    Man that’s some next level taping. I leave my pink alone and tap together the two middle fingers on my sleeve hand and just the middle finger on my other. What do you think of people who almost never tape? Ono Shohei is pretty notorious for never taping his fingers, although he had an injury recently and placed like a sponge between his two middle fingers

      I would prefer to never tape! I think it makes it harder to grip. But if you do damage a finger then I can't type or work the next day so it's a good trade off. Your joints will be stronger if you don't tape. But I came from the era of small thick gis. Ono has had the luxury of bigger gis and baggier sleeves. I also used to have a pad between my fingers it helps keep the right alignment for you bones so you don't keep damaging your joints. I had that the last year of my career because of a bad break on my pinky.

      Travis Stevens yeah I’ve started taping less and gripping better for it. Also I’ve heard the argument that it makes your grip stronger so I do uchikomi or light days with no tape and just tape for randori.

      What does a "pad between fingers" look like? I can't seem to find it.

    tapping my fingers is what I do when I am distracted, taping my fingers is what I do before bjj class

    Finally. How about lower down...avulsion fracture...middle finger sleeve hand (L)...I double X with more focus on the fractured side is how I do it based on trial and error. Sleeve hand more jacked up than lapel hand.

    That's great, thinking forward for just casual hobbyist who plays guitar. I wonder though, do the loose long straps of tape never cause issues like sticking or ripping off or something weird?

    Having all that type around the knuckles doesn’t that restrict your ability to grip properly?

      A bit, but you don't overtighten in too much so it's okay;

    Hey Travis, do you think it will help my capsulits if I tape only my pinky's outer joint in that figure 8? I have it because of shime waza, thanks in advance.

    • @androthsatyr
      @androthsatyr 6 месяцев назад

      Hey man, not Travis but if you allow me to answer - it will help but if the issue is in the outer joint, I'd recommend buddy-taping the pinky to the ring finger. I had pretty big issues with my main finger joint on the pinky and buddy taping it and training helped me a lot.
