  • Tortosa, a two-thousand-year-old city, is the result of the progression of the cultures that have inhabited it, since all of them have left their mark. Presided over by the Zuda castle, Tortosa has a beautiful old town.
A good way to start discovering Tortosa is to walk through its old town: along the colorful and charming Calle de la Rosa, to reach Plaza de la Cinta, which borders the endearing Romeu portal. Next we can visit the Cathedral of Santa María (the access is located in the Porta de Palau).
The Royal Colleges of Tortosa complex becomes a mandatory stop for all those who visit the city.
In the 10th century the Jewish community of Tortosa was already significant. A part of that atmosphere of the aljama is still preserved, with its urban layout and network of narrow, white alleys.
To obtain a magnificent view of the city, the Els Ports massif and the entire territory as a whole, a good proposal is to visit the Zuda castle, from where the privileged space offers a formidable panoramic view of the surroundings.
The Castle (in a part of which the Parador de Turismo is today) was declared a cultural asset of national interest and is a powerful architectural testimony of the Andalusian city.
It has the only discovered Arab cemetery in all of Catalonia.
    Our grade: Good
