I was just there recently. New Yorker born and raised, but of Dominican extraction since mom and dad are from the DR. My dad being from the capital city of Santo Domingo. I was really impressed by Piantini which I had never visited beforehand even though I have been to Santo Domingo countless of times. I must say,Brickell (which is an upscale neighborhood in my adopted home town of Miami),has nothing on Piantini. Nice indeed!!!

Excellent video, you forgot to mention another very good place located between Piantini and Naco called Serralles, near Agora Mall.

I agree on the traffic. It’s atrocious. Folks here in Miami and back home in NYC 🗽 complain about it all the time, but Santo Domingo at rush hour is just insane. It needs to expand its public transportation system and relieve some of that pressure. Everyone would be better off for it.

Hey Kash I followed you since you started in DR. I’m Dominican. Thank you for trusting us. You have invested your money in DR. There are a lot of good opportunities in some real estate sectors, because the prices are still pretty good. That’s going to change as soon as the transportation projects are finished. The government is planning to connect the main cities through mega trains. Punta Cana to Santo Domingo to Santiago/Montecristy.

The difference between this and major US cities is that you don’t see homeless people camping on the sidewalks.

Santo domingo is the first city in the Americas. Keep that in mind. The very very first. As Piantini transitions into a gem before our eyes. There are still things that are changing and need time. Like many old cities in canada and the USA

absolutely no local flair, it looks like it is in Miami or downtown Chicago (only worse). Very unpleasant to walk through it, tall square buildings, built to keep people outside. Zero sense of community culture. Zero street life, nothing historic, resembles structures in the former Eastern Bloc. The parking on the basement reminded me of the typical American Embassy buildings which are designed to protect against riots. Very congested. One more post-colonial project, rich investors, a corrupt elite and insatiable tasteless customers from abroad who after having destroyed their own home communities, they are looking to take advantage . "The Acropolis Center"? It would be hilarious if it weren't so repulsive.

Thanks for watching and I truly appreciate the comment. It provides the perfect opportunity for us to showcase exactly the type of person that doesn't belong in this environment. The mindset is archaic and the views are contagious negative. I love Piantini. I love the Dominican Republic and the people. That being said - said Chicago is amazing as a city. Never viewed unground parking in such a dim light before lol. Definitely don't think the DR is for you right now. One day maybe. But right now the energy you would bring would be counterproduct over all. Not good for you - not good the people. I wish you the best however and hope you can learn to see the glass as half full verses half empty in coming years. Thanks for comment and appreciate the viewership :)

@@iLoveLasTerrenas good luck in your efforts. I appreciate that we all have to make a living in some way. I agree with you, cultivated and well-travelled people who have actually seen the real Acropolis and understand its meaning and wish to live in a meaningful community rather than a "project" don't belong there. All the best-
