    This is assuming the country even has a japanese community. I don't think there would be enough of them in the Netherlands for example, haha. There was a Indonesian guy in a comment section somewhere and he complained that dutch women were cold and didn't date him when he was living here...I expect he came here thinking he was quite a fan. Reality is, it's probably far harder than dating in your own country. Not knowing the signals and when you are flirting and when you are coming across as creepy.

      @@dreadinside654 They don't dislike asian men at all but dutch women do not get hit on in the way many other countries do so if you are just on vacation you will probably not have much luck. Men tend to ask out girls they already know.
      Meaning before they get that far they know their name and what they are like and if they get along, then they may ask them out. It would be hard to get that far with a tourist.

      I think it's hard in general to date people from other community, unless you live in U.S. where it's normalized to some extent. Maybe it's because of U.S. Media that have a multicultural emphasis, people think it's somewhat doable.

    • @Iflie
      @Iflie 10 месяцев назад

      @@sumansaha295 Well I think in the U.S people have lots of cultural issues with communities who have lived in the same country for hundreds of years. It's silly to then imagine it would be easy with someone from another country , especially given how little they often know about it.
      It's easier if the cultures are similar. I think it takes many people a good while to adjust to dutch culture. Especially if you want to date. Some may have an advantage while others a disadvantage. But all of them would have to be okay with dutch outspoken, matter of fact, take it or leave it dutch women if they want to date those.

It became apparent that the secret to finding a beautiful Japanese wife is the same in many parts of the world, become successful and wealthy. I think dating in another country is difficult in the same way. From my perspective, Asian dating culture is different from Western, gonna use my example, I'm Brazilian, if you meet someone in the bar, find someone interesting, you go, talk, see if the things go well and you can go the hotel in the same night, if not, at least some kisses you get, but Japan? No no no. But as Hyatt said, if Japanese women are in western, they are more open to other people, so they can get along more easily, but it doesn't mean that you can date them the same way as in the West. But he got a point, he's not wrong about searching outside Japan.

    It's normal that foreigners stick together. The white people do it, the Africans or Arabs do it.
    That's why I avoided expats like the plague when I lived in Indonesia. I didn't want to be a guest, I wanted to be a respectful guest.
    I did try the same in Japan. But because I only know a few phrases and 50-100 words in Japanese, it's difficult. I really wanted to talk to the older people, they are usually the kindest. Maybe because of their age or because they didn't leave Japan much, they sincerely seem interested to talk to gaijin like me.
    As for women:
    I NEVER saw more confident women than in Japan. Unlike anywhere else in the world, they didn't seem to care at all about men.
    Now, keep in mind, I didn't come to Japan because I was expecting to meet girls. Even in Indonesia where I lived, being white barely turns heads anymore. And I wouldn't like that either. I assume Japanese wouldn't want to be liked, simply because they are exotic?
    Still, I was surprised that Japanese women didn't seem to care about Japanese men!! Men and women mainly seem to live separately. Sure, you do see couples, you do see flirting. But many, many people gave me this feeling that they are ok with just the friends of their own gender. Or work. Or hobbies.
    I definitely am no expert on Japanese customs and culture. But my impression was (and I have a high EQ) that Japanese are sort of..two-faced? I don't mean this in a bad way. Just that Japanese may smile at you or each other. But it's Japan! Nihon! People may smile on the outside, but the subtext may happen in body language, eye contact. People most likely would never openly say bad things to you. As one Japanese to another, I feel you don't have to. A Japanese will FEEL or understand that if for example their boss says with a smile "it's ok, Goto-san, everyone makes mistakes" that the actual meaning id "we recommend you quit and leave this company, you're a disgrace".
    To me, that's fascinating. Because I would assume that even for Japanese, this must be confusing or unclear at times.
    My biggest advice: NEVER judge a culture. You may disagree and that's fine. Nobody forces you to be ok with it or live it. But remember that Japanese might also feel YOUR culture is wrong. Or that what you do as normal is weird.
    We all see things from our own culture or perspective. And to really at least understand and respect a culture, you need a ton of empathy and sensitivity.
    And even then, I doubt any of us can ever completely understand a foreign culture and live it the way a local would.
    But that doesn't mean that you can't at least be tolerant and polite. People will forgive foreigners some cultural mistakes because we are seen like blank sheets that way. That's good for that, but of course bad if we would want to be like a local. Which I think we can never be 100%.
    As for girls: It's true that sheng nu (Chinese for lost women, women who are not married yet at 30+) are seen as problematic.
    And I actually understand it.
    If you think about it, women always have way more options than guys. And they don't have to do much to be asked out or maybe even proposed to.
    So if a woman didn't marry by 30, it doesn't mean she is evil. It does mean however that she doesn't want the things the parents generations would expect, like marrying young, having kids and not really focusing on work/a career.
    Personally, I actually think a family is more rewarding than some career. But I don't blame women to choose work. Great if that makes them happy. But I also don't blame those parents or guys if they don't want those women. Men want someone who likes if we can take care of them and protect them. Women who prefer to work or don't want a family as much as even many men do just don't fit that.
    So my advice to women: Think what you really want. Your company doesn't really care about you. They will replace you when u retire.
    A husband may not care either (depends who you choose). Even kids may not. But what do you want?
    The bottom line: If a woman didn't marry after 30, it simply means she has her focus on other things. That does mean though that even if she married later, her family will not be her focus, her husband will not be. Because she isn't used to that she had spent her life with a different focus. So make sure your focus is the same.

    How are Japanese women about Half Asian / Half White? I look like 80's anime style, like Duke Togo and Kenshiro. Like really half blend with brown skin. Maybe they like the half White guys that really look more European? I might still look too Asian, hahaha!

      @@PaulVonLoren I might be in Japan in a few weeks for business. I'm gonna find out, man. I've been looking at 'handsome Japanese lists' and we don't match. I think Hiroshi Abe is super handsome, but he doesn't rank anywhere. And I read it took him years to get picked up because he looks so diffierent. And he's not even mixed. I'll probably end up finding a mixed-Japanese girl to chill with, or maybe a Korean. Part of it is the Gen-Z aegyo thing. I might look too macho. Hard thing about our type of look is that its usually not manly enough for Western women, but it can be too manly for Asian women. Maybe I should find otaku girls who are into 80's manime, hahaha!

    • @PaulVonLoren
      @PaulVonLoren 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@oodo2908 well Im confused since you said «not manly enough for Western women», since those anime characters you mention is, while its hard to visualise anime characters as real people. You look like Hiroshi Abe?
      I have been lucky here in Europe where Im from (Im around 6 foot in american height) and with chinese and koreans here, and mainland chinese girls (I speak mandarin), so if I got a japanese haircut and shaved every day I would fit in somewhat in East Asia since Im mixture between masculine and pretty.
      I hope you have a good trip! Not sure how you look, but remember there are 126 million japanese and around half is females! So I think you will find at least some women there!

    • @oodo2908
      @oodo2908 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@PaulVonLoren I don't look like Hiroshi Abe, but he has what you might call Western features unusual to Asians. He might be part Ainu. I'm actually really close to Duke Togo (Golgo 13), just look friendlier, no wrinkles, and a big forehead. Western women just don't dig me. If they do, they usually have some kind of Celt or Spanish DNA.
      Asia is a different story though. Over here I'm handsome and 5'10" is ok. Since my blend is so 50/50 no one can tell what my blend is. Korea was a breeze for me. I get along better with them than FIlipinos (my Asian half).
      China, I got treated better than the other foreign guys, but they were still not good. I made friends easily with the Chino Muslims and Mongolians though.
      I"ve been to Japan once, but it was around 20 years ago. The only girl I clicked with was a gorgeous half-Brazilian.
      In my experience, Chinese and Japanese are iffy. Koreans are go. A lot of them assume I'm half Korean right away. Some think I had a nose job or eyelid surgery.
      I'm not worried about it. Its just a few weeks. Another half Brazilian would be awesome...
