50TH ANNIVERSARY OF PINK FLOYD‘S ‘THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON’. OUT MARCH 24
Announcing the release of Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ as a deluxe box set to celebrate 50 years since the release of one of the best-selling albums of all time. Newly remastered, the box set will be released on 24th March 2023.
One of the most iconic and influential albums ever, Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ continues to find new audiences globally. The album was partly developed during live performances, and the band premiered an early version of the suite at London’s Rainbow Theatre several months before recording began. ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ is the eighth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in the US on 1 March and then in the UK on 16th March 1973. The new material was recorded in 1972 and 1973 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road studios) in London. The iconic sleeve, which depicts a prism spectrum, was designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and drawn by George Hardie. ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
The new deluxe box set includes CD and gatefold vinyl of the new 2023 remastered studio album and Blu-Ray + DVD audio featuring the original 5.1 mix and remastered stereo versions. The set also includes additional new Blu-ray disc of Atmos mix plus CD and LP of ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974’. For full details see listing below.

Annnnnd I'm 66 and don't even get that. *sigh* But that's okay. I was around for the original.
After 50 years, many people still love this album and others are still discovering it. In 150 years, it will be the same because bands like Pink Floyd are the classical music of the 20th century.
A musical masterpiece.
@@yvesbourbonniere2434 yep, up there with Sgt Peppers......
And Abbey Road.
No one before, no one after, so good, it’s hard to believe this much time has passed, try to enjoy as much as you can in this life, the Floyd are the ticket
Remember this like yesterday 🎉 time flies 🙏
Lyrics:
Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave, but don't leave me
Look around, choose your own ground
Long you live and high you fly
Smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, rabbit, run
Dig that hole, forget the sun
When, at last, the work is done
Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one
Long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
Balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave

Pink Floyd were my father's favorite band. He died 4 months ago (01/26/2023). I try not to think about it but when I think about him i come to RUclips and listen to them, even if it means to cry rivers.... I will never listen to them without a tear in my eye.
Thats beautiful I'm sorry for your loss

april 9th, but yeah
Imma putting it in my video.. (like a billion other people)🤣🤣 Cliche but who cares!
Richard Wright deserves dramatically more recognition for all the fantastic work he has done over the years. Amazing musician and an amazing performer. It is sad that he has become almost forgotten in between the back and forth between Roger Waters and David Gilmour.
You can't forget the master of percussion, Nick Mason.
I believe all four of them had PhD. equivalentcy in musical theory. They are very very smart and talented people. As long as mankind survives Pink Floyd will endure forever.
Wrights passing is the saddest part.
Met him once at an Eric Clapton concert in 2000 in Atlanta. Very nice decent guy. He was surprised that I recognized him.
It painfully true.
this is a song that touches the soul, it seems that my subconscious is listening to it, and relaxing

The soundtrack of my life. Used to get drunk / high and go Balboa Park Observatory in San Diego where they would have the Pink Floyd light show. It was the loneliest period of my life and yet, the most alive, all to the soundtrack of "Dark Side of the Moon".
This is the song my late nephew dedicated to his son when he was born. 26 years ago. ❤ foerever in our hearts.

When a song called Breathe is breath taking😅. But you are right of course. For me it always was a lovely island on DSOTM between the heavy stuff like time.
I see what you did there 😉 - I couldn’t agree more 👍
This is magic music. It will live forever. 1000 years from now people will still be listening to all the good music that we have been able to listen to.

Happy love, I'm going all the way back.
59 years today.
“Breathe” (1973) is about an older man speaking to a baby, telling him/her to breathe. He then describes the misfortunate working life awaiting the baby : “Run, rabbit, run / Dig that hole, forget the sun.”
The song implies that we need to overcome those negative messages and do whatever inspires us.
The whispers that can be heard throughout the LP “The Dark Side of the Moon” (1973) refer to Syd Barrett’s* madness.
Many listeners believe the album acts as a soundtrack to “The Wizard of Oz” (1939). When they are synchronized, the line, “Balanced on the biggest wave” plays when Dorothy nearly loses her balance while walking along a fence. LIKELY A MATTER OF COINCIDENCE❕ 💞🎶💞
* Robert Keith “Syd” Barrett (1946 - 2006) was a co-founder of Pink Floyd in 1965. Through late 1967 and early 1968, he became increasingly erratic, partly as a consequence of his heavy use of psychedelic drugs. Although the changes began gradually, he went missing for a long weekend and came back “a completely different person,” according to several friends of his.
Broke: DSotM and Wizard of Oz
Woke: DSotM and Paul Blart Mall Cop

Wahoo mon adolescence ma jeunesse et j'aime toujours autant maintenant bien des années plus tard. C'est une chanson que j'adore comme toutes. Le seul groupe que j'aime toujours autant.
This is one of those albums that I can sing every word to, start to finish. Not song, the whole album. My buddy Zac and I lived in a rural area and when we started going to the closest community College to us, it was still over an hour drive together there and we rode together in his car. I already knew some Pink Floyd, but DSOTM was his introduction to it and let's just say that he and I were very much in agreement on that album being pretty much the only one we listened to for about sic straight months. That's how we were about music back then. We didn't go buy an album for 1 or 2 hit songs...we'd find an album that we could listen to, start to finish and then that was what we listened to until something else came along. I think we stopped listening to DSOTM when discovered some good live Phish albums.
first 3 seconds and i already have goosebumps
The albums "Meddle", "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish you were here" marked the musical and creative rubicon of Pink Floyd's creative output - their "classic phase". This is when their unique progressive sound emerged, combining psychedelic rock with elements of soul, jazz and electronic music. Of these three albums, Dark Side of the Moon was undoubtedly the strongest.
You almost get the feeling that "Breathe" could be a trip-hop song from the early 90s, even though it was written 20 years before the works of Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky. Very progressive!
COMO LES AGRADESCO QUE ME HAYAN ENVIADO A MI HERMOSO Y AMADO. PINK FLOYD...MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS❤😎😎😎😎❤❤
This is Always been sooooo smooth sounding & Musically it just takes you to another zone in life like your in a daydream so calm and cool it's one of my favorites Besides ,

Siento que ésta canción me teletransporta años atrás a las calles de un día soleado de los años 70's.
Me encanta éste álbum, es buenísimo.
The light reflecting off the record in the graphic would remain static. The record would be revolving, but not the reflection....I must have heard DSOTM a million times over the years, and still listening to it
