Thanks for the overview of the radio. Last week went to a radio club outing/meeting and one of the member brought the Elecraft qrp radio. Great radio. Other RUclipsrs have shown the 5105 and gave good reviews of it. I am looking for a good backpacking- emergency bug out radio and the 5105 will work for me. Thanks for the ending inspirational insight. Been going though some self reflection and appreciate the uplifting motivation.
This radio should get more credit than it gets. Its an ideal radio for on the fly antenna testing. I've been following Justin KG2RG where he uses one quite alot. The contacts he has had on his is incredible, regularly working into Europe.

the volume buttons are set that way because you can use this radio as a handy. so if you push the ptt then you can up and down the volume with the same hand. also the speaker and mic positions are not a coincidence.
I'm new to radio and bought this radio along with a small magloop antenna and it works great so far. I'm not allowed to transmit yet but have hunted POTA activators from East to West coast so far and I'm in Ontario Canada. What the antenna you used, I'm thinking of getting the Chameleon MPAS 2.0

They could be.. for some reason, I had a really hard time getting used to that / accepting that. It's interesting. None the less, a small gripe and nothing that would be too upsetting about the radio.
Great video man. The rig would be perfect if it had 10 more watts. Even if it was slightly bigger “aka kx3”. I really like 10w min for pota es sota. Let me know if you want to try Cw demo
Before you buy one of these turds, take a look around and notice there is no one to help you repair it....There is no one to help you when you brick the radio with a failed firmware upgrade. I have a $500 paperweight. It's a disposable radio.

Thank you Mike! I'm feeling more confident with it every day. Soon I'll be having QSOs. Really with QRP, it seems CW is a huge advantage!

Have you had any front end over load or broadcast band bleed through?
I can't say that I did or at least remember, but I haven't had it for a while now, so I couldn't provide a solid answer

You could use the memory function to input/sane the 60m channels.

Nice video. Very informative. BUT.....you're a little late. Xiegu is no coming out with the X6100. The 5105 is now old school.
