What we can do (and what we do) is leave it on the field, every time. Our instructor Mr. Ferrara tells us that a piece of plastic is nice, but by no means is the most important part of the process. All that matters is playing a great show for the people and watching them give a standing ovation. I played mallets in that show and don't regret anything. We put on a great performance that evening. As you can surely attest, any recognition then came on its own.
Other than one from 1991 this is the earliest walnut hills video I can find. Other schools have videos on here from as far back as the 50s and 60s, so 2008 isn't anything to write home about.
That seems to be the thinking around the general populace. But who are we to judge? Just because MSBA finals were held at Kings High School, with Kings-hired judges hired by Kings director and chief of MSBA. Guess who won? Kings. Course I feel sorrier still for Henry Clay because they definitely deserved to beat Kings. Hands down.
I hate when judges rip you off. Totally blows. What can you do...especially when the judges don't reward the schools with hard shows and not schools that whole show revolves around 3 yard lines. I could write some of that drill in a night!
JESUS!!! this is what passes for a marching band!?!? I remember when we were at least 100 deep (on the field not including the pit) and had a strong sound. 10% of of us made careers out of music. i dont want to rank on yall any more but this is sad.
Wow, I was just reminiscing at work and was able to find this gem. More than a decade later and we still sound good!
