I can't tell you how much I enjoy your reviews. You seem like such a positive gentleman, and you just enjoy playing every guitar. I enjoy your passion. Keep it up!
I have watched most of your guitar reviews but this LS16 ARE made me smile EVERYTIME I "listen". This guitar has many characters. Be it lively, dramatic, mysterious, really really made me smile with how it sound....this guitar has so much emotion on it... beautiful! And thank you Jarvis for making me fall in love with the right instrument that I could play for years....
Thank you for such a complete and detailed review. Not often do we get that on here. Truly appreciate the time you have obviously taken to learn the complete instrument. I will subscribe and be checking back often. I have found locally what may be the previous model. I appreciate your explanation of how to upgrade the guitar for better sound. Also, thank you for playing so well and allowing us to hear your talent.
Great reviews! You just made me preorder this guitar. Can't wait to get it! Also Your playing is really tasteful, lyrical and inspirational - makes me wanna just grab guitar and play!
Thank you for the excellent review Jarvis. I Love your enthusiasm for guitars and life. Health before wealth is great advice. These new Yamaha's appear to be great value guitars, WOW! God Bless You Bro! P.S. You sound like Tommy Emmanuel around the 18 mins
I've had mine about about 2 weeks and already used it on about 3 gigs. The only thing I wish were that they put a strap pin on the neck heel, and at the minimum a volume control. Other than that I love it. The quality (woods) is scary good for the price. Slightly smaller in length and bout widths than my other new guitar, Taylor 214ce Deluxe. Love this Yamaha.
Lovely sweet sound. I have owned a couple of Yamaha acoustics in the past but I could never get used to their tight string spacing. If they have sorted that out with this model I could well be buying one! Great demo by the way.
i really like this guitar. what im really impressed with is your style of play. i recognized some passages you were playing but were any of those your originals? i love the chord voicings you choose and really enjoyed the video. where can i find more of your playing? not just reviews
Very beautiful guitar with crystal clear highs! But I much more prefer the LJ16 A.R.E. which sounds more to my liking: more volume and much warmer ;) (yes I swapped my ls16 for the lj16) Btw thanks a lot Jarvis, for your reviews + lovely playing. It helped me a lot!
Hello Jarvis, I found a great offer on a LS16R (Rosewood I believe) and I am unsure if it is the A.R.E. model or the older model. Do you know if there is some way to tell between the non-A.R.E. model and the newer ones with A.R.E. technology? Thanks in advance, I really want this guitar but everyone says the A.R.E. models are much better, especially with Rosewood.
I got so lucky! I just bought exactly this guitar. But, it is dark tint limited edition. The machine heads are different. I got it for an incredible price and with a beautiful hard case.
David Serianni, I found it online. It was at Guitar Center in one city, in the state of Alabama. You just feed the strings in the hole of the tuners and it has a screw head at the bottom of the machine head. So, it holds the string from the inside and you just tighten that and turn the tuner. As it turns it cuts the excess of the string. No tolls required whatsoever to change the strings; since I put power pins. I changed the saddle to buffalo bone and the nut to 1 3/4 tusq. They made a mistake when they priced it. Because they told me it had no electronics. I asked them are you sure it is an LS 16? They said yes. Because the price was so low. So I thought it was an older model without a pick up. But, to my surprise it was one of the new ones with the passive pick up, 5 piece neck. Exactly like the one Jarvais is playing. But, limited edition. The color is dark tint and the tuners are different as far as what I see. It is in excellent condition. I researched the model and it was made in Taiwan January 12, 2015. I would sell it to you if I could. Because I have the LL16. The bigger one. The LS 16 sounds brighter and has real good sustain. The LL 16 sounds a little deeper warmer.
$450 with the upgrades included. I would not include the power pins. I want to use them I'm my other guitar. So the nut is Tusq and the saddle would be buffalo bone.
I got the 2012 Taylor Big Baby after watching your review on it, I'm starting to feel the same way about this guitar I just need to find somewhere that stocks one to try it out.
Hello Jarvis and many thanks for your great reviews. I was considering purchasing a Taylor 414ce as a lifetime guitar and would like your informed opinion on how this guitar compares in terms of build, tonal quality and electronics with the Taylor. I appreciate the Taylor is Ovangkol and this is Rosewood and one is three times the price of the other but I would value your views regarding which would be best in terms of value and which one you would choose as a lifetime guitar.
Thank you so much for this review. I have been searching like a fiend for info on the "NEW" L Series. Is the string spacing a little wider compared to the previous version? That is one of the knocks people were giving the previous version - not really a true 1 3/4". I heard they addressed that - true?
Hi great review as always! which one would you buy between the ll16 a.r.e and ls 16 a.r.e as my first all around acoustic? i would use it for fingerstyle and for strumming.... thanks
Jarvis, I got a Yamaha LL16 about a year ago, and I noticed the top seems rather thick to me. Have you noticed this with most L/LL series with the Englemann spruce? I wonder how this effects the vibration.

Ok so your reviews are great, but the best part is seeing how much you love and feel music. Keep the notes coming

The label should have the word ARE IN IT
The Guitar Spa Singapore Thanks a million!! I'm going to jump on this opportunity!!
Was that the mahogany or rosewood version?
sounds really great.. how much does it cost?
Good review , I regret not buying a ls26 a few years ago and like the model , what are the replacement tiers you recommend ?
Jack
What is the Best Acoustic Guitar from Yamaha if you will choose?
the best is the highest model they have to offer
What is the highest model now and latest so that i have an idea or option to buy new best acoustic guitar?
Just check the yamaha web don't be lazy dude
I got so lucky! I just bought exactly this guitar. But, it is dark tint limited edition. The machine heads are different. I got it for an incredible price and with a beautiful hard case.
Hey Jose, where did you get your guitar and how much did you pay for it?

Thanks Jose for getting back to me. If you were to sell it, (the LS 16) how much would you be asking?
$450 with the upgrades included. I would not include the power pins. I want to use them I'm my other guitar. So the nut is Tusq and the saddle would be buffalo bone.
I'm interested, but we can't discuss here. How can I reach you privately?
I got the 2012 Taylor Big Baby after watching your review on it, I'm starting to feel the same way about this guitar I just need to find somewhere that stocks one to try it out.
have you tried the LS6 ARE? Do you have any pros and cons to that one?

--- Very great sound. ---
yes it is...great sounding piece

yes i think so
What Capo brand do you use?
How about Strings Brand and Specs?
thanks much
Jarvis, are the newer ls16 models still 44mm at the nut? Meaning are they a tad smaller than the traditional 44.5mm nut of a 1 3/4?
Hi great review as always! which one would you buy between the ll16 a.r.e and ls 16 a.r.e as my first all around acoustic? i would use it for fingerstyle and for strumming....
thanks
I prefer the LS16 ARE tone
Jarvis, I got a Yamaha LL16 about a year ago, and I noticed the top seems rather thick to me. Have you noticed this with most L/LL series with the Englemann spruce? I wonder how this effects the vibration.
Hey Jarvis! What do you think: for a low budget (like 800$) an Yamaha LS16 (without Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) is better for me?
buy it if you like it..the older models are also good but this one has 20-30% more mojo
The Guitar Spa Singapore
I wouldn't mind hearing them side by side.
Is this NEW LS16 ARE available in Singapore? Where might that be?
Luthermusic or Musicplaza at Plaza Singapoura
Have you played an L with mohagony?
No Yet Man...still waiting for someone to send it in ..
Taylor 214CE or YAMAHA LS16 ARE? thanks
00 size boby?
How is the top with heavy strumming? Does it over drive the top? I can decide on the LL16 or LS16.
Still good
how is the sound of this solid guitar comparing to LS6 (laminate)? I don't know if an extra $300 worth the difference?
Subtle difference. But for the spec it should be 1500+ so it's worth the money.
More depth and clearer trebles .. More overtones
thank you for your response
hi ls16 owners. i am getting a new one soon can somebody tell me if the gotoh 510 tuners are drop in replacements? or i will need to drill holes?
plastic nut and bridge and pins is abit cheap for a guitar that cost rrp 750 quid
Is there much difference in the tone of ls16 and ls16 are?
the new ARE have a wider tonal responses and louder yet more responsive...livelier top
I'm so pround from Yamaha guitar, there upgrade guitar sound better .If there change saddle and bone nut from factory I think the best better,
well they have plastic saddle and nut ...TO keep the cost down
@terng lee You can replace the nut and saddle yourself for much cheaper than you would pay to have it come on the guitar.
