- In this video, I continue my restoration of the Pioneer SX-1980. I replace the bulk electrolytic capacitors, install an upgraded power supply board, power up the receiver, troubleshoot and re-work both amplifier boards, and perform some initial testing. A lot of work done, a lot more to go.

I saw a video of you, with the tek scope years ago. I got a sx 1250, so your videos came up on my feed. Great videos on the 1980. The the dual trace on the scope looks so steady, that’s almost a photo of the both traces.
Very nice work.... inspiring even. Glad you're back at it!
Thanks Rob. Glad to be back.
This is EXCELLENT work - will be great if you can provide modern replacements that you used on the main amplifier board
Thank you for sharing.

Top work. Would you be so kind to post a website for the Stanby Individual Group in Canada thet makes the boards. Google has a problem finding ig.
Good call. I added a link to both the populated and unpopulated boards in the description.
@@dualityrepair4770 Top player! Thank you!
I'm sure the amplifier itself doesn't look as pretty as those circuits inside it...
No. Not yet..
Replacing the main reservoir capacitors was probably completely unnecessary. Those are computer grade caps with a lifespan of about a century. Odds are that they had NO problems of any kind and decades of good service remaining. Value, ESR, vent condition...probably all factors are good to go for decades to come. However it's obvious that most of the rest of the smaller electrolytics were quite due for replacement.
