I thought the comment that your low register was 'always tentatively touched on' was a bit nitpicky. You certainly used chest beautifully on 'presta e la mia difesa.' and in other places as well. Maybe a couple of slightly breathy low notes in the very beginning of the aria, but who sings 100% perfectly every note, every time, in a live performance, however she happens to be feeling? Is it written in stone when you have to transition into chest, especially with a voice as unusually rich and strong throughout as yours is? I am sincere in saying to correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that your decision? Just my opinion. But the point is this is really fantastic, you sang this absolutely beautifully, your voice is gorgeous and enviable and I really wish you great success in your career. Hope to hear more of you!

She was controversial to say the least bit I loved her and stayed in touch with her until her death at 91 in 2010. I miss and think of her often. This is absolutely gorgeous. However, to be a true great in Verdi (and I would argue in any music really) there needs to be true commitment in the chest voice - Verdi wrote those notes below the stave for a reason, and the expectation was a thrusting chest voice. It's absolutely thrilling when the voice is solid in every register. I feel like it's always tentatively touched upon here and it's obvious there is far more to give in your voice in this regard. Chest voice is the foundation of a great middle voice - think of Fleming or Callas. Even early career Te Kanawa shows she had an ultra solid chest voice which she was simply too scared to use in her later career. And Schwarzkopf too it's obvious - her chest voice was not attractive particularly, at least not compared to Fleming or Callas, but it was well developed and she always used it down there. Yours is one of my absolutely favourite young voices out there, but I just think this is one obvious way of improving things even further artistically!
I must say I agree with you! Not to get defensive, but it was my absolute debut performance of the aria and my ability to access the requisite strength in the lower part of my voice improved significantly over the course of the run. Also I was doing a low-carb diet at the time and had simply not eaten enough to support my singing! Live and learn. I do consider it worthy of publication even if it is imperfect because how interesting to track progress. Hopefully when I return to the role I will be better with every visit!

I fully understand, and it certainly was worth posting - as I said before it is gorgeous. I do hope you continue to post more recordings, and I realise that it is incredibly easy to sit on this side of the keyboard and judge (I'm an opera director, and absolutely love working with singers!). I saw on an interview that you had committed to a health journey, which is also very admirable, and you are looking very fit and healthy! I hope that the Rusalkas go well - I will I could see them! Almost my favourite part of that role is the act two aria/scene with her father - those heartbreaking lamenting phrases that rise up and up (Fleming is incredible of course here) going into that wildly desperate, fast section, after Vrodnik responds. And then the finale to act 3... my god. When you listen to Dvorak's other operas, you realise what a moment of divine inspiration he was having while composing this opera. Like Tchaikovsky with Onegin... Have you ever considered Daphne by Strauss? It's high, but ideally needs a fuller voice than the coloraturas who often tackle it. I have posted live clips of Fleming doing it which are much better than her commercially released recording. I hope Arabella and Capriccio are also in your future, but those are much more obvious roles.
Here is Michelle Bradley singing "D'amor sull'ali rosee" plus the Miserere in a recital in Houston some years ago. She is fabulous. ruclips.net/video/1FQAUN9DJNc/видео.html I attended the Sunday matinee of San Diego Opera's production of Aïda on October 27, 2019. Michelle Bradley sang the title role. Her voice had a lidded quality when she sang mezzo forte or louder in the top half of her voice. She has some nice high piani. I found her sound remarkably like Leontyne Price's. It's a fabulous instrument. Her chest voice was full and rich. In fact, it was stronger and more resonant than the mezzo's chest voice. The mezzo who sang Amneris was Olesya Petrova.
