    If I have a microbial sample that divides every 20 min. and they're asking me how much time is required for a single cell to grow into a population large enough to fill the volume of the Earth (1.09 x 10^21 m3), how can I find time when:
    r= 0.69
    N0= 1
    Nt= 1.10 x 10^39
    They gave me this equation t= (ln(Nt) - ln(N0))/r but I'm not sure on what to do after that step (perhaps divide by 20? or multiply?). If anyone could help me figure it out, I'd really appreciate it.

    What if the population starts out higher than the carrying capacity?

    So the 0.2 is an example right? How do I find the rmax if it isn't given to me?

    If we set the integration of the growth rate function and set it equal certain limit then solve for r...but that is not how God works or does not work? God would improve on efficiency if all things to the max and let people have freewill of choosing their own happiness without violated other people individual pursuit of happiness
