I don't care what other people say, I think she's got an absolutely gorgeous voice
I first heard Sarah singing outside a record shop in 1998. The owner of the store was playing the CD outside the shop on a loud speaker. I went in and asked who was singing. He told me Sarah Brightman. I left with 3 of her CDs.

It's funny because the first time I heard her singing it, it was a former performance and I think she nailed some part (the highest: "Soar" for example) better than this one. Though, in overall, in this specific performance I prefer the way she sings the medium and lowest parts.

LivingMindfully1975 I read somewhere that A.L.W wrote the melody thinking of Sarah singing it and that was before he started working on PoTO. If I remember correctly.
Jackie has a deeper voice then Sarah and it is wonderful, but I prefer the crystal clear higher pitch, timbre and vibrato of Sarah’s voice.

I have heard so many renditions of this amazing song, mostly male, considering its Phantom's song and not many come close to or are as spectacular and do as much justice to Michael Crawford's rendition than the Sarah Brightman.. The key difference, and the key part of what makes their versions stand out from all the rest is not just the power of their voices but their ability to 'paint'/'colour' in the song with the words to give it true meaning, feeling and emotion.. thank you for sharing this!!!
