As someone with multiple black belts, the beginner's mind is the forever mind. You can airways learn more, and maintaining that core philosophy allows you to teach and understand beginners without the barrier of time and experience. Plus, as mentioned, it helps retain the humility to admit and embrace mistakes. Heck I only learned voice acting because a player was nervous to do it alone and really wanted to try. Painting minis is a process of realizing mistakes (just like everything else in life)a critical part of the process
Very helpful 👍🏿 - especially agree with being open, using that “say yes” DM philosophy - If you’re taking topic requests, I’d love to hear about the house rules you like and/or use - I’m especially interested in lesser known ones or those unique to your table
Focus on the storyline, scene immersion and characters, the dice-rolls and mechanics are just guides. If they don't work to facilitate fun and enjoyment give them the boot and bring in ones that work for your campaign. Bring description to scenes, sound, smell and feel not just what it looks like.
