As a person, an artist, and a Christian - this was INCREDIBLY encouraging. I’m facing major resistance as I’ve just broken off my engagement to pursue the life I know God has for me. I have all these dreams and desires, but resistance is making it impossible for me to take the steps to get there. This conversation was so inspiring and truly makes me want to break through to the other side. I will no longer identify with resistance, I’ll only agree with God’s will. Elli, let your faith SHINE. I love to hear you speak boldly about your faith and beliefs - I hang on every word. You guys are incredible! Keep this up, y’all are changing lives 🤍
I went through a time when I faced my worst nightmare of losing everything. I had depression and I struggled. I sought to find out more about myself. I saw psychiatrists and therapists and was on some medication. Getting help with being broke and depressed through the mental health profession was a good experience for me. However, my family was like a hungry lion just waiting for me to say the wrong thing so they could confront and condemn me with accusations of insanity. "Are you "off your meds?" was applied to the least change of mood. For these reasons, I'm so grateful to hear you talk about resistance in ways that some people would call "insane." What a relief to give the word some new shading in order to look at it from another view and understand it a little better. Resistance is the enemy I'm fighting daily so thank you for this meaningful, encouraging discussion. -- I'm an older person, a lifelong artist with skills who has always been hampered by issues like discouragement and resistance.
Great podcast. I like that statement "resistance is evil" because it is a devastating self-sabotaging negative. you must never let it overtake you, because the divine consciousness is telling you your art making is where you belong, you are meant to be doing that....I am taking notice and working fully to ignore that negative. And what Eli and Dimitra said about families dragging your spark and drive and passion down actually brought me to tears, because it's true and sometimes it takes a lifetime to recover from that BUT it's never, ever too late to return to your beautiful art making. If you are artistically inclined, It's very important as a young adult to do everything possible to discover who you are and want to be, and to develop the strength to stand tall against external forces from family to societal forces that still try hard to insist that "you get a job", "get a wage". Abundance comes naturally when you align with your own spirit and stay the course.
I love these conversations! I’ve just started the mastery program, and I know all about resistance 🤪 It’s crazy How resistance will stop you doing something you’re excited about, and instead make you fill the dishwasher and clean the kitchen! Anyway, that said I’m setting up my easel now to start an underpainting and I’m going to resist resistance! 💪🏼
I'm so glad I came across this video! It all makes sense to me now! You don't know how much this means to me. Whenever I read the bible or do art or do music, things that I'm passionate about, my mind would go idle and lead me to do sinful acts (I'm not gonna specify here). I always thought of it as "I am in the wrong direction, that's why I am always taking the temptation road." But now I realize it's completely the opposite. The evil would distract me and would sway me so I would stay away from things that would bring me closer to God or to connect with the spiritual! These sinful acts always make me feel sleepy, tired, lazy, and ashamed afterwards. This clarified everything to me!
To add! This will sound funny! I kept on prolonging and prolonging watching this video! Even my way to watching this video was initially warred by resistance! 😂
Resistens is the opposite of development and change. Its job is to keep everything as is. Status q. It is not evil. It just keeps holding everything together "as is". When you recognize it and break through it, it will also hold your change/development. It is highly flexible. Both ways. And it brings value to your development.
Thank you so much for this - this just speaks volumes. Resistance is evil and it's great to hear that we have power to not agree with it. Such wisdom and truth. Words are powerful, what we speak is powerful. Capturing every thought of resistance and putting it at the feet of Jesus - is our lifelong journey but it is powerful and it's our authority.
This was exactly what I needed to hear! I read the book the War of Art a long time ago...time to pull it back out again. Your conversation revealed and reframed Resistance for me in a tangible way that I feel I can address more successfully now! Wow...that feels empowering and liberating ! Its time for me to claim my gifts and get to "work"... thank you!
It makes it all the more valuable to me because you believe this is a spiritual battle and recognize God and the Bible. Thank you so muchfor the inspiration
