Thank you for sharing your favorite art materials! If you want your brushes to last, I highly recommend using Masters cleaner and brush preserver. When done painting, I clean the brushes first then shape the brush with the cleaner/preserver, dry flat, then put the brush away. I have never thrown out a brush - some of mine are over 30 years old. If you take good care of of them, they will last. I also do not crush the bristles - I paint and clean in the direction of the bristles. I buy high quality brushes, e.g. Series 7 by Winsor & Newton.
This is so true! I will get the cleaner and take more care of my brushes. I love that you have some that are over 30 years old! Wow you take care of them so well. I'll also look into the W&N ones too! Thank you for watching and letting me know about the cleaner :)
Hey Jaclyn! I’m sooo obsessed with your RUclips videos now! Thank you so much for the Drawfull shoutout! I hope to see everything you keep creating in the sketchbook ❤🥰
Ahhh! Hi Elaine! I'm so glad you liked the video. I love your sketchbook so much, the paper is just the right thickness to do mixed media in it. Once I fill this one I'll have to get your other one too. You make a great sketchbook! Thanks for watching, it means so much!
I have highly simplified my studio, donating a lot of art supplies that I haven’t used in a long time and knew I no longer wanted. And now I’m left with the supplies I love to use or at least want to use. I am always organizing and planning in every area of my home but especially the studio. I like things to be able to be accessed and put away easily. Your studio looks great! The Meeden cabinet of drawers looks like it would be such a great addition to any studio, attractive and practical! Do the drawers pull all the way out? I have thought about getting those for a long time…. I always talk myself out of spending money but the more I see these the more I think they would be helpful! To be honest- art supplies is where I spend the most money 😂 ! Your plein air kits are great- the pouches look perfectly sized. You are multi talented! Thank you for sharing your favorites.😊
I love that you’ve paired down your art supplies to the ones you love using! That’s so smart so you don’t get overwhelmed with choices 😝 well done!! And yes, the drawers come out all the way. I did this recently wit the colored pencil drawer so I could move it to my couch and draw. It’s very nice to have them all organized this way. 🙌🏼
I love the Salka pouches that I purchased from you in 2024. The sizes are perfect and it’s just so nice to be using quality art supplies handmade by another artist.
I purchased her bag and received I’d shortly after Christmas. It’s well made and it’s going to make me cut back my plein air setup significantly. A definite advantage as I get older and the hikes harder.
I love how well organized you are, as well as how aesthetically pleasingly you display your materials - such as hanging up your gouache tubes, those slim lined Meedan set of drawers etc! Must get myself one of those lamps too… thx for sharing 😊
Thanks for sharing your list of supplies and media you really use. Wow...I'd call you a minimalist compared to the amount of supplies that you have & use compared to what I and many others have. But that's good. Buying lots of colors or sets of colors or other supplies that we'll never use completely is so common for many artists...like me. It's fun, for sure, but ultimately, it's a waste of our resources if these supplies never get used.
I'm so glad you liked the video, thank you! haha yeah I am more of a minimalist with my art supplies. I've moved and traveled a lot in the past many years so I've paired down my supplies. :)
I have and love the first 2 books you showed. I plan to get Laws nature book as well. I have been wondering if there was a product like the watercolor graphite, do you have any video where you use it? BTW I live very near the Olympic Peninsula and love to frequent Art Toolkit! Thank you.
Aww I love that you go to Art Toolkit! I want to visit their new space now that they are downtown PT. It looks awesome! I loved living on the Olympic Peninsula, but needed more sunshine than Washington gave. Oh and I have a video on the watercolor graphite from last year (probably should do an updated one lol) ruclips.net/video/JboU5vTqrtQ/видео.htmlsi=7k8MmtF9WlzckV8T
@jaclyn bear Its my opinion on the hyped companies like blackwing that they are so ridiculously made overly expensive to a product that comes down to wood and graphite and ca metal clip. There are so, so many pencils out there who exist since centuries now like for example faber castell who have artists pencils for a normal price. Here - mostly women - pay such high imprudent prices for the csttus the pencil carries in the YT and. Instagram world. They should not be pushed further up to the top with their unjustified ridiculous high prices for a normal pencil.
Hi! I'm sorry you don't care for the blackwing pencils, I absolutely love them! My favorite parts about it are that the graphite has never once broken off for me (other brands have) and I've had these pencils for about 2 years now. I also love that the eraser/metal part is rectangular so it doesn't roll away from me (I've had that happen out in the field many times and even just on my desk with other regular pencils). So it's important to me to have that. I also just love how it looks. I like my art supplies to look aesthetically pleasing because it makes my heart happy to look down at my messy desk, but it's a beautiful mess :) And as for the price, we all just pick and choose what is in our budget and works for us. I also have lots of thrifted supplies in my studio. So feel free to watch my thrifting video to see how I found things for my studio on a budget :) I hope that helps better explains why I enjoy using these.
So many amazing art supplies in this video! I especially love that teeny tiny little brush you have! 😍
I love that brush too! It’s so useful for the small details!

Love the way you store your tubes in a cup with color coding on lids! Great way to wrangle my mess😂
I’m so glad you like it! It makes life easier for me 😆

I use a tiny empty bottle of hand sanitizer for watercolour water when on the go with my super-tiny kit. It's a game-changer.
That’s a brilliant idea! I have a small little tube thing I could also use as a water container now that I think about it. Thanks for the idea!!
@@jaclynbaerart I have another one for salt and one for rubbing alcohol for effects.
@@seasea12 ooohhhh I love that so much! I've done those effects before, but didn't think about taking them out into the field in a little bottle!
Yes, please, I would like a video on the acrylic gouache. I have a set of the primaries which I haven’t done anything with. Thanks for your videos!
I will add that to my list of future video ideas! I'm glad you like that idea. :)

I love being organized and making it look cute. :) I love thrifting boxes and things to organize too! Thanks for commenting!
Add some magnetic tape to your board and the arttoolkit small palette with stick to your board.
That's a great idea too! I don't have any magnetic tape, so for now I use clips, but I like this idea!
thank you. would love a video on gouache.
Perfect! It's on the list to create! I'm so glad you want a video about it! I love painting with gouache!
Very organised. I'm inspired to declutter and do a reorg of mine!😊
I’m so glad you like it and are inspired to reorganize 🙌🏼
Soooooo excited for your video love your channel ❤

I believe that Art Toolkit is based in Vancouver, BC Canada. At least that’s where my last couple of orders were shipped from there.
Ooohh maybe they ship stuff from there, but I know their shop is in Port Townsend - a very cute town on the water!
Great video 👍
Thank you so much for watching!
I hope you will bring back the Salka carry bag in 2025
I will be! I took a break for the holidays but will be bringing it back! eek! I'm so glad you like it! Thank you!
Loved your video. Can you share a link to the class you took for drawing people?
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked the video! Here's a link to her class (it's amazing!): www.dearelaine.co/illustrative-people-landing
I’d like to know more about the different kinds of gouache. I’m hoping to start with some gouache but don’t know what to choose
Perfect! I started creating my notes on a video about gouache that’s I’m excited to create!

have you tried the caran d'ache pencils?
I have tried a few. Have you? Do you have any favorites?
