- In this video, I used 20 fresh lemon peels and made 5 mL of pur essential oil togehter with hydrosols. It demonstrates how to make lemong essential oil by steam distillation.
Lemon essential oil mainly contains limonene as monoterpiene and pinene. Lemon essential oil can be used as food additives, oil skin cleanser. Lemon hydrosol is great skin toner, chenmical free house cleaning, and stress relief spray.

I'm enjoying watching your videos. I'm using a pressure cooker with a tube going to the coiled copper tubing that is being cooled with cold water at it goes through. I didn't get any oil really. Just a thin layer on top of the liquid that is not enough to take from. What temperature should my stove be at and how much water? I used twelve lemons peeled. Should I leave it steam on low temperature or medium to high temperature? Or do I need more lemons?
Hi, thank you for your comments. Lemon or other citrus oil reside in the top layer of the peel. If you want to have a better yield you can try scratch off the top layer with a grater as shown in this video. Also use low heat. Higher temperature in pressure cooker can degrade oil. If you can make your pressure cooker hole bigger that can help reduce temperature inside.
