Hi all, again thank you for viewing this video and leaving such lovely comments. It’s always a pleasure to read them. There is just something I wanted to share though. So this video has lately been getting many viewers not only from the figure skating fandom but from the anime fandom too, and there have been A LOT of comments comparing Hanyu Yuzuru to Yuri from ‘Yuri on Ice’, for obvious reasons... haha. So my initial intention was to create a video about Yuzuru Hanyu to show what an incredible skater he is and how hard he has worked to get to where he is today. I picked this song after watching Yuri on Ice because I felt that it perfectly reflected Yuzuru’s skating life. However, there are many people who speculate that the character Yuri was “inspired by” or is literally a “copy and paste” of Yuzuru, which is very fair to assume considering the nature of this video. If you do a bit of research and get to know Yuzuru though, you’d find that Yuri was actually inspired more so by many other fantastic figure skaters and is not really a carbon copy of one person. FYI I think it’s great that this video has attracted fans from both fandoms (anime and figure skating). I love Yuzuru and I’m also an anime otaku so I support both fandoms. I think it is completely fine to talk about them in the same context, but I would like to ask you all to respect Yuzuru as you do so. He is very much a person of his own just as Yuri is a character of his own. Lastly, I have left a link in the description box to a blog post I created a while ago on tumblr regarding this topic. If you would like to please feel free to have a read and it may give you a new perspective.
NakaMina I completely agree with you to respect Yuzuru as a separate person and not just on whom Yuri's character is based on. I'm not a hardcore fan of figure skating but I know talent and hardwork when I see it. Few days ago I just happened to randomly watch figure skating videos and his name came up a lot so I really respect him for his hardwork and will to push ahead. Also you are completely correct that Yuri is a mix of various figure skaters as when I was watching the anime I looked it up.🙃
Of course, I understand your point, similarly, I'm a fan of anime and figure ice skating, like Nathan or Evgenia, and obviously Hanyu. This song seems to be very suitable to represent the effort that Yuzuru has put into his career since he was a junior skater because, as the song says, he was born to make history. Watching the anime "Yuri on ice", I have noticed certain similarities and certain differences of Yuri with Yuzuru, for me Yuri represents more the effort of all the skaters who have fought for their dreams of expressing themselves, like Yuzuru and many others. So, if you have already seen the anime, meet Yuzuru and his talents, and, if you already know Yuzuru know the priceless anime "Yuri on ice", I swear that you will not regret in either case. (No one else hurts the sea of emotions that this video causes along with this song, dancing between tears ;-;)

he truly is the prime example of making history. yes, he has talent but also it comes from his own endless hard work and practice!! he inspires me so much to aim higher. What I’ve learnt is that if you are consistent and work hard enough, you too, can touch your dreams.
@@angelinamyers2637 He didn't land it at the Olympics, but he did a perfect landing in practice at the Toronto Cricket Club and it was videoed by someone who watched it! Unfortunately, that doesn't count "officially." :( If he hadn't injured his ankle, I bet he would've completely landed it.(OK... it did get certified, though, later! There is reaction video for it.)
As a skater myself, He really has inspired me. I started skating later than everyone else but i’ve learnt to accept that i’m no different. I’ve won 3 gold medals in competition and every year skate for my rinks christmas show.
@@AnimeLover-zt4ho I think it was cup of china 2014 or 2015. He and Yan Han, a Chinese skater crashed into each other during the warm up session. He skated on painkillers and through mild concussion, fell multiple times on jump attempts but still managed to get on the podium (I can't remember if it was gold or silver for him) But yeah, it was hard to watch him skate that program 😢 but he's so strong and braved through the pain 💪🏻😭❤️

@@johankaogg1857 unfortunately, Yuri was inspired from another skater that the author likes. Not from Yuzu. That time Yuzu was not very popular in Japan yet since he was still young.
I started skating when I was 3 and would always watch videos of him skating and would try to copy what he did.I got hurt A LOT.But I kept watching him and even got to watch him skate when my skating company took us to one of his compositions.It was so breathtaking watching him skate and I even cried.Im now 13 and I’m on a national team and my dream is to meet him in person.(I’m currently learning Japanese in case the day come lol).Well no matter what I can 100% say he is my inspiration

I was at Fantasy on Ice 2023 in Kobe last weekend. Yuzu skated to "History Maker" sung live by Dean together with other skaters at the opening of the show. You literally predicted the collaboration by Yuzu and Dean! Amazing!
Hi, I'm just a passerby who came across this video because of History Maker song. I do not know Hanyu Yuzuru but this brief 3 minutes brought me to tears. I can see his growth, his grief, his joy, his life, his confidence, his disappointment, his victories... so much emotions that cannot be described by words. Thank you for making this video. This guy inspired me sooo much. I started skating because of him, he can do it so I can do it also you know nothing is impossible. I started as a dork skating at the side of the rink and fell a million times. But I worked harder because that’s what hanyu does right? I got in the competition and won 3 straight Gold medals in 3 diff. programs🤯 It was unexpected. Thank you Yuzuru Hanyu for being such a huge inspiration to me ILOVEYOUUU💙 u doing right keep going💜
He never gave up, this video is so inspiring and his story so brilliant! even with failures he perfected himself, even with the falls he strengthened himself and finally overcame, grew and shaped his own future. It makes me believe that dreams come true when there is commitment!

Don’t worry, Yuzu knows. Although he doesn’t have his own social media accounts, a lot of videos show that he pretty much know what’s going on in the internet. A lot of speculation is going around that he has a social media account because he said something along the lines of “that’ll probably go viral in twitter” after the skaters did their pre-show ritual in this year’s stars on ice. I suggest you join fan groups in social media. During his birthday last December 2020, his fans in one facebook group compiled birthday messages which were made into greeting cards. Almost a thousand greeting cards were made and mailed to Rink Sendai which forwarded the greeting cards to Yuzu. :)
Nobody can beat Yuzuru Hanyu San. Whether he fall, lose or injury, nobody performs like him in the history of figure skating. He carries all. He fly like a bird in the ice, he plays and interpret the music, he dance Gracefully, flawless, elegant excellent artistry performance with a perfection! Greatest Of All Time, Yuzu! Wow!
Oh choked with this masterpiece, Yuzuru is such a beautiful person, with a lot of determination, he has overcome a lot of things, and he is the most amazing skater in the history of the sport, we are lucky guys, we living in Yuzu´s era, people are going to talk about him for years and years on and we can say we got to see him competing NOW.

I hope there's a way, for him to know. That we all love him. Not just people who are able to watch him dancing on ice. But also us, who can only see him through screens. I hope he knows how much we love him and all we pray for is his happiness. You made and you are still making history. After your win in 4 continents (you now have your Super Slam!), we are missing you but! Please take care of your health. Emotionally, physically and spiritually. Don’t worry, Yuzu knows. Although he doesn’t have his own social media accounts, a lot of videos show that he pretty much know what’s going on in the internet. A lot of speculation is going around that he has a social media account because he said something along the lines of “that’ll probably go viral in twitter” after the skaters did their pre-show ritual in this year’s stars on ice. I suggest you join fan groups in social media. During his birthday last December 2020, his fans in one facebook group compiled birthday messages which were made into greeting cards. Almost a thousand greeting cards were made and mailed to Rink Sendai which forwarded the greeting cards to Yuzu. :)

He fly like a bird in the ice, he plays and interpret the music, he dance Gracefully, flawless, elegant excellent artistry performance with a perfection! Greatest Of All Time, Yuzu! Wow!
Oh choked with this masterpiece, Yuzuru is such a beautiful person, with a lot of determination, he has overcome a lot of things, and he is the most amazing skater in the history of the sport, we are lucky guys, we living in Yuzu´s era, people are going to talk about him for years and years on and we can say we got to see him competing NOW.
