  • 8 months after building my first woodgas fueled truck I have dubbed the Chevotafire, I discovered the sub par materials I built it out of were not to last withstanding the pacific northwest climate, IE RUST! So time to rebuild and get this 300+ mile to the gallon beast back on the road asap!

Well, nothing at that exact moment haha. Now I'm in a holding pattern as the silicone cures for a few days for the gaskets, guess that means I'll fix my coworkers clogged cat toyota highlander tomorrow after work, or start pulling the v10 fron the parts truck, or clean the shop, or work late i don't know I'll find something that needs done im sure

    Good upgrade Marcus.
I am glad you did not fall into the "just hafta' have a cyclone" over-think trap.
Dropping works by, yes: an enlarged volume space gas velocity reducing. Just like a stream or river dropping sediment at flow slowed down sections. Dropping works over a much wider range of flow rates with far less energy needed to flow through versus spin cleaning.
Cyclones work by gas flow velocity being increasing greatly. That takes energy to make happen. With the engine suction having to provide that. Suction that should be doing engine cylinder filling.
Good luck on your house purchasing.
    Regards
    Steve unruh

I was researching gold panning and thinking about how the heavys drop out with Eddie's and currents and it made sense to enlarge the space for the heavier then gas char to fall out over a bigger area, specially with our very lightweight soft wood char
Hope you and family are doing well!!

Great video! Wish you had a similar step by step for your original build of the gasifier! You make it look easy! Good tip on saving the brushes! Enjoyed the video, thank you for posting!

I have a step by step video series on my dodge woodgas truck over on the driveonwood forum, video documented start to finish. About 80% of it is here on RUclips as well, but the secret parts are over there since I don't own the rights to the book that I used to build it. That would be Mr Wayne Keith who designed it

Look forward to watching those on YT! I have Ben Peterson’s Wood Gasifier Bible, but I really like Wayne’s set up and would love to see it in person. Theory and Minimum Viable Product is one thing but your daily use and actual thousands of miles drive with lessons learned are invaluable. Thank you for sharing the knowledge!

@@yuriys3164 I would like to build a Ben Peterson one day, one of my good friends helped design and refine it before the book was made, close to 20 years of tinkering to dial that thing together

Got Wayne’s book and 6 month subscription to the forum. Newby question: how do I find your videos on there?

@@yuriys3164 once your logged in to the forum get in the premium section, that is all the Wayne Keith builds and spin offs of his design. Both my build threads are in that section this Toyota and my v10 dodge which I built completely on video start to finish with all the upgrades in Wayne's design

I have read on forums that burning wood (vs wood charcoal) will clog up your engine sooner or later. How has your experience been? How many hours of operation before you valves had to be cleaned?

    • @BigBeavrSlayer
      @BigBeavrSlayer  6 месяцев назад +1

Valves have never once been cleaned in either of my trucks, about 30,000 miles between both trucks. Forums are worthless and full of absolute idiots, people parroting what they heard or read. Believe nothing but your own experience and those who are out doing it every day, with REAL WORLD HOURS DOING THIS.
raw wood vs charcoal makes zero difference, gassifier design and the operator running it make ALL THE DIFFERENCE
Sorry if that comes off a little rant like, I can't stand the vast majority of forums and their negativity with zero experience. I can point you to a group of guys that run wood and char every single day across all countries of the world day in and day out with different wood species and different systems and hundreds of thousands of miles on the road and hours on stationary systems. Check out "drive on wood" . Com
Anyone that knows anything real about woodgas, that's where they end up. Real DOERS, not talkers

100% agree with you-that’s why I wanted to ask you, from practical example. Thank you. Would rather ask 1 person who actually did it vs 20 who thought about it.
