Cosmos is a great project but Atom doesn't have much of a use case. The founders have said before that it could exist without Atom. I had some Atom and made some momey on it but unless they come up with some more uses I am not buying.

Interchain is what gets me excited the most . Imagine staking only atom on keplr wallet and receiving staking rewards from many different coins . A brokerage that recently got coverage on atom said that by 2030 there will be 2500 different coin projects on the inter chain . That means staking rewards from 2500 different coins and he has a 2030 target on atom of 1400
That was just cut to 10% max inflation rate through community voting. Plus if you stake your Atom, you are getting about `10 to 14% APR so that offsets the inflation.
i have ATOM, but i am not buying more, the upside potential is not great, from the current prize to the last bullrun high is just 6x and in the last bullrun around 30x while Dogecoin and Solana had over 500x in the last bullrun.

Probably because it's scary to a lot of people. The truth is there is no max supply and currentl;y the maximum inflation rate is 10%. That being said if you stake atom you outearn the inflation rate so it's designed to reward holders for staking and securing the chain.

Atom has a high inflation rate so you'd have to look at market cap not individual token price. Once you buy the token, you stake it and earn atoms at a rate higher than the inflation rate so the inflation doesn't hurt you.
But even if it passes will the tokenomics be retroactive? For eg Binance, Thorchain etc all have their own set of validators. The whole system would have to be redone for the security and validators to move to Cosmos instead - which isn't going to happen. Best Cosmos can do is future projects will use it for security than create their own set of validators. This will capture some value but leaves most on the table
Recently unstaked and sold my ATOM. The technology is good, and has some good protocols using IBC, but no real value capture by the ATOM token itself. I have little faith that they will be able to fix their tokenomics.
ATOM had been my #1 holding for the past 2 years , but I'm not optimistic about the changes. I may be wrong, but the opportunity cost of staying with it weighed on my decision.
It should be intelligent to bet in Osmosis and Neutron, as they are well prepared to capture the success of the Cosmos ecosystem. I believe ATOM will be replaced by one of this chain as the main source of security and a placed to build on top of. Things have to clarify a bit if ATOM and the Cosmos hub want to actually and economically make sense.
Currently just securing the Cosmos Hub and you get interest for staking your Atoms. The community is working on adding upgrades that will hopefully enable rollup up value into the native token in the future.

But in terms of retail investment not a good idea, why?? I’ve been around a while and I’m speaking from what I understand, look at last bull run. Dot pull $50 while Atom pull $40 Dot has dumped harder around $4 while Atom around $8, but keep your eyes on the next bull run and see again for yourself
My only concern is it’s in the SEC alleged securities. Do you think it would still perform while holding that blemish on its name? What if one should only hold Solana instead of Atom and Matic. All the three are in that list but let’s say one may ideally include just one of them to avoid more risk. What would you say in this scenario?
@@Coinsider it's getting better by reducing emissions but sadly don't think that will create enough demand - I told them in 2021 that their token us useless and they got mad - took their time to do small changes

From what I know they put it up for a vote in Governance to restructure fees with $Atom and it failed to pass.

Honestly the biggest thing about Atom is if you stake it you get airdrops for a lot of projects built on Cosmos SDK for example TIA.
Polkadot has a similar functionality with parachains connected to relay chain. In terms of active development, both DOT and Atom are upfront.
Yeah I agree. Kusama is pretty good as well but I would say the Cosmos projects have performed the best this year like TIA and INJ

They're working on upgrading the token to capture more value from the Cosmos Hub.
But then I looked at the ATOM/ETH chart and it lost 80% value against ETH in the past couple of years... hmm..
