    Welp.... if you start a video series of Melanie's road to mixing mastery, I am sticking around cause I might catch a couple of tips haha.

    You had good musicians to work with. One of the things that drives me nuts during sound checks is when you tell a guy "okay just play and let me adjust things" and then they play like for 5 seconds and stop. You say "just keep playing", so they play for 10 more seconds and stop and say shit like "yeah so and so is a little to high" or "this and that should be this way" and I'm like - "yeah, keep playing I'm working on this", so they give you 5 more seconds and go back to telling you what to do. I am like "MY GUY! Just. Keep. Playing."
    Great stuff, I enjoy your videos a lot.

    Would love to get some raw tracks from you to practice mixing at home. A lot of the bands you get are pretty freakin' awesome! Was a little painful watching her on the mixer, but with you as her sensei she'll be flying on it in no time. :)

      Need a bands permission first before I give out raw tracks.

    This would be a dream job. Have any tips on how i could get my foot in the door?

      Offer to intern and leave your ego at the door.

    • @oaks5777
      @oaks5777 6 месяцев назад +1

      How do you sell yourself when trying to intern for something like this?

    • @chrishammillaudio
      @chrishammillaudio  6 месяцев назад +2

      First and foremost, do you have any audio experience? Do you know what an EQ is? Compressor? Delay and reverb? Do you know “pain” frequencies and have you practiced ear training? Make sure you answer “yes” to all of those, then get yourself some multitracks to practice mixing on to get familiar with actually mixing. Plenty of classes online to get free multitrack sessions to practice on.
      ONCE ALL OF THAT IS DONE, offer to run cable, assist, intern at a local venue and eventually get familiar with the board. If a venue is offering employment for stagehands, get yourself a gig doing that.

      Locally you prolly have a Sound Company, that Rent out Systems etc etc, They prolly have Sound engineers they also "Rent" out to venues as well. See if you can get hired with them they prolly have some type of sound school every week where everyone is learning etc etc and build your way up in the scene and community. Visit some Venues locally if you have some, ask the engineer there if he/she is just the house engineer or if they work for a company as well.

      lol I actually thought the female vocals were really good actually. You could hear the potential with all of them. I like the gritty female vocals.
