We're here! The first real, non-trailer video on my new journaling channel. I hope you like it! This is one of my favorite journals and while it's seen many iterations over the years, I love where it is now.
This leather journal cover was recently retired by Chic Sparrow, but here is a link to their current leathers in the same design (Cascade TN, Narrow size): chicsparrow.com/collections/travelers-notebooks/design_cascade
Your handwriting is beautiful! I was always complimented on my handwriting, and I even used to do actual calligraphy for a while. I did baptism certificates for my church, wedding invitations, that type of thing. But I haven't done it in years. And now even my regular handwriting has turned to crap because I rarely have the need to write anymore. Even when I was working in an office, I could go the whole day and not need to write anything because everything was via email / voicemail.
I enjoy watching people's creativity because I have none of my own! I wish I could do this sort of thing but honestly... I never go anywhere or do anything. Unfortunately, that has been my life situation for some years now, dealing with working barely part time and with an ongoing family health situation. I'm home all day, every day. Nothing interesting to say. So I'll live through others who have more interesting lives and can document their adventures. It's really great to have a record like that, and maybe pass it on to children or younger family members through the years.
I have been journaling on and off since i was in elementary it was more like dear diary when i first started when i was younger i love how journalling have evolve through out the years and the product that is available now is so good and more choices ive recently got a travelers notebook and ive been loving journaling with it.thanks for the video i love that you actually show writing on your journal instead of empty layouts thanks
Ahh yes! I recently found some of my diaries from when I was a kid and it's so interesting to see how my style has developed. Happy to keep sharing the writing too as long as people don't get invasive about reading it/commenting to me about it! I don't share very private writing, but sometimes it still feels a little weird.
I started journaling at the beginning of the pandemic and have found it very therapeutic. The time was going by in a blur of anxiety and boredom and journaling forced me to stay present. It saved me.
Wow, thank you for sharing that! I definitely know that feeling. While I was journaling for a long time before, that definitely kickstarted me into my current multiple journals at once phase. I needed a place where I could vent about things that upset me but I wanted to keep that separate from documenting good things that happened, and then sometimes nothing was happening and I just wanted to collage with random supplies that didn’t document anything in particular. And here I am!
Sooooo excited about the new channel! All these things just look like they *feel* so nice. I've never had a traveler's notebook, so it'll be nice to learn more about them here.
Ahh yes, I love having different places for each! You could totally add a second journal into one of these covers for that (the chic sparrow ones can fit more than four if you piggyback with extra elastics). Personally, I like to brain dump in a smaller journal so I fill up lots of pages quickly so mine is in a separate book (A6 size at the moment!).
Would you be interested to make a video on how you do your script writing, I was so mesmerized by the neat script writing in your journal entries! love it!
Ooh, that’s something I could do! Through journaling more often these last few years, I’ve been getting a lot of practice with my handwriting. I’m thinking it could be a video where I write out each letter in the alphabet, uppercase and lowercase, script and print - would any other particular things be useful to you?
Oooh the Citywest Key card - that brings back memories of LeakyCon :3 I love these kinds of notebooks and have been keeping mine in the same style for the past years. Much less artsy I have to admit just because I rarely have time to actually sit down and indulge in journaling but I am still happy every time I look back at my journals :)
Your travelers notebook videos were what inspired me to start putting little tickets or mementos in my bullet journal! There hasn’t been much of that the past couple years, but it’s helped me get more creative in my journal.
Aww, I love that! These past few years, I’ve had to find new ways to document my life since I haven’t had things like ticket stubs to paste in and I’ve been really happy with where I’ve landed.
Thank you for sharing this, I like your idea about the important event book. So sweet you showed your father so he can peek into what you have been doing. Wonder if you can put Pandora charms on the elastic of your notebook?
Ooh, I bet you could use a charm like that on a traveler’s notebook that has an elastic that comes off when you untie the knot (some have a metal brad that’s difficult to remove). You could just untie the elastic, pull it out, slide the charm on, and put it back.
That’s so cool! Do you draw out moments instead of/alongside using photos? I always think I want to do something like that with drawing but I get intimidated and it doesn’t usually last very long.
Neat! I've thought before of making a scrapbook of trips and special events, maybe I'll get around to it at some point. For now, I just document things the old-fashioned way: by writing them in a blank book. Sometimes with more detail, sometimes with less. Sometimes more poetically, sometimes less so. It depends on my mood and-let's be honest- on how much time I have!
I love that! Sometimes, that’s what I’m in the mood for as well - I sit down with all of these supplies and photos much less often and it’s easier to get behind, but I do flip back through this one more than the others.
Just now found you because of your other channel when you had super short hair... ...but I'm soooo interested in the TN concept. I have 0 supplies at the moment, well if you don't count my Bujo book that I could probably fit in a TN ackwardly-- but the idea of having multiple notebooks for multiple topics in one book-- Brilliant! How is it that I've just now found it. I'm so behind :) Thanks for your new channel- I may have to bing watch ❤
Yes!! The multiple notebooks thing pulled me in too (along with how pretty and portable they are) but one thing I learned once I started using them is that you can change it up all the time whenever you feel like you need something new! As someone who rarely finishes a notebook without starting a new one first, being able to change the order or the cover makes it feel new again and helps so much with motivation!
Lauren, I love this channel so much already! I can't wait for more videos and hopefully catch a deeper look in how you journal! I wanna get back into journaling, I have so much to document in the last few years but it's been difficult to keep up. You're one of my favorite content creators so I'm glad your starting this channel! :)
Aw, thank you so much! I’ve definitely got some straight-up journaling process videos on the way along with product recommendations and unboxings and tutorials! So excited to get to share them with all of you.
I love your paste ins!! I am always so nervous about using my stamps and getting ink everywhere. I think I will set aside some time this weekend to make my own paste ins. The standard size is so wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
It was definitely a game changer when I started doing that! Less pressure and less mess for sure. I also started practicing stamps in a messier notebook I’m less worried about looking good, but they still don’t always turn out as expected! Thanks for leaving such a nice comment!
I haven't been using my TNs lately because I've been in a bound book for journaling, and this vid made me want to pull out my standard TN and get to journaling!
My favorite journal right now is actually a bound book and I have it in a Chic Sparrow folio instead of a TN! Gives a similar feel to the TN but it lays flat and has more pages, and I can even fit two notebooks in it if I tuck one notebook’s cover in the front and the other’s in the back. So glad you’re excited for this channel! I’m excited too. Thanks so much for commenting!
On my main channel, I would spent over an hour compiling 20-30 product links for every video and putting them in the description and people would still ask me for specific ones in the comments. 😂 If you see something you’re curious about, feel free to comment asking about it and I’ll try to help you find it if it’s still available somewhere!
@@jessyherrera9922 Chic Sparrow's Jaffe leather is recently retired so they don't sell it on their website anymore (another reason why I can't collect links to everything) but you can find other leathers in the same design here: chicsparrow.com/collections/travelers-notebooks/design_cascade There are also a few Chic Sparrow Buy Sell Trade groups on facebook where you can buy retired leathers from individuals who want to sell theirs!

Hi! I just found your channel and I'm loving the format and the way you talk and film. I just wanted to ask what the cards with washi tape were for? Like do you just have a small amount of them wrapped around the card and then use as needed? Thanks so much! Love your channel so far.
Yes! When I’m home, I use the washi tape on their rolls, but washi tape rolls take up a good amount of space in your bag if you’re traveling. So when I’m taking my journal on a trip, wrapping a few of my favorites around some old hotel key cards allows me to bring a selection of different tapes without the bulk.

@@JournalSunshine oh man! I really want to get into journaling but like I don't do too much. what would be a good suggestion to try and write every day?
I journal a lot now, but one of my favorite things are the 3 or 5 year journals! Each page is split into small sections so you just write a little about each day on the designated page. I keep mine in my bedroom and write in it before I go to sleep. The best part comes when you get to the second year - you start back at the beginning and write on the same page as that day the year before so you can read what you were doing that day in previous years! So cool and it’s only a challenge if you fall more than a week behind. I have the hobonichi one which comes out in the fall, but midori makes a bunch of options that are available here: www.jetpens.com/Midori-Multi-Year-Diaries/ct/4696 Looks like Leuchtturm has them too! www.jetpens.com/Leuchtturm1917-Some-Lines-a-Day-5-Year-Journals/ct/6762
how long have you had the Canon Ivy printer? has it been working well? I've been thinking about getting one myself but I'm not sure if it's one of those gadgets that'll stop working after a few months
I’ve had the Ivy printer for 3 or 4 years (I did a Canon sponsored video and they sent it to me to use on a project on my main channel) and it still works perfectly! With other mobile printers, I’ve struggled to get them to connect and this one has never had problems with that. Minor downsides I can live with: the battery runs out pretty quickly and it sometimes overheats if I print a lot of photos in one sitting, but I leave it plugged in and let it cool for a few minutes after a couple prints and it works well again after that.
