Introducing the Melges 15. What's so exciting?

SailZing.com will be using the Melges 15 as the basis for some new articles dealing with similar sail packages and techniques.
We also find the sailboat to be fast, exciting, and full of learning opportunities, so we're happy to join the fleet.
We spoke with Eddie Cox from Melges Performance Sailboats in February 2022 at the Sarasota Winter Series event. The Melges 15 had just won the Sailing World Boat of the Year award! www.sailingwor...

Great interview! Just getting into sailing and I’m so glad I have this introduction to the new Melges 15 boat. I have heard of Eddie Cox before. Such a legend in the sailing world so glad he is the one to explain this boat!

I gotta say, this could have been a terrible interview, but you saved it with magazine quotes, pictures and video of the boat, etc, filling out the A/V experience, so while he was slowly plodding away the viewer is kept interested. I have no doubt he knows his stuff, and maybe it was just a long day, but he doesn't seem to me to be the best person to be the public face of this endeavor...

Thanks for your comment Wilfred. We’re really happy that the result is that you benefitted from watching this video. Eddie is a nice guy, an awesome sailor and incredibly helpful with learning/tuning the boat. Melges, as an organization, tends to fill these roles with excellent sailing competitors who are technically knowledgeable and disciplined above all else. Our job at SailZing is to package expert knowledge like that in ways that make it accessible to a broader audience, and perhaps we accomplished that. I just started driving the Melges 15, and this boat is a lot of fun and and an excellent platform for discussing various concepts. So, off we go!

@@SailZing I get the feeling he is exactly as you describe: he seems like a wonderful person, super chill, awesome sailor, knows the boat inside out, just the guy I'd want to show me the ropes...I just don't see him as a good fit for the media/PR/ sales roll. Without your editing I most likely would have clicked away, certainly I would not have been excited about the boat. This was a master class in how you can dress out a slow interview and ultimately recover it as a valuable resource for your viewers.
