  • You've been asking every single week for Neal Foulds, well today is the day. Neal and Stephen have an in depth chat around the Champion of Champions venue in Bolton. They talk all things snooker including Neal's letter from Stephen mum, playing a young Jimmy White and why Neal can't get away with some of the stuff Stephen does in their respective TV roles. As you'll likely know, Neal doesn't pick up a cue anymore so this is a bit of a different video, we hope you enjoy it!

I note that people who say that Hendry retired too early tend to refer to that superb first session and 147 against Stuart Bingham but to overlook the bad middle session vs. Higgins and the drubbing vs. Maguire. I felt that those performances at 2012 WSC showed that championship winning form was still in there but that the ability to consistently produce it in a match had gone.

I played neal in around 1984 at neasden , ron gross snooker centre .
I left my chalk on the table , he went to play his shot and swiped my chalk off the able with his cue quickly told me that not snooker etiquette to leave it there .
He gave me 70 start and beat me 👍.
Have so many stories from that era , Jimmy used to come down there , especially when Benson and hedges masters was on at Wembley and take loads of money off the owner .
I think Jimmy gave Ron gross a 14 start .
Ron gross was amateur champion on the late 50s if i remember.
Great memories , great times .
The whole club backed neale to beat Alex Higgins in his first world championship , and neale duly obliged
He was big odds too as a rookie .

People like you are just never happy.
If it was 40mins you would moan that it's not a hour.
Just be happy and grateful for what you get not crave what you dont have or receive.

Think part of that is Neal refuses to play a frame so it was just a straight interview. Neal came across well I thought.

Neil is a top bloke and without trying extremely funny love listening to his commentary and knowledge of the game which is first class, also Stephen with his blunt comments when players miss or play bad shots and when your a seven time world champion you sort of have gained the right to give an honest opinion.

This Channel is the absolute Best.
You should look at doing a Live Q & A with your top Guests - like what Gary Neville has done !.

Lovely video - many thanks to Stephen. I was sad to hear that someone disliked Neal's commentary because he didn't win as many tournaments as some of the people he's talking about - about from his logical argument that on that basis only Hendry could talk about O'Sullivan, and so on, there's the obvious fact that it's possible to know and express a lot about how something is done without being able to do it. Neal is absolutely my favourite commentator (in a crowded field) - witty, knowledgeable, fair-minded and very tactful. with a wonderfully natural way with words: who can forget his 'both arms available' comment?

I remember watching a snooker match when neal foulds and this other guy who i really like listening to started talking about a place called pottingham, or puttingham. Totally awesome moment, when two great commentators sidetrack for a little while.
I like this other guys voice and commentating so much, i decided to never google his face. I think his name is phil, and he is funny and has the best memory ever.
    Neal foulds is great!

I had to look up what happened with Neal's dad, saw he refused to give up being chairman and director of the WPBSA, after a vote of no conference, led by 5 players, including Stephen Hendry😂 Nice to see it looks like that's all water under the bridge now, I hope Geoff still enjoys watching the snooker.

Good morning. Stephen, you are a legend, an icon. I'd pay good money just to shake your hand sir. Neal as ever is gracious and humble. A lovely gentleman.
I am looking forward to seeing you Stephen at the Embassy in Skegness in March, along with Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor. 3 of my heroes.
Now, on a different tack, I would really love to see Stephen Maguire and you on this channel. I've always liked Stephen and it's so sad how he's quietly slipped away from where he was and indeed where he should be. Stephen Maguire has got a lovely cue action, is a brilliant break builder, still, and can still cut it at the top, although of course recent years have proved more difficult for him.
Please please please interview Stephen Maguire, Stephen.
    Please.
All the best to you sir

Would love to see a regular couple of frames but with the older players who have faded from the public eye, like Neal or Kirk Stevens, Tony Meo, Tony Knowles, the big names from yesteryear, hear their story and see if they still have it
