  • Hii :) In this video, I'm explaining all the processes of making this special oak pendant from a dried avocado seed/stone.
    In case you haven't seen it, here is the tutorial of drying an avocado seed: • How to Dry Avocado See... .
    If you're looking for tools for carving.
    This is the video talking about the tools I'm using:
    • Introduction to my Car...
    THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the positive comments on my previous videos, you make this world so beautiful and kind! There will be more videos coming up, and that's all because of you..Xxx :)))

    I'll be more than grateful and happy to have your support!
    In the future videos, I'll break down all the processes and create several lessons about how to carve. Please subscribe to my channel and let me know what would you like to watch.
    I've filmed almost all the processes when carving this piece, and that means I got over 2 hours of film clips when the carving is done!! :o
    There's too much to talk about when I think of all the details I've learnt from my experience, including the basics and advanced skills. I really don't want to scare people away by boring carving videos, so I tried my best to keep it brief. I wish.... Although I'm still speaking very slow, so feel free to change the speed.
    ++ For Safety ++
    *Please wear gloves while carving!!
    *Please keep working surface clear
    *Make sure you've got first aid kit at home just in case anything happens
    *Take rests every 30-60 minutes (walk around, look outside, stretch your body)

    Wow. I carve wooden blocks and spoons from tree branches so when I saw images of avocado pit carving I thot I can do that! I started a few but did them while they were still soft. Some pits I had dried so much that I threw them away! I didn't know you can still carve them like you are doing.. amazing really...I will try your style and see if I can do it with the tools I have. Thanks for the detailed videos.

      You definitely can! And dried seeds are much easier to carve the details. I was mostly carving wood before carving avocado seeds just like you :)

    • @ZaZaChiaChia
      @ZaZaChiaChia  4 года назад +3

      Efthalia Lazaridou Yes, you can:) Any natural oils can bring up the colour of the seed. However there’s a little different about using Tung oil, the coating of Tung oil could protect the seed from moisture and scratches.

    谢谢你的视频,真漂亮,我也在试着用牛油果核刻一些小东西,可是发现干了的果核中间居然有空洞。。。你有类似情况吗?

    • @ZaZaChiaChia
      @ZaZaChiaChia  4 года назад

      謝謝! 不好意思現在才看到留言....一個圓圓的完整的果核其實是兩瓣合在一起的,若要雕刻最好先分開它們,因為乾掉後很可能就會因為縮水而在兩瓣相連接處產生空洞。如果已經把果核的兩瓣分開後,還是會出現空洞的話也是有可能的,我也遇過一兩次次.. 每個果核的特性都會有點不同,每次都不一樣~但也不至於太難掌握:)

    hi!! i wanted to know why and how i can stop my avocado pits/seeds from turning orange/red-ish when im carving it. it doesn't seem like it happens to others when they carve their avocado pits

    • @ZaZaChiaChia
      @ZaZaChiaChia  3 года назад

      Ohhh, I’m afraid that is a natural oxidation and I don’t know how to stop it… it’s the same thing when we cut a fresh apple and it turns brown:)
      My seeds always turn orange every time if I cut it when it’s fresh (sometimes the inner sides could keep its original white colour but not always) and the colour turns from orange to brown when it’s dry.

    • @ZaZaChiaChia

      I always use pencils, and they have to be softer than B2. Or sometimes I mark the surface with a v-shape knife.

    If tung oil is not available, what can we use instead?

    • @ZaZaChiaChia
      @ZaZaChiaChia  3 года назад +3

      Unfortunately, I haven’t found other oil that could create a natural varnish (like a coating)that could stay for long time like Tung oil yet..
      But if you’re looking for colour enhancement and basic protection to block out moisture, most of the clear natural oil could do the trick, they just need to be reapplied once in a while. And a mixture of oil and wax is also a good choice!
      If you’re looking for one product to start with, maybe you could give boiled linseed oil a try, I haven’t tried it myself but know lots of great avocado carving artist are using it for finishing :)
