The editing for this video is just spot on. Amazing pacing in the way you give excellent examples while still giving them time to breathe and express the points you're trying to convey. Awesome video!
I love this channel. I feel like I've gotten more information about filmmaking from this channel than I did when studying film in college. I love all the content you put out here. Thank you.
I think the movie Twister (1996) has one of the best dinner scenes in cinema history. It really communicated a shared experience through the close up shots, and punched some great emotional scenes.
absolutely brilliant 'best dinner scenes in movies' ! a micro view of all moviemaking is about... was completely flabbergasted when the chaplin bread dance appeared at the end cause I could just put it all together... the video essay could keep on with chaplin for another half an hour on that dinner alone... thanks, the experience of deconstructing and analysing dinner scenes did enhance the appreciation... cheers from Rio - italian dinner will be served shortly.
My favorite dinner scene is the one in "The Party" where Peter Sellers character is trying to eat his chicken with his knife and fork and it somehow flies onto this lady's hair in front of him and then Steve Franken who played the waiter goes to retrieve the chicken, but ends up taking the lady's wig with him and sets the chicken and wig onto Seller's character's plate. Also, the scene where Franken is serving the guests salad using his hands instead of the tongs.
It’s not a dinner table per day but the seating arrangement in the study room in the show community perfectly reflects the characters and how they play on each other
Just just it's one of my favorite movies, what do you think of the dinner scene in Sicario? Gets me emotionally every damn time! Great video as always. Mucho amor
You chose some great examples of dinner scenes that were more than just something for the actors to do while talking and actually advanced the plots of their movies but one other example that I would have included is the dinner scene in Alien which ended with the introduction of the title character.
The other Voice Over made all the difference in your videos... is not that this one is bad, just not on the same level. That voice made the videos stand out from all youtube generic stuff
I am very much interested in shooting dinner scenes. Thankyou and can you do Alfred Hitchcock directing style just once. Because you've never mentioned him in past few episodes.
If you want to see more dinner scenes czech cinema is a full menu, I've binge watched a lot of them and I've never seen so many movies with scenes with food and/or people at the table.
I start with medium 2 shot Then followed by close ups Then over the shoulder Then breaking the 180 degree shots Then inserts shot which will help in editing
@@StudioBinder noop Depends on the mood and situations I shall use different lens colour grades costumes Then go with differnt shots You people are amazing studio binders
How they portrait the politicians when they want to conquer a country how for them it's just like ordering food from a menu , the dialogue the acting the laugh , it's just amazing , what do you think?
This is probably not a well-known movie in US. Let the Bullets Fly (2005) has one of the most extraordinary dinner scene. It flies into my brian when seeing this title.
If the creators of this amazing youtube channel want to really trascend as the place on the internet where every film lover discovers how to learn the important things abouts this craft, they should start using scenes from movies done all around the world. I love this channel, but the aproach is only based in american(Hollywood) movies , there are multiple ways to see all the concepts they talk about on their videos, not only the american(Hollywood) way. Please spread your mind StudioBinder, we will all win. Thank you.
I wouldn’t say you missed it but the movie ‘Novecento’ 1900 by Bernardo Bertolucci - where you can see the hard working people eating like a family, the lighting was the sunset and it was nothing but joy. Than switched scenes to the fascist landowners where the family was arguing and they had no sun so they had to use candles for lighting.

Had no idea dinner scenes could be so elaborate!
Just the nature of filmmaking 👌
The dinner scene between Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in the heat is a masterpiece!
It was a... heated conversation
They were just having a cup of coffee, like a couple regular guys......

Agreed, it's a classic!
"And hey, if you're ever on a film set and someone tells you it's just a dinner scene, maybe it's time you excused yourself".. well done as usual SB!

Let me guess: blocking and staging?...
Yes, and more 😉

Loved it, Sicario would've been a good scene to break down too
I know this is a series and not a film, but the family dinner from Fleabag is one of the most entertaining scenes I’ve watched
That counts too!
I can watch this channel all day long!
Thank you so much to collecting these dinner scenes. I am straggaling to edit my table scene and looks like it gives me some idea.
Not a "Dinner Scene" but that eating scene in "A Ghost Story" stayed with me.
What did you like most about the scene?
@@StudioBinder The feeling of anger, grief, sadness of the woman and the contemplation of the ghost gave me 2 perpectives about that kind situation

Not just a dinner scene!

Do all director shoot a master shot first? Is it mandatory to shoot that master shot completely?
That's common but it's not mandatory at all. Every director has their own approach and it seems the best adapt to the scene
can you please put the title of the movie when you show the clip so that we can also know where that scene came from... please please
Titles are on the lower right corner
