Warping that loom is a time consuming part of weaving. The actual weaving is the fun part. Just
to warp my 24" rigid heddle loom takes me up to 2 - 2 1/2 hrs in preparation for weaving . I can't
imagine the hours it takes to warp that floor loom, even with two men involved with the warping.

No doesn’t take long, there are more efficient ways. One way is direct warping or sectional warp. I will put on 100 yards of warp at one time and weave away. Cut off fabric as needed and put warp back in front beam and resume weaving. Of course downside is threading order is the same but tie up and treadling can be changed to achieve different designs.

In Finland we use different shuttles. They are long and carved around, so the weft can be rolled on the shuttle many times. And usually use two or three shuttles, one colour on the other, and another on the second shuttle, and then throw the weft one from right side, and then second wefth from left side, in turn. Then there is two different colours in turn.

So much here for a weaver to marvel at! Would love to see how they create the reed they use.

Buna ziua. Foarte frumos ati explicat. Ati putea face un filmulet in care sa aratati si cum se urzeste.

the quick movement of their fingers reminds me of the old women in my village in Greece...it was like magic to me...today it is really difficult to find someone who knows how to warp...But there is always Internet!
