I think it’s important, especially when one cruises frequently, to always be excited about your next cruise. Destinations are first, ship is second, and onboard experiences are third. That includes being well cared for and meeting others. I’ve become so much richer in my knowledge of the world by meeting people on the ship and on land. That may include a shared meal or a drink!😉
A very interesting question posed by the fearless leader. In 2 weeks we will be embarking on cruise number 239. I realize that puts me in a different category of cruise excitement than most others. Other than next years Christmas Markets Cruise which is something that we have never done, I can honestly say that I no longer experience the euphoria and heart stopping anticipation that accompanies boarding a ship. We have gone everywhere in the world that we are interested in seeing numerous times. I now cruise solely for the change of scenery from my patio and lazy boy and the hum drum of everyday retired life. The socializing with people and new friends that I meet on board is the most important aspect to me. Don’t get me wrong, we still do approximately 10 cruises and 100 days at sea per year so I still love the experience just in a different way.
My favorite thing about cruising is the ocean and the changing scenery. I love the sail ins and sailaways. A very close second are the people (especially, Allison, Gordon, and our Let's Go Family Members.) I am an introvert but just love having dinner with these people. Destinations are probably next, ship and food next, and last is entertainment. Because I am an introvert i can entertain myself with a good book, people watching, or watching the scenery!
Looking out at the ocean. It’s just so mesmerizing and beautiful. Seeing new countries and seeing how the different cultures live. Love going to the shows on the cruise.
I guess I would have to say the destinations. But really I love it all and am happy to be blessed enough to be able to just go. I try and look for the joy we experience together wherever we are!!!
For me, #1 is interacting with the crew and possibly building some new friendships. I love a cordial group of passengers. Even if it is a quick "good morning" as opposed to people that will not even look at you. #2 is the ship. I love ship life. Getting away from everything and having fun, trying new things, seeing new places, or just relaxing. #3 for me is the ocean. I love being on the ocean. It is something I will never tire of, and I also think that is has something to do with my Dad. He loved the ocean and was quite the fisherman. He loved being out there and I think I got it from him.
I am most looking forward to the ports of call, being pampered, no cooking or cleaning! I look forward to the good food and the entertainment and relaxing in my cabin sitting on the balcony enjoying the scenery 😊
My favorite thing about cruising is the excitement of going to new places. Also to places that we have been and seeing a different part. Enjoying the ship and activities and of course the food.
Your sentiments are EXACTLY how I feel about cruising! However, when we have to miss a port due to weather I get VERY disappointed. I also love going to the shows and enrichment presentations on the ships!
I used to dream of going on a cruise since seeing “The Love Boat” but never imagined I could ever afford it. I see now that it makes a big difference not having to pay for meals, not having to get a hotel and visiting great ports. Alaska is my favorite place so far and I stand and look as I cruise and can only praise God for the beautiful picture he gives us. My sister, who had dementia went with me on a cruise and I remember her saying, out loud, ‘Wow! Don’t you just want to say God Bless America!” So many agreed!!! She had since passed but I always remember her happiness!!! Thank you for all the great info you give. I was on the Princess Love Boat and wished I could have said hello. Thank you for all you do, God bless!
We cruise specifically for the destinations, next new ships, or brands, next included perks, they offer. We live in Florida and rarely embark from Florida because we have already seen the entire carribean for the most part. We keep searching for the exotic and new.
Hi Allison, I haven't had any issues with anyone on the Sun Princess Transatlantic from Southampton. I'm having a great time. I did run into Don and gave him your regards. Life is what you make of it. Don't sweat the little things.
Hi Michael, Thank you for the update from the beautiful Sun Princess! I’m glad you are having a great time. All the report are of influencers on the cruise before this one. Thank you for giving Don my regards. Most of all, thank you for remind us all to not sweat the little things. Life is much too short!
I enjoy the destinations and being on the ship, meeting crew and other passengers. My very most favorite thing to do while on the ship is to sit on my balcony and listen to the waves lap against the ship and look out over the ocean. It is sooo relaxing!
Things I love about cruising the most are destinations, entrainment (including trivia, shows, comedy, gambling, bingo, and sing-a-longs), and meeting and interacting with people. I'm like you about food, I've never been hungry on a cruise, some ships are better than others but I'm not super picky. I'm a recently retired teacher and am looking forward to being able to travel on non-school holidays so I can save money!! We have 6 cruises booked this year and next, including 2 back to back cruises, all on Princess. We are going on the Emerald next month, the Sun in November (2 back-to-back), the Crown in February-March, and the Sky May-June (2 back-to-back cruises). I am so excited to go to many places we have never been!! I love the jumper you are wearing that color looks so good on you! Thank you for all you do, I love how informed you keep us!!!!!
Destinations are the biggest things for us Alison but unlike you we rarely go back to the same places as there are so many new destinations all around the world that we are keen to explore and learn about. And oh yes...as you say just being on the big blue sea is a special kind of magic!
What do I get excited about cruising. Oh my goodness where do I start. We just love getting on the ship in the first place. Waking up to a new place. Destinations. Meeting other like minded people. Vacation!!!!! Hotel on water. I love cruising
Enrichment on ship & Excursions Food and wine list Entertainment Because we have cruised so much. Many destinations are familiar to us. However, new destinations would be #1 (above)
We live in Florida and we are fine because we live inland in central Florida. There was power outages. We have a full house generator so again we were ok. BUT the devastation to those on the coast in the path are unfathomable.
Hi Allison, My husband and I had a disappointing cruise on Discovery Princess to Alaska May 2024. Firstly, we expect to encounter knowledgable and friendly staff. The chaos and disorganization we encountered at the port along with the poor attitudes from staff really was disheartening. This ship leaves from this port every 7 days you'd think they had some sort of system in place by now. Secondly, we expect to get what we pay for. We were in a reserve mini suite. At least half of the room upgrades were non existent. Our poor room steward kept trying to make up for it but it wasn't his fault. Lastly, there seemed to be very low morale among the crew. No one seemed happy to be there. I heard more staff being unfairly scolded by managers than on any other cruise. It was not a fun cruise.
I want to see new destinations and meet new people. I also enjoy the food and the view of the sea. Oops forgot sunrise and sunset on the high seas..makes me so happy. Does anyone know about changes to free at sea on NCL?
I’m so confused. We are taking our grandson who will be 14. Our timeframe is very narrow. Basically the month of June. I would prefer to stay with Princess. We took our granddaughter to Alaska this past June. My husband doesn’t really go back to Alaska again. In some ways, so many choices, and in another way, not so much, especially if you start considering other cruise lines. He doesn’t really care for a floating amusement park. He is somewhat of an introvert. What to do?
Maybe wait til he’s older. He might be interested in cruising by then. My son wasn’t interested in his teen years. As he got older, he thought more about trying it. He didn’t have the usual peer anxiety that comes with that age. He’s still not a fan like I am but if it’s a family celebration, he would consider it again.

Itinerary, ship experience, being on the water, entertainment, food and the people are tops for me!

You look so lovely in the cream colored blouse
Thank you so much ❤️
Same thing, excited every time to go on a Hawaii cruise, though we've sailed this same cruise 6 times.
I look forward to the games on Princess.
What do I get excited about cruising. Oh my goodness where do I start.
We just love getting on the ship in the first place. Waking up to a new place. Destinations. Meeting other like minded people.
Vacation!!!!! Hotel on water. I love cruising
we had a tree come down with Helene and hit back of house. Charlotte was hit about 6am today (Friday 27th)....hugs to all

Perhaps try a different itinerary for Alaska or a cruisetour. It is a big state and there is so much to see and do
The influencers...we don't need more like them.
