THANK YOU!! Finally a video that shows me how I can remove these without using a dremel! Although I don't really see a need to use the same style clamp and buying the whole kit when a snail clamp will do just fine for a few cents. But hey they do clamp good.

huh?? why would you cut these? just use a flat head screwdriver or pick to pull the flap off of the tabs...

I've never actually gotten that to work well; ended up sliding off and stabbing things with the screwdriver and/or pick too. Side cutters are way easier & getting the kit to replace...

@@jeffbriesemeister2284 Ya I guess everyone works differently too. If cutting works well for you then this is good.

I've done it this way for the last 10 years with my car, still have the same original clamps on it to this day.

Thanks for the video. I have two of the clamps I need to replace and your video was very informative. I don’t know why people put comments about using alternative clamps when your video was specifically for Oetiker Clamps. Why did they bother watching if they chose to use an alternative hose clamp? 🤷‍♂️

to remove this clamp you can just undo it from the end of strip by screwdriver or whatever tool

Why not replace those clamps with something like Norma hose clamps of suitable sizes? Hoses are service items with finite lifespans.

I agree, I’d probably go with some decent t bolt hose clamps but he likes to keep things oem if possible so my guess would be that’s why

I like to keep the originality of the vehicle. And the clamp set wasn't very expensive.

      Because they look like s#it
You can cut slice your hand open if you working close to them regular clamps

Engine bays can have temperature swings either way causing clamps to tighten or loosen as conditions change. With Oetiker type clamps it's not an issue as they tighten or loosen by design as temperature conditions change. A screw type doesn't - it's only good for the conditions you tightened it for. So, if you put it on when engine is hot it can contract and leak when the engine cools - and vis versa.

@@tdunster2011 never had a hose clamps undo on me. Been in hot conditions on the track and conditions on where it takes awhile to start up, due to ethanol. Engineers utilizes worm style clamps on a lot of vehicles, for example Subaru.

How about using a wiss 'snip' cutter tool? Looks like there'd be plenty of leverage.

My 1992 bmw E36 318i power steering got this special hose clamp and i dont have the special tool to remove it i am going to put a normal hose clamp that you can tight with a screw driver its much better and easier to remove the hose clamp i dont like to struggle with special hose clamps

I am genuinely baffled as to why bmw chose to use this clamp for the fuel line outside of the fuel pump in 2001.

Also Chinese ear clamps are garbage. Get Oetiker unless you want them to fall off.
