reviews online about them.
I’m exactly in the same position! I love knives, the 119 is a must purchase at some point… simply because it’s like a “hall of fame” thing. I want my collection to tell a story in representation
Right on i do like that 124
I just got the ka bar kukuri im lovin it
I've always liked the classic 110 & and 112, but in todays world, they're not the easiest to carry and deploy quickly.
Love buck knife
Buck knives hold their value ..
I have the buckmaster 184 it's a beautiful knife and it is heavy when I was a teenager and in my 20s I had the 110
My Buck 110 with Elk Antler and nickel silver bolsters.
I got the 119 for my servival knife and I got a Buck micro miny folder with a 2 1/2 blade and smaller for my pocket edc
I like bucks knifes they made some throwing knifes the case is very cool and functional 🎯
I didn't know that 124 existed. That looks like a good contender for my lion steel m7 . I've never had a buck . To many reviews put me of the steel . Thanks for your efforts my friend
They are so beautiful 😻
Wow! Those are some sharp knives. 👍😎 Sharp knives. Excuse the pun. 😂
It finally won the battle haha now I have peace when I go to Walmart🤣
😂 love it@@411Outdoors
Not sure what buck is my favourite, but i do own quite a few, they can keep there fancy flippers and knives with the bling and space age looks, i'll stick with whats been working just fine for years
I got a 119 and a 121 awesome knifes.
Addendum : All time favorite fixed blade is 117. My all time favorite Buck knife is the 110.
Such a classic knife!
I like 110 folder classic and 110 slim; I have the 110 slim in my pocket. I’ve had my eyes on the 119 for years now, next in line though is the Gerber strong arm.
Now those are knives😁😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've got a large size CASE xx folder lockblade , there is SS etched too
I used to have a 110 folder but I can't remember what happened to it but if I was going to buy one of their fixed blades it would probably be the 120.
I am in the same boat as you sir. I can decide between the 120 general or the 124 frontiersman.
