  • Old seals will leak eventually. Was going to buy seal kit and do it myself but Kubota was $200 for 4 Seals and then $135 for labor to put them in. This video is more how to remove and re install the lift arms, I had the seals replaced by another tractor shop that just matched old seals.

    Oh neat, thanks for sharing! I don't have anyone to teach me these things, so it's nice to learn a thing or two about tractors and other heavy machinery in case a situation arises where that knowledge can make things easier.

    No, you're right Rick, they self bleed and no it doesn't make a difference on which side, they're just a ram assembly, that's knowledge from a steering specialist for over 20 years, I'm retired now and I don't think I'll ever pick up another spanner again

      Yeah, most people think of brakes when it comes to hydraulics and think all systems need bleeding because brakes do. Some systems circulate, some don't.

    I've bonded with neighbors horse/ mare.
    Haven't had a chance to meet owner or person caring for her yet.
    Don't feed her, haven't even tried to pet her although she tried to put her head through the fence( electric)
    You needed to see it to appreciate it.
    Told her no, then proceeded to continue on my walk. She walked beside me til she came to the end of the fence.
    She will Winnie after I'm out of sight.
    She's won me over. ❤️

    The hydraulics will find the weakest link but the new seals in you lift cylinders won't cause the tilt cylinder to start leaking, different circuit used at different times but good thought. Good idea to cap your lines, when you put it all back together I have found it easier to put the pins in before hooking our hydraulic lines up. Hydraulic fluid won't flow through the cylinders until you activate the valve,

    Something we like doing with our tractors is to weld either a hook or a ball hitch on the top of the bucket. So when we need to lift stuff with our tractor, we can use a chain.

  • @areyouavinalaff
    @areyouavinalaff 2 года назад +1

    People seem to think all hydraulic systems are the same but they're not. Brakes are hydraulic and need to be bled, but these rams on tractor have oil which circulates through the system via a pump, so any air gets expelled during operation when it goes back to tank. With brakes the fluid doesn't circulate, isn't pumped back to tank, so it has to be bled on installation. It's good practice to change all related seals at once, not because of weak links, but because they're all the same age. If one seal has failed then the others won't be far behind, so may as well do all at once.

    • @ThinkLikeAHorse
      @ThinkLikeAHorse  2 года назад +3

      not long, would have been better to do all four since it was used 2009 tractor, that way I have a good base line knowing all my seals are good. but you have to cash to do it, most don't so they wait until they have to.
