bruh i’m sorry but the original 3Ds is my favorite i even bought it again while i could buy any other handheld. The design is just beautiful the nostalgia is amazing and the glossy design is so pretty. I love how compact it is and the sharp shapes.
Same, I had one when I was 9 ( my dog ended up eating it and trying to decided whether to repair it or get a new Nintendo 3DS XL) and I absolutely LOVED playing pokemon X, and pokemon omega ruby, and pokemon alpha sapphire ( I like meh pokemans 😐 )

I agree! I originally had a Cosmo Black 3DS, then one day it broke. So I bought a red 2DS, had that for awhile. Later I bought another 3DS, the Midnight Purple model. I know there is plenty of cool limited edition designs for the XL. But for me it's just too large. I did like the 2DS form factor, being more like the Gameboys. I hate the name choice of New Nintendo 3DS. Why couldn't it be called the Super 3DS? I know the N3DS has a bunch of upgrades but again, the only models available in my area were the huge XLs. Plus it always just felt too expensive to being out in public or fear of dropping one. Maybe one day I'll try for a New 2DS.

Personally I love the old 3DS design and its colors. It's the closest to my favorite ever DS model, the DS lite. But you gotta put down a cloth to prevent the touch screen frame from scratching the top screen... that's the only big drawback, I think. I like the stylus placement more than on the side because over time it can start to fall out the side, similar to how it would happen on the DS-lite.
New 3DS is great too and also similar to DS lite design (more similar in some ways actually), but I don't like the limited colors available compared to the old 3DS. Using an aqua blue old to this day full of emulators and custom firmware. Shoutouts to all of the people that make this possible and so easy to do.

Don’t forget, if or whenever it becomes obsolete you could always get a R4 card on it whenever DS games stop being sold on the virtual console.
(The virtual console games are still being sold on the Wii U but it’s region locked)

because he misses the big points. The screen size is bigger on 3ds xp but the resolution is the same which means you playing on less dpi with the xl. that was one example of many different tech specs he missed

I bought a New 3ds XL around a month ago because of the accessories.
I got a skin, clear case, and a keychain.
Whenever I get a new handheld, i obsessed with customizing it to make it more personal.
Glasses-free 3D was one of the coolest things when it first came out, pity it didn't really catch on.
I've got a 3DS XL and a New 3DS.
To me personally, overall, the new 3DS feels the best and to me is generally better, I've not played any games needing the C-Stick, so that's completely arbitrary, bit The 3D is better. The smaller build fits better into my hands. I wouldn't buy the xl if you're a child or have small hands

Just bought a used "new" 3Ds from Japan! Can't wait for it to be imported! It appears that the "new" 3Ds(non-XL) wasn't really sold in the US except for special editions, and the portability of a DS is what makes it cool to me, so I decided to import.

Yeah I completely replaced the firmware with US firmware and undid the region lock so I can play games from any region now. I’ve actually played through the ORAS demo twice now to get a legit version of both the Japanese mega Steelix and the regular worldwide mega Glalie!
I have an original black 3ds just exactly the same as in your video, I bought it when only the first two models were available.
I remember that when the new 3ds was released, I was so excited because of the customizable shells, I even wanted to shell my old 3ds to get the newer one, but later I was dissappointed when I found out that Nintendo decided to market the customizable model only in Japan and Europe, while in America they only marketed the new 3ds xl model without the customizable shell, so the only way to get a normal new 3ds was importing it from Europe/Japan, but here in latin America importing is very expensive and the console would be region locked, so I decided to stick with my original 3ds, which I still have to this day, maybe now that the switch rules the market I could buy a new 3ds with the customizable shell at a cheaper price

I have a problem. I have a dsixl that has a lot of problems because he's so old. I still want to play my games once in a while without having to worry about freezing or problems charging. I've been thinking of getting a new3dsxl to replace my dsixl. If I get it, i'll just try a few games like New Leaf and SM3DL, while still playing my DS games. My problem is: I have a switch lite and I play it A LOT (ACNH, BOTW, SSBU). I don't know if a 3ds would be worth getting if it's not worth the time compared to the switch. I'd really like to buy one, i just want to make sure that i'm not gonna blow $150+ on something i won't use.

I suggest that you get a 2DS, for cheap and good gameplay. Since you already have a switch, it may be good to save some money, so i think 2ds is the perfect for you. Modern and cheap
I think it would be. The biggest advantage of the 3DS compared to the Switch is how it's much smaller and more durable.
I think the 2DS wouldn't really be a big advantage since it's just as large as a Switch. They say it's more durable but the original 3DS already will stand up to any reasonable abuse you will likely inflict on it.

My favorite is the original 3DS and 2DS. I had the midnight purple orig 3DS and the same teal and white 2DS as in the video. Loved how my original 2DS looked like a slice of toast 😂😂

I pre-ordered a New 2DS XL with my sister years ago and we picked ours up from the closest GameStop. I had a 3DS XL, but the screen was damaged, so it was the perfect opportunity to get an affordable replacement. I love the design and how well it works. My only possible complaint is the stylus, but I don’t need to use if very often, and if I feel like a need a longer one, I can either just use my fingers or another stylus.
The old 2DS may be super cheap, but the uncovered screens and buttons make it really easy to get them dirty or damaged, especially for someone with a tendency to drop things like me. Add into the mix the little kid who’s getting it, it’ll probably get really dirty and maybe scratched or dented within the first few months of use.
You would never find a single toddler who cares about dirt or dents lol 😂😂😂😂.
@@Bleepro I would pray you're not giving a console of any sort to a 3-year-old. I got my first console of my own, a DSi, when I was about 6 and I definitely cared if it got damaged or dirty (and this thing was pure white). Probably because I was not raised to be a brat that didn't care about breaking expensive things. Though I don't use it anymore, of course, to this day it's hardly damaged and still perfectly functional, complete with its original stylus that somehow hasn't gone missing yet.
Does it bother anybody else that some of the outer designs on 3DS special edition systems are upside down when you open the system? I settled on the regular black N3DSXL for this reason, it just... gets in my nerves for some reason... Like, imagine if laptops had their logo upside down when you opened them. It’s weird...

Oh man, my first in the 3DS family I owned was the OG 2DS, it was legit the best entry point for me specifically because of the value. Then I got a New 3DS XL a few years later.
Sadly I ended up having to sell them for reasons, but I recently bought a New 2DS XL and I now refuse to sell it ever again, and I'm slowly rebuilding the old library I had.
I sold my Gameboy color with pokemon games and a ps2 at a garage sale in 2013 and I regret it all the time. I promised myself I would never sell any game console ever again.

I just watched the same video twice and it was completely worth it.
These have basically convinced me to get a New 3DS XL, since I'm limiting myself to the new market and Nintendo still makes them, albeit refurbished.
I still have some consideration to do, but that's the one I'm aiming for. That or a 2DS. Not a New 2DS XL. Never.

@@dylanhimselfprod8256 Yes! Go to their online store, which is store DOT nintendo DOT com, and look under the 3DS tab at the top, and go to systems, and there they are! They still offer the original 2DS, the New 3DS XL, and the New 2DS XL. Sadly, not the plain New 3DS. I can't speak as to whether they're in stores, though, and I am in the U.S.A., so if you're in another market, I don't know whether they'll have them.

Great vid! I bought a 2DSXL at the start of cOviD. I’ve enjoyed it a lot. Today I found a smoking deal on a New 3DS XL in mint condition and it definitely FEELS superior in every way. Comfier to hold and the clamshell hinge isn’t a flip floppy mess, and overall it feels sturdier and heavier. For my kids I opted for a 2DS, which is more than enough for them. Great video!

I own 2 N3DSXLs, 2 2DSs, and 2 N2DSXLs. I keep a "daily driver" of each model and a backup, new in box, in the closet. That way I can beat the heck out of em, not feel bad, and know that while everyone else is on the latest Nintendo console of the future, I can still slog my way through the backlog of DS and 3DS titles I've been wanting to play (and will probably be playing through for several years)
And I agree, the cheapest and ugliest of the consoles, the 2DS, is the most comfortable to hold. So it gets the most playtime with me. Although I did just order a grip for the N2DSXL in hopes that improves things. The fps drop on the high end games is somewhat noticeable on the slowest of the handhelds.
The whole COVID thing, combined with the run on Switches, has increased the demand for the 3DS. Consequently the prices are on the rise. If you don't own one by now, you're probably relegated to the Japanese "LL" model or the Black Pokemon edition from Saudi Arabia/Malaysia markets. It's the "world edition" so it still works in the US with US format games and software. At the time of this comment it is about $225-250 online. A plain black US N3DSXL goes $300 easily in new condition right now. N2DSXLs go for $99-150.
TL;DR, given current demand... Maybe a Switch light is a wiser purchase.

I own 3ds xl that broke 2 years ago, and for nostalgia I wanted to play my old games. Sadly since my portable console is broken and it does not register my games anymore I had to find a solution. I tried to clean it and to somehow repair it and I must say it worked for a few days. Then it ended up breaking even more and almost nothing is useable now, I can barely turn it on. The thing is I really don’t want to throw away my old games. But the sad part is that a *used* 3ds xl on amazon costs 230€. That’s almost DOUBLE the amount I payed it on the day one!!! And it’s not even new!!! What should I do?
You could try looking for a used one on ebay. I've seen bids go from 115-150 USD for decent condition. You can also swap the motherboards if you want to keep any info on the old one (I think theres a way to transfer aswell but idk)

I bought my New 3ds XL (Solgaleo and Lunala Edition) used for 125€ a couple of years ago. I really love it.
I just bought one to play tomodachi life. I wanted the original in purple because that's what I wanted when I was a kid. (Ended up with aqua blue because purple wasn't in stock.) I bought a *new* 3ds because it's better and about the same price as a decent condition original.

The dsi is a good option if you want to go cheap cheap. You can get one in almost perfect condition for 50$ on ebay. And, since it has almost all the features that the new 3ds' have (despite the 3d, of course) it's actually a pretty good deal.

I think you should totally buy a 3ds in 2020/2021, it has some great games, it’s backwards compatible with ds games, it has a 3D slider, it’s totally worth buying, I still have one, and I still play it a lot

Honestly I love the new 3DS and 2DS XL. Overall I think the new 2DS XL has the best form. Looks so good.
I definitely agree if you're trying to get the c stick and new 3ds games but if you arent I would go for the old 2ds. If you are going for the new 3ds games I recommend the new 3ds as it's nice and portable
I found the OG 3DS to be the most durable, i mean it’s survived 10 years with me. I will admit the newer ones are obviously better in terms of power but I’ll always appreciate the first.

A funnynthing was that for almost a year in USA the New 3DS XL was available without the non XL version being around.
I have an Original 3DS XL and was looking into maybe getting the New model. For me personally there seems to be more downsides then ups. Weird Cartridge placement, weird stylus placement, colored buttons look weird on the console no matter the color. Is the C-Stick, Facetracking 3DS and better speeds really worth it?

If you mean the new 3ds that isn't the xl, I recommend getting one soon. I got one on eBay for a relatively good price but the prices are getting higher by the minute.

Unpopular opinion: I love the 3D. I actually have a classic, xl, and new model all in black. I use them time to time to just revisit older firmware lol.

I bought myself a orange black New 3DS XL from a toy shop here in germany that sold out their remains of older stuff in store
It wasn't as cheap as a used handheld but it came brand new with guarantee for 3 years, original box and stuff
I wrapped it with a nice Zelda Design decal so it looks kind of special for me gave me a great pleasure
With the money for it I'd go for a Majoras Mask 3DS Model and hope it has at least one IPS screen built in

I bought a brand new black "New 3DS XL" 2 days ago for $ 250 and do not regret the money spent. Earlier, around 2010, I had a blue DSi XL console and I loved it very much, I played Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions and Hot Wheels: Track Attack for a day. But around 2014 it was stolen from me, which made me very upset, so by this time, in order to feel nostalgia, I purchased New 3DS XL.
If you're getting one of these things on the secondary market today, you definitely want to go with a "new" and "xl" model, either new 2ds xl for cheaper or new 3ds xl for 3d. There's just more you can do with them, especially with custom firmware. Regular new 3ds is also ok, but hand-crampingly and eye-strainingly small makes it less than ideal. The only reason to consider a non-new model is if you're getting one for a young child, in which case the original 2ds's hingeless design is preferred as it's much more durable.
but its also really expensive, i mean a new 3ds xl is like £170 used whereas the original 3ds i can find for £80 refurbished
Tip:if you are gonna buy one make sure to get homebrew and mod it its 100 times better when its modded
I bought a 2ds recently because i found it very cheap (30€ barely used and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire installed on it) and i didn't have a 3ds and wanted to try out all the great games

A big thing of the 3DS though is how durable it is. I went through 4 DS lite's but I'm still using the 1 3DS I bought back in 2013. Especially with the Switch being very fragile. Mine already has quite a few scratches and even a few cracks in it. The 3Ds is still as glossy and perfectly functional as when I bought it despite surviving just as many falls and abuse. It's also much more compact than the Switch. It's small enough that I can put it into my jeans pocket which I can't do with the switch. With the Switch I need to wear a jacket and I usually have to take the Joycons off as well to get it to fit easily. Also with how delicate the Switch is I am often nervous about taking it to places where it could get damaged. The 3DS had no such issue.
I do not think a Switch lite would be a good idea since I can't take the joycons off. While it is narrower than a standard switch it's still considerably wider than one with the joycons off.
