What a lovely human being Neal is, such a shame he feels a bit of negativity about even picking up a cue anymore but top bloke and deserves many more years doing what he does so well.
Great interview, Neal is so humble, he's brilliant at what he does and was a phenomenal player in his day who doesn't get enough credit for what he achieved 👏 #legend
When Stephen started commentary he used say hardly anything -- what he did say was brutally honest and critical. He found a good balance after a while. He's definitely one of my favourite commentators, along with Foulds and MacManus

Great interview from two talented and likeable ex-pros. A lot of people probably view Neal as a bore or a square, but he's actually quite an interesting, genuine and down-to-earth guy, and was a great player in his day. As for SH, well, he's just a straight legend! Thanks for the upload.
Brilliant! In total honesty, I have come to really enjoy Steven's commentary and now live his channel. Neil Foulds has always been my favourite commentator and was chuffed to hear Steven thinks the same! Shame Jimmy wouldn't come on but he has his reasons I guess.
I was never a Hendry fan when he was playing in his prime I always rooted for Jimmy White. However now he’s doing this channel I’ve gotten to see the other side of him and he’s brilliant. I now appreciate just how special he was in his prime and what a nice guy he really is. Great stuff Stephen and thank you.
Have just listened to the Radio 5 interview with Stephen... A great listen for this 73 year old who has followed the life and career of Stephen since he was 16... I have loved every minute...as did my late father...who like Stephen,s grandfather was himself a very good player.... The best I ever played against...
Neal was a very good player and today is an excellent pundit and commentator, really enjoy listening to him. Met him at the Welsh Open in 2020, lovely bloke. Cheers Stephen for another excellent video
I used to work with Fouldsy when he did the commentary work for Ladbrokes at their head office. He was always a good sport, and I introduced him to beef jerky. Good guy, always friendly and happy to chat.
Lovely video - many thanks to Stephen. I was sad to hear that someone disliked Neal's commentary because he didn't win as many tournaments as some of the people he's talking about - about from his logical argument that on that basis only Hendry could talk about O'Sullivan, and so on, there's the obvious fact that it's possible to know and express a lot about how something is done without being able to do it. Neal is absolutely my favourite commentator (in a crowded field) - witty, knowledgeable, fair-minded and very tactful. with a wonderfully natural way with words: who can forget his 'both arms available' comment?
I dont know just how ill Clive Everton is these days but i would love to see stephen to have Clive on this channel. He is by far the most knowledgeable guy ever in snoomer and billiards. And it was sad what the bbc done kicking him out after all the years of service he gave to them and to snooker. Hope you are doing ok Mr Clive Everton.
Jaysus he must really be knocking on now. Not sure it'd work. He was like Yoda when I last seen him on commentary and that must be well over ten years ago.
Fouldsy and McManus are the two best pundits in the game. Although, Stephen can say things other pundits can't, because of how he dominated and ultimately changed how players approach to the game.
Good man, Neil. Appreciate his insight and commentary, once #3 in the world and was a very determined player who got some good results against the best in the game. I always have an understanding for players like him who feel relief when they hang Thier cue up.. no more fighting the demons and inner peace ensues 😊
Only found this channel a few months ago, getting through them one by one, nice to see one of the true greats in sport on RUclips, I'm 43 and watched snooker from 8 years old and still play now myself in my local league, but remember watching Hendry and his battles against the world's best, especially and against Jimmy, keep the vids coming, really enjoying the channel
What a great interview, the best so far. Neil, what a fantastic character, honest, knowledgeable. Top commentator. And well,we all know about Stephen????
Great chat between snooker's two best pundits , good point made about the value of silence which seems lost on others in the ITV and Eurosport camps. Love Stephen's honesty and Neil's love for the game, even though he's not picked up a cue for years. Cheers.
Neal is definately the best commentator in my humble opinion. Such a nice bloke too and used to love watching him play back in the day. Great channel Stephen, keep up the hard workmyou put into doing this channel, us snooker fans really appreciate it. Agree totally with Neal in terms of Stephen really adds a different take to commentary and deserves to be able to says what he says and feels.
Neal's commentary is on point, he also has a way of building the intensity when a frame becomes nervy. I don't think I've ever heard him say: he couldn't have picked it up with his hand and place it any better 😄
If you're watching this Neal, Stephen's right on you as a pundit. Foulds is a great commentator and pundit, and comes across as an all round nice guy. He's probably my favourite too.

I used to be a member of the Ron Gross Snooker Club in Neasden. Neil was always in there playing snooker as a schoolboy, although I doubt he ever did go to school - he was always in the snooker hall. And all the greats turned up at that club, so no wonder his game progressed so far. Plus his dad was pretty good too.

Neil is a top bloke and without trying extremely funny love listening to his commentary and knowledge of the game which is first class, also Stephen with his blunt comments when players miss or play bad shots and when your a seven time world champion you sort of have gained the right to give an honest opinion.
Great interview. I still remember the days when Neal Foulds did commentary on Stephen Hendry's matches, e.g. vs. Ryan Day in 2008 as well as John Higgins and Stephen Maguire in 2012. I note that people who say that Hendry retired too early tend to refer to that superb first session and 147 against Stuart Bingham but to overlook the bad middle session vs. Higgins and the drubbing vs. Maguire. I felt that those performances at 2012 WSC showed that championship winning form was still in there but that the ability to consistently produce it in a match had gone.
Please bring on John Virgo, he's just such a legend no less than Neal! Great episode as always Stephen, the quality of these episodes are just top notch, we're really spoiled!!!!

Neal Foulds was a great player in his day. Slipped down in 90s but good player to watch and had plenty of very good victories. His punditry is second to none. Good to have him on ITV events or the 900.
Neal was one of several players that took beta-blockers. Nothing wrong with that, as they weren't banned, but when a ban came in, a lot of players slipped down the rankings. Shame it doesn't get talked about now, I'd love to hear the full story, but I guess people are too judgmental, so maybe its best swept under the carpet? I'd love to know what other players took beta-blockers, I have a hunch that some that were far more successful than Neal used them, but nobody would talk about that.

It’s terrible
Great show gents.very informative
The John Virgo and Willie Thorne commentary combo was always good.
Great interview, Neal is a superb commentator and great person.
Really enjoyed that. Thanks
