Thank you, Dominique - you're so professional, personable and eloquent . I am very late 40s and was refreshed to learn from you - you're realistic. While I love watching some of the popular Milennial makeup channels, it was nice to feel more connected here. You inspired me to go out and purchase a few different brushes, foundation, concealer and shadows - and practice blending and perhaps try some new application techniques.
Even though this video is almost two years old, it made an impact on me today. It's hard aging beautifully, let alone gracefully - add three teen boys - and well... here I am late in the night searching for videos on how to ACTUALLY apply makeup! I am hardly glamorous, but your instructional and calming videos make me feel a little less daunted and a lot more encouraged. TY!

Oh! I saw something helpful on another Chanel. Once we identify the brushes for each area mark them with similar tape so there is no guesswork. I’m thinking even a dot of nail polish would work. So, for example, all blush brushes might have a dab of blue on the tip. The system can be anything as long as we understand it! Lol

This was so helpful! I discovered makeup at an early age in the 80's, and the brushes back then came in the makeup! Ive bought many brushes, but stuck to the ones I know..., Ive seen so many in the stores, and wondered "what is that giant fan for?"...or "what do you use that tiny brush for?" Thank you for explaining what there for, and how to use them...Im going to expand my brush collection, and experiment!

Have you tried a beauty blender type sponge? I used to hate them but I recently bought the Flower Beauty one and I love it for foundation especially when I want a more sheer natural look.

Thankyou so much for this video Dominique, very thorough explanation of brushes and their uses. I was a bit overwhelmed when I went shopping for brushes for the 1st time in my life at 66. Oh I had about 3 or 4 brushes for Blush, bronzer etc. but now i hv a full array for shadows, Concealer, brow, blending, contouring, soft eyeliner, highlighting etc thx to your full tutorial, it was really fun buying them but I should hv done so online as sephora was very pricey and I bought about 15. Lol.
You came into my life at the perfect time I appreciate this so much!. I am now 66 and my skin has changed these last 2-3 years. I now see pigmentation, dark spots, jowls, Marionette lines so....i want to look better and feel good, hide some neck and jowl lines so...makeup time. Love your channel. Xo

Great video, thank you! For those that would like a bit more in-depth information on how the type of hair in a brush can determine whether you get a sheer or more intense application, I highly recommend this video. The demos at the end are extremely educational showing how the choice of brush can give a VERY different outcome with the exact same eyeshadows, etc.
Always clear, concise directions for which we are so thankful.

So many brushes!! 😵 Thank you for explaining what to look for, and why, when choosing brushes. As an old school make up user, the thought of “there’s a brush for everything” is fairly intimidating!

Thank you so much for covering this topic. I was a little lost. Except for eyeshadow we never used brushes back when. Lol We just used our fingertips and hands. Until my hand girls moved in with me 8 yrs ago. I had no idea how indepth/complicated doing makeup and hair could be. I have large a bit the past years how much has changed. But you covered brushes for products n techniques I hadn't heard about until the past 4/5 years. I had no idea how it skin care and makeup had into more than just art, but more science as well, since the 60s n 70s. I was never into all that primping and such. Just a natural beauty type. But since retiring am intrigued and exploring it all more. Thanks again.

I recently found your channel and it has become an addiction. I have found encouragement from your videos as I care for my little boy who is in a wheelchair...he loves to watch you as well! Really! We watched together your posts on packing and traveling to Italy because we go often and I am a student of the Italian language. I started my life in my family cosmetology school and then opened my own firm in interior decorating so I agree with your approach to presenting ourselves to the world and I greatly miss my professional life.
