  • Explore the entirety of the Chicago portion of the Sanitary and Ship Canal and the epic public transit trips that got us to and from the launching points.
Fun Fact: As of this video, we've covered an entire 13.5 miles of longitude from Four Mile Crib to Harlem Avenue. Despite this, we still have not paddled the entire width of Chicago. Drawing a line down from the Western edge of O'Hare would lead to the intersection of the Canal and the Cal Sag river.

Very interesting video, it would be great to have more commentary about the industrial places you encounter and the function they serve

I think you're right, it's super important to have a solid, well-rounded knowledge of urban geography, which includes both the cute, walkable TODs and the 'sacrifice zones' that no-one wants to think about.

I would definitely suggest taking the trip sometime! I will warn that the asphalt smell was genuinely terrible. If you have an inflatable Pelican, it's a lot of fun to use transit, as it enables 1-way kayak trips and you get to explore more of the river in a single trip. As part of the channel's Chicago 77 Challenge, we'll cover Clearing eventually, so stay tuned!
