    This site is excellent! As a student nurse, these short video clips displaying demonstrations on various episodes of patient care has really helped me to understand better visually as opposed to being written down on paper

      I scored 907 today. Three trials on 2 different spirometers, and my lowest reading was 875. I guess I have at least one thing working just fine 😅

      @@marcosalamanca8742 I know I score really high as well even though I dont do any sports. Best I got that I remember was 750 on this plastic one and close to 800 on electronic. And Im only 23 and 178cm tall. Wonder how well I ll do once I get into jogging.

    Im finding your OSCE videos a real help as i prepare for mine. one question, we were always told that your patient should be standing to carry out this test as it allows the lungs to expand fully rather than diaphragmatic splinting that you get from sitting down?
    Thanks again

    why stand up or sit up straight is necessary

    • @ELFCloudGamer
      @ELFCloudGamer 6 лет назад +9

      you want to get as much air into your lungs as possible so you want to expand your thoracic space and this means being in a position where your abdominal organs are not pushing up on your diaphragm so less force is required for the diaphragm to contract (because it doesn't need to contact against the abdominal organs). Simply, try curling up and taking a deep breath in, then try sitting up straight and repeat, you'll see a difference.
