For any of the students out there who are trying to do this,please don't. This is a huge fail. I am a student and I have tried it this is simply a waste of time. After removing the rubber from the syringe the steam goes out and the piston does not move. The mechanical energy does not convert into electrical energy which lights the led bulb or whatever it is. Please don't waste your time on this and if possible try another project or any other method. Thank you

U could lead the exhaust back to a small cooling pot / tower that will convert the steam back to water and let it feed back in. But u would have to look that up. I know moonshiners use it to cool their moonsine. and u would need to make a one way valve so the steam cant enter trough the wrong side.

The connection of the test tube to your piston might not be airtight or it just lacks pressure you can resolve this by stepping up the heat (if your using a hydraulic piston like the ones on big machine, it won't work)

This doesn't make sense. The cd will slowly lose speed because the syringe is only pushing outwards. If you want the syringe to go back, you may have to add some valve gears/camshaft and a exhaust port.

This is not a Sterling Motor. A sterling motor uses the heating and cooling of air to push the piston, not water. And besides, this is not even how a steam engine works

Make sure there is an input and output on the piston otherwise there’s is no opposing force to push the piston back
