    Such an impressive video. Though funny how it ends on, "They are like wives, they are all different...". haha

    You are right, I like a more aggressive and faster horse than most, which I find easy to control.

    What's the idea of that "rising canter" style? I've seen other polo players adopt it, but I can't see what they're trying to achieve

    • @anotherblonde
      @anotherblonde 4 года назад +7

      It allows the rider to judge the speed and gait by matching the horses action, it keeps the weight off the back and kidneys, and is more comfortable than standard rising trot. Once you try it, you will find it more comfortable all the time.

      @@anotherblonde Thanks for the explanation.
      I can understand the point regarding speed and tempo, but the point regarding the back & kidneys: isn't that the same as the difference between sitting and riding trot?

    • @anotherblonde
      @anotherblonde 4 года назад +5

      @@56Seeker Polo ponies are mostly small light boned thoroughbred mares under 15.3hh, the riders are usually heavy full grown men, who weight more than 12st. It is the only sport that combines flat out galloping carry weight; the ponies are very expensive so all is done to preserve their backs and kidneys.

      Soy Hernán Casares, me pareció muy útil y claras sus explicaciones como sentarse, como colocar el cuerpo y las piernas para ayudar el balance, para que sean el jinete y el caballo un solo movimiento
      A su vez.me gusta que recuerde los consejos de su.padre gran jugador y mejor persona, al cual estimo. Abrazo a la familia

      @@anotherblonde I'm in the middle of learning polo and my instructor is having me ride by stabilizing myself on the saddle without the rising canter style. Just to clarify, it's fine to dig myslef into a saddle when riding other horses right? I guess that's how i was taught. The stirrups i have noticed for polo are way harder to use because my riding boot keeps on slipping, so would the rising canter style help? Also, do you know why they use the different metal stirrups instead. The polo saddle is harder to stay on as well. Any tips? thanks

    THis horse is shallow breathing. maybe take a break abnd re-start for him to breath deeply.

    Not a fan of this type of horse with long neck and low head, seems heavy on front legs and has a tendency to stumble at anytime. Then you go straight over the top!
