@@Neomatrixology NeoMatrixology Yeah you're probably in a few of those event shots. ^_^ I didn't notice any inaccuracies I don't think, but my own memory of the sequence of all events isn't as fresh as it used to be, in fact I was watching partly to get a bit of a refresher. : ) The only thing I noticed is that we (Paul, etc) pronounced "Anome" like "a gnome"; I think it's said that way in one of the cinematics, too, although I don't remember for sure.

Shame this game isn't around anymore. I only played the game for a bit when I was a kid, but I remember the combat being really unique and the character creation was so cool.
I wish there was a petition to get monolith to reopen servers or for them to recreate the matrix online. I think if they rebooted the servers or made online optional it would be insanely good and because of graphics and fps etc I doubt it would even take much of a modern server

But Sony bought the rights to the game. I'm not certain that Monolith could do anything about the game at all. I was in there all the way from Beta. After they sold it out everything changed. No more live events or anything else. Sony just silently ditched us and shut it down a year later.

Back in the day I read the T2 book, and there it's a bit more implied that every Terminator has it's own basic AI, but Big Daddy Skynet controls them all, like against their own free will, so they themself are slaves. Though they probably don't know or realy understand "reality" any different than how to destroy all humans. At least that's how I understood & vaguely remember it. Nice detail, probably not canon, the book.

Wow I wasn't expecting much from such an old online game in terms of story, but all of this is very intriguing, it would be disappointing to see wachowski siblings to ignore and overlook the events of this game, just because many people don't know about all of it. At this point I'll settle for whatever they end up doing, matrix is such an underappreciated franchise, whereas star wars just won't die. Man if they revived this game with todays technology, I'm sure a lot of people would play it, including me. Heck, I would play it as is if they opened the servers again.

I honestly had my doubts after I watched the resurrections trailer. But after checking out the comments of people saying there’s more to it on that video, it led me to this video. I'm just watching The Matrix Resurrections, I'm 33 mins in, and I was like hold up, there has to be an explanation for this new Morpheus. Thank you my man!
There was a spike after the trailer was released so you're probably right but the coolest part for me is that I started this channel before the Matrix Resurrections was even announced.
The thing is as much as they said it was going to be canon, it didn't truly go anywhere, and no studio is going to be happy with them expecting people to go back and try to follow a story from a now none existent game using just youtube videos and a handful of cutscenes, so it will likely ignore everything or simply redo elements. Stories don't always stay canon even if they originally where, look at star wars, its extended canon universe is now defunct.

I also do not expect the Matrix Franchise to make the same mistakes as Star Wars. Many people forget, or simply don't know, that the *Enter The Matrix* video game had cut scenes the tied directly into Reloaded. A lot of people don't know that the 2nd Renaissance episode of the Animatrix was an expansion of the Matrix comic *Bits & Pieces of Information* Anyway, this Franchise is no stranger to expanding on the other forms of media in the films, and at the very least, the Yahya Abdul Mateen II *Morpheus* casting rumor can easily fit into the assassination story line of Matrix Online, even if it is only referenced in one quick line of dialogue. I'd say there is a far greater chance something is mentioned from the Matrix Online, than it being ignored completely. Either way, won't know until 2022.
Seems like alot of us that were to young to know about the game might seem distant from M4. In 05' I was 12 lol but had watched the trilogy religiously by my freshmen year in 08'
I hope this movie brings matrix online back, or brings in a new matrix game. The original matrix game was amazing and so was the mmo. Miss jumping around the map
yeah with game being shut down for many year's and not many people have even played it i think , its hard to say its cannon to everyone when i doubt most people even know of it in first place or even experienced it.
I built my first PC in 2005 specifically so I could play the Matrix Online (but also other games, and just have a new computer, etc.). Played it for a couple of years, but then got busy with work and a girlfriend, so I unsubscribed (it was $15/mo). I heard they were going to shut it down, and by then I don't think they would even let me restart my subscription, so I was never able to play it again. In the years following a lot of MMOs adopted the free-to-play model, and I've always wondered if that could have extended the lifespan of MxO. The Lord of the Rings Online started in 2007 and is still going; started as a monthly subscription but converted to a F2P a few years in.
i remember to play this game, but in a private server and i was the online one online, so sad....i just went there for half hour i guess, cuz it was all so bugged and no npc or bots to kill , or even quests....

So many people watching the 4th movie don't understand how important this lore is because they didn't even know it existed. A lot of the complaints about Morpheus is especially annoying. I played MXO when Morpheus was killed and I tell everybody that watched the movies but didn't play Enter The Matrix or MXO that they had to look up videos and articles about them to get the full picture of every sequel film.
It isn't lore. Matrix Online is not canon. Neo left Zion alive at some point in a hovercraft in Matrix Online. It should be very obvious to anyone who watched the fourth movie that there's no way that happened in-canon. Morpheus was never said to have been assassinated in Resurrections; it seems more likely he simply died of old age. He certainly lived long enough to become unanimously elected the leader of the humans in the real world.

They didn't. Morpheus was assassinated as a terrorist in Online. In Resurrections he lives to be elected unanimous leader and presumably dies of old age. Online is not canon.
It's really cool to see the story continue in a movie, and not just another remake. Kinda surprised how much of the lore this old cave monkey still remembers :D
That was illuminating. I had a hunch but I have no doubt, the trailer shows the AI Morpheus (frame by frame shows him as a projection), and Trinity is seen reabsorbing the fragments hidden in the Matrix

I only played for a few months during MxO's initial release and I just never continued. I watched your Cinematic video and I was really, terribly, confused. The last half of it was also completely intelligible and incoherent. Is this because MxO didn't have a proper budget to keep going or did they just stop caring? This video definitely gives significantly more understanding of what that video should have shown. I really recommend creating a whole video that gives more significant details for those of us who are hardcore fans. Like... who are those two 'ghost' like avatars that appear with seemingly sociopathic personalities?
Story seems to be quite complex ;P if decide to use just part of it it would be great. 18 years later and actors are still alive;P it would be great to see all of them on the screen. Just finished the oryginal trilogy and I am hyped!:D
Well, having seen two of the new "Resurrection" trailers, and having seen this, I can come upon two conclusions: this explanation of what happens post-Matrix 3 is waaaaaay too complicated to be translated into a movie...a trilogy perhaps, but that would then just go about explaining the plot of a side story that came online then went permanently offline due to lack of interest, and the other conclusion is that the "Resurrection" plot will essentially be "Alien: Resurrection." As far as this explanation goes, there may be some elements from the Matrix Online that makes it into the film, but it will almost guaranteed be minor influences, like an object that existed in both universes or a character who makes a single appearance, similar to how they did it with the Animatrix - you can watch the Matrix trilogy without ever having watched the Animatrix and still understand what's going on, but you'll miss a few moments where they reference the Animatrix. As far as my "Alien: Resurrection" hypothesis, it just came to me while listening to this video. What if it was canon that the machines didn't return Neo's or Trinity's bodies after Matrix 3 and instead experimented on them in a series of laboratory-style tests where Neo and Trinity are cloned/cyberized and set into various scenarios as a means of attempting to manifest an instance of The One, thus allowing a certain faction of machines to have an ultimate weapon to use the next time they force humans to exist in the Matrix, and also having a key weapon to use against enemy machine factions since Neo has his EMP powers. Cyber-Neo's and Cyber-Trinity's can then be mass produced and controlled as "ultimate soldiers," and of course then we can have stereotypical instances of Neo/Trinity trying to get over their existential crises that they're hybrid human/machines. Meanwhile it would make sense if another faction of machines (Machine City) and humans (Zion) are working together since post-Matrix 3, who also have no idea this experiment is taking place, and who then work together to "rescue" Neo and Trinity.
um no, that whole speculative story is way overly convulted as Matrix 4 will have nothing about any of that. Also, FYI Neo never had "EMP Powers", his ability to destroy Sentinals and the Suidice Bomb Mechs was him sending his thoughts " Self destruct, overload! explode!" to the machines which only works due to Neo's mental connection to The Source, he's not suddenly projecting an EMP... the minor cybernetic implants aren't capable of that
Im watching this now and a lot of the stuff like morpheus dying and the machines creating a duplication of him an then him gaining sentience was spot on. Pretty damn close. I wouldnt be surprised if the wachowskis used some of these threads to flesh out the story of matrix 4

I've understood MxO was the canon continuum of the movie trilogy. His current form will die but always return because he can change things at will, The One is the code. So dead isn't dead but more like fragmented to be restored again. It's the reason why the new movie is called Resurrections. He'll die (fragment) but will always come back in a new form, just like Zion. The Architect said so in the 2nd film.
By definition PON is technically canon simply because it was made by The Wachowskis & Warner. It was an official installment the same as Matrix Online in that regard. Semantics aside, in terms of what we all mean by canon being the officially accepted and consistent story, The Matrix Resurrections is crawling with Matrix Online influence at the very least. The opposite end of that spectrum is the fact that Niobe really didn't say anything to directly erase any specific events of the Matrix Online either. No way this game is canon. In the game, it is revealed that at one point Neo left Machine City alive in a hovercraft. Absolutely no way that happened in the movie.
@@jaydupree418 believe it or not, I'm not a simulation theorist with regard to the real world. My experience with astral projection and shared dreaming make simulation theories a bit problematic. It's not something that anyone has actually proven. As usual, the problem is choice...

(Or basically what you said. I'm not splitting hairs on that). The problem is that you didn't say "E Pluribus Unum", you said "E Pluribus Neo". The phrase "E Pluribus Neo" is a bit problematic in that two of the words are Latin (E Pluribus), and the other is Ancient Greek (Neo) or in English, "New". The most direct translation would, therefore, be "Of Many, New", or as you put it, "From the Many, we are New." I suppose that might work with the messianic theme of Neo in the film, considering that Christians consider themselves reborn (or new) upon accepting Christ as their savior, so perhaps people in The Matrix consider themselves "born again" and therefor "new" after accepting Neo as their savior? However, the implication is that they dont need Neo so long as they are together, because of many they are new? That is, of course, assuming that the word Neo is meant to be translated at all. If it is to remain as Keanu Reeves' character's name, then the translation of "E Pluribus Neo" would be either "Of Many, Neo" or "From the many, we are Neo." Either way, it's a silly slogan and makes little sense, in my opinion.

I like the matrix more in general, but the one thing I like more about star wars is they kept the expanded universe and the movies separate.

I hope this movie brings matrix online back, or brings in a new matrix game. The original matrix game was amazing and so was the mmo. Miss jumping around the map
yeah with game being shut down for many year's and not many people have even played it i think , its hard to say its cannon to everyone when i doubt most people even know of it in first place or even experienced it.

I built my first PC in 2005 specifically so I could play the Matrix Online (but also other games, and just have a new computer, etc.). Played it for a couple of years, but then got busy with work and a girlfriend, so I unsubscribed (it was $15/mo). I heard they were going to shut it down, and by then I don't think they would even let me restart my subscription, so I was never able to play it again. In the years following a lot of MMOs adopted the free-to-play model, and I've always wondered if that could have extended the lifespan of MxO. The Lord of the Rings Online started in 2007 and is still going; started as a monthly subscription but converted to a F2P a few years in.

So many people watching the 4th movie don't understand how important this lore is because they didn't even know it existed. A lot of the complaints about Morpheus is especially annoying. I played MXO when Morpheus was killed and I tell everybody that watched the movies but didn't play Enter The Matrix or MXO that they had to look up videos and articles about them to get the full picture of every sequel film.
It isn't lore. Matrix Online is not canon. Neo left Zion alive at some point in a hovercraft in Matrix Online. It should be very obvious to anyone who watched the fourth movie that there's no way that happened in-canon. Morpheus was never said to have been assassinated in Resurrections; it seems more likely he simply died of old age. He certainly lived long enough to become unanimously elected the leader of the humans in the real world.

They didn't. Morpheus was assassinated as a terrorist in Online. In Resurrections he lives to be elected unanimous leader and presumably dies of old age. Online is not canon.

That was illuminating. I had a hunch but I have no doubt, the trailer shows the AI Morpheus (frame by frame shows him as a projection), and Trinity is seen reabsorbing the fragments hidden in the Matrix

I mean the game IS confirmed canon so yeah morpheous DID die, I have very high hopes for this 4th installment in the series.

The game is definitely not canon. Morpheus is dead in both, but for different reasons. The canon is the four films, Animatrix, and Enter the Matrix.

I only played for a few months during MxO's initial release and I just never continued. I watched your Cinematic video and I was really, terribly, confused. The last half of it was also completely intelligible and incoherent. Is this because MxO didn't have a proper budget to keep going or did they just stop caring? This video definitely gives significantly more understanding of what that video should have shown. I really recommend creating a whole video that gives more significant details for those of us who are hardcore fans. Like... who are those two 'ghost' like avatars that appear with seemingly sociopathic personalities?
Story seems to be quite complex ;P if decide to use just part of it it would be great. 18 years later and actors are still alive;P it would be great to see all of them on the screen. Just finished the oryginal trilogy and I am hyped!:D
Well, having seen two of the new "Resurrection" trailers, and having seen this, I can come upon two conclusions: this explanation of what happens post-Matrix 3 is waaaaaay too complicated to be translated into a movie...a trilogy perhaps, but that would then just go about explaining the plot of a side story that came online then went permanently offline due to lack of interest, and the other conclusion is that the "Resurrection" plot will essentially be "Alien: Resurrection." As far as this explanation goes, there may be some elements from the Matrix Online that makes it into the film, but it will almost guaranteed be minor influences, like an object that existed in both universes or a character who makes a single appearance, similar to how they did it with the Animatrix - you can watch the Matrix trilogy without ever having watched the Animatrix and still understand what's going on, but you'll miss a few moments where they reference the Animatrix.
As far as my "Alien: Resurrection" hypothesis, it just came to me while listening to this video. What if it was canon that the machines didn't return Neo's or Trinity's bodies after Matrix 3 and instead experimented on them in a series of laboratory-style tests where Neo and Trinity are cloned/cyberized and set into various scenarios as a means of attempting to manifest an instance of The One, thus allowing a certain faction of machines to have an ultimate weapon to use the next time they force humans to exist in the Matrix, and also having a key weapon to use against enemy machine factions since Neo has his EMP powers. Cyber-Neo's and Cyber-Trinity's can then be mass produced and controlled as "ultimate soldiers," and of course then we can have stereotypical instances of Neo/Trinity trying to get over their existential crises that they're hybrid human/machines. Meanwhile it would make sense if another faction of machines (Machine City) and humans (Zion) are working together since post-Matrix 3, who also have no idea this experiment is taking place, and who then work together to "rescue" Neo and Trinity.
um no, that whole speculative story is way overly convulted as Matrix 4 will have nothing about any of that. Also, FYI Neo never had "EMP Powers", his ability to destroy Sentinals and the Suidice Bomb Mechs was him sending his thoughts " Self destruct, overload! explode!" to the machines which only works due to Neo's mental connection to The Source, he's not suddenly projecting an EMP... the minor cybernetic implants aren't capable of that
I wanted to see blue pills get that message to log off. And the confusion that ensues.
Im watching this now and a lot of the stuff like morpheus dying and the machines creating a duplication of him an then him gaining sentience was spot on. Pretty damn close. I wouldnt be surprised if the wachowskis used some of these threads to flesh out the story of matrix 4

His current form will die but always return because he can change things at will, The One is the code. So dead isn't dead but more like fragmented to be restored again. It's the reason why the new movie is called Resurrections. He'll die (fragment) but will always come back in a new form, just like Zion. The Architect said so in the 2nd film.

By definition PON is technically canon simply because it was made by The Wachowskis & Warner. It was an official installment the same as Matrix Online in that regard. Semantics aside, in terms of what we all mean by canon being the officially accepted and consistent story, The Matrix Resurrections is crawling with Matrix Online influence at the very least. The opposite end of that spectrum is the fact that Niobe really didn't say anything to directly erase any specific events of the Matrix Online either. Gotta be "that guy," and apologies ahead of time for this, "E Pluribus Unum" is Latin for "Of Many, One". (Or basically what you said. I'm not splitting hairs on that). The problem is that you didn't say "E Pluribus Unum", you said "E Pluribus Neo".
The phrase "E Pluribus Neo" is a bit problematic in that two of the words are Latin (E Pluribus), and the other is Ancient Greek (Neo) or in English, "New". The most direct translation would, therefore, be "Of Many, New", or as you put it, "From the Many, we are New." I suppose that might work with the messianic theme of Neo in the film, considering that Christians consider themselves reborn (or new) upon accepting Christ as their savior, so perhaps people in The Matrix consider themselves "born again" and therefor "new" after accepting Neo as their savior?
However, the implication is that they dont need Neo so long as they are together, because of many they are new? That is, of course, assuming that the word Neo is meant to be translated at all. If it is to remain as Keanu Reeves' character's name, then the translation of "E Pluribus Neo" would be either "Of Many, Neo" or "From the many, we are Neo."
Either way, it's a silly slogan and makes little sense, in my opinion.
