Jack Higgins's THE EAGLE HAS LANDED is well-known through its film adaptation, and I'm a little sad that the sequel novel was never adapted for film or television too. Nonetheless, BBC radio adapted both books with the same cast - including Jack Higgins playing himself to frame the story (albeit credited under his real name). As before, though this is a war story - and one that takes the audacious step of making 'baddies' into 'goodies', with an IRA agent and a German paratrooper as the heroes - it's also very much an adventure story. It turns out that Kurt Steiner survived being shot when his attempt to kill Winston Churchill failed - and now British Intelligence have an offer for him that will put him on the side of the angels...

Just as good as the Eagle Has Landed, both books are in my top 5 that I have read, and I have read many ,many books across so many genres, war,sci-fi,history, etc, great adventure and a great radio play 😊

You might like a series that will appear on this channel very soon - it's called 'Slipstream', and though it's science-fiction, I think it was very obviously inspired (in part) by Jack Higgins. Imagine a version of Craig Thomas's Firefox, but instead of an American agent stealing Soviet Super-Aircraft, it features a heroic German pilot helping the British to steal a Luftwaffe Super-Weapon...

I love them both; from what I remember they adapted the second book within months of it being published, so it was quite a coup for BBC radio...

Wonderful! Thank you for posting! This is one of my top three Higgins novels-the other two being The Eagle Has Landed and The Valhalla Exchange.

I hope you've already seen that there's also a radio adaptation of 'Landed' with the same cast... as it happens BBC radio also adapted 'Exocet' circa 1990 but I didn't record it and I don't think it's been repeated in the years since...

Oh, and - you might also like 'Slipstream', a radio serial that I uploaded which seems to have been at least a little bit inspired by Jack Higgins - it's about a heroic Luftwaffe pilot who agrees to help the British steal a German super-aircraft (which may be alien in origin).

It is a youtube thing - this channel isn't monetized (since none of the content is of my own creation) and they stick adverts in where a video has licenced music - but it seems that the more popular the video, the more adverts they add. I can only recommend looking into the options for ad-suppression...
