There are some flaws in the description of the sysem shown here
1) It actually looks like stackable flow through vermicompost bin, and the principle is that after one bin is full, if we stop feeding in that bin and use the bin above for keeping food, the worms will migrate to the upper bin and after few days, the lower bin can be harvested.
2) The bins are shallow and wide and are meant for vermicomposting only and are not suitable for regular kitchen composting as described.
3) A properly done vermicompost should not produce any leachate. The fact that leachate is coming our shows that the bin is too wet and this is unvafourable to the worms.
4) It is described that the leachate is a fertiliser which is not true. it certainly is not safe to spray the leachate on the plants.
5) The worms shown appear to be red wrigglers and they are already adults and usually do not grow large. The youtuber says that these worms will grow to large size after sometime!! Anybody doing vbermicompost using red wrigglers will know this.
6) In the initial part of the video, he was showing the vegetable scraps being spread which is not advisable. Also, it is always better to bury the food
7) Most of the contents shown in the bin is nothing but cocopeat... which is costly source of carbon. Unlike kitchen composting, vermicomposting is cold composting and requires lot of carbon, and the chepaest and best using shredded cardboard which is freely available......even people doing regular vermicomposting in other countries do this.
8) It takes about two months for the proper vermicasts to be harvested.
And wish to share that vermicomposting is not rocket science and can be done at home. But there is a learning curve, and atleast I have encountered good number of failures. The most difficult part is to maintain the temperature and adequate moisture. Even slightest change in the ambience leads to worms trying to escape from the bin.

there is one flaw in the design that it is not suitable for outdoors where it rains. The lip will provide a path for water to enter where they are stacked on each other. If the lip had been like the lid then the water would have flow away instead of inside. Other than that the bin seems good. Might give it a try in future if I am consistent with my current composting
