I found this video very helpful, thank you. I am in the process of choosing A levels and I was wondering if there were any specific subjects that are needed for dentistry - I definitely want to take chemistry and maths, but I'm not sure if you have to take biology for the top dental schools out there. If I didn't have to take biology then I would probably take physics and further maths. Thanks again

Definitely take biology, first year dentistry is heavy biology 👍

Why did you choose to do both dentistry and medicine? I’ve been looking into medicine recently and I have a massive interest in anaesthetics so I would love to pursue this but dentistry is something I’m so passionate about I’m really not sure what to pick. 😭

Can you please tell us how you became a doctor and dentist??

Better just been entreprenuer dentist. Have big practice and employ other dentists. Then you become more a passive private equity type of investor. Work 20 hrs a week over seeing all and collect £200k plus. So true about different medical types - relative was always in bodybuilding and rugby - he is an orthopedic surgeon and uses the word 'bro'.

    Thank you for the video,
So would you say as a junior doctor, you are doing more work for the less money ?

Hi DR ASHLEY HILTON. I verified that you are a registered MD with GMC UK. On the other hand, GDC UK does NOT register you as a dentist. May I ask the reason why you are not registered with the GDC UK?

Wow. Very thorough of you. Love it! Yes I graduated dentistry from KCL back in 2019. Bear in mind this is an old video. But I undertook the dental degree with a view to go into MaxFax, and don't practice Dentistry now 😊

@@FutureDoc Thanks for replying. I have a friend who has to make this decision by end of the month. Your video is informative and balanced so I’ll be sending them the link to your video. But I better check the source before that so that’s why I asked.

Hi @future doc , I’m graduating in 2weeks and still can’t decide between dentistry and medicine. I don’t mind doing both . In my situation , if I get accepted to either one I’ll just do my bachelors in the country I’m in (Middle East ) then specialise in Europe . Imma be honest , even though I really like the aspect of both ‘jobs ‘ , I would like to choose the job that makes me more money with less effort of working . What do you think I should choose ?

Hi! Thank you for reaching out. I know it can be hard to choose!
Ultimately you should do what makes you feel fulfilled! But if you want to prioritise money and control over your schedule, dentistry is probably the way to go. You make more money early in your career and it's usually a 9-5 job, as opposed to the long shifts you can expect from a job in medicine.

They are doctor too yes. But they aren’t quite oral surgeons. That’s a title in itself with an entire training pathway
