The reaction time sometimes was like instant which makes me think it was rehearsed somewhat
@@charlietian4023 they probably knew what concertos were on the list, but not the order, but there were enough raggedy starts to convince me they are bringing them up from memory.

@@charlietian4023 Well, Eddy does have perfect pitch and since they played many of these concertos before, I could reasonably believe it was not rehearsed before. It could be that they knew the list of concertos that was prepared beforehand...but I honestly don't know haha
When Eddy launched into the Sibelius I started crying... To bare your soul on command like that, especially with a piece you've practiced to death, will always be incredible to me.

@@Dodecatone I really suck at the names of chords and progressions... just thought it is possible to play on a violin but it will be extremely hard to get it clean.

That poor pianist, though. He was mentally ready to play one piece only to have to suddenly play a completely different one.
I wonder how he did in the contest after that. He played it really well considering it wasn’t what he prepped and how nightmarish the circumstances were!
@@susanbryant6516 He didn't win the competition. The incident was investigated to have been at fault of one of the orchestra employees. The pianist was invited back to play his set again but he declined.
he at least prepared to play the piece. he had this and another piece prepared for the competition, just that the other piece was supposed to be played first. he prepared for both of them they just played it out of order
@@6atp Yeah. Luckily it wasn't an unknown piece he had to play. But he was mentally ready for Tchaikovski Piano Concerto #1, I believe.

I had never been much of a fan of "classical" music before. I always used to think that it was bland and boring. But this video introduced me to much more exciting music, and I haven't been able to stop listening since. Thank you for demonstrating how beautiful this style of music can be.

So impressed with Eddy's reaction time and memory, just like in their previous "Finish the Melody" video with Ray. And it's not just because he has Perfect Pitch, because Ray has it too. Thank you both for demonstrating the different types of memory recall and why it's important to know the orchestra parts too. Awesome video!

I really like how this whole Video is set up and edited. The idea is great, the playing is great, the zoom ins and outs while sometimes parallel showing the other ones' expression in that mini screen is great, and the background lightning colour changes are also great. All together is very impressive and epic.
