In the UK we have an series of shows called Let’s Rock the 80s. It tours all over the country. Last year we had Billy Ocean, Tony Hadley, Belinda Carlisle, Fine Young Cannibals, Wet Wet Wet plus many more. Previously groups like Level 42 The Boomtown Rats, ABC, Soft Cell and many more top acts from our 80s childhood have all performed at these shows. Keep up the great work Kurt. It’s so interesting to see the 80s from a US perspective.
I am glad that Pascal of trans-x was able to make it. Last I heard he was having medical and financial issues and didn’t know if he would make it to the show. I spoke to him years ago after a show he did at that 80s bar. nice guy.
70s Classic Rocker here, but also love the 80s! This event should always be an outdoor show, so it is disappointing to see that Aug 24 of this year in LA, it will not be at The Greek, but indoors at The Peacock Theatre. (Same bill as 2023? Wow)
Your lucky to be near things like this. Maine is boring and hard to see concerts here.. yeah they brought concerts to waterfront concerts in Bangor Maine.. but you know bands like this wouldn't be going to Maine. Slayer hated coming to Bangor maine to play here last time they played I think 2018 or 19.. my friends knows the lead singer from pixies they went to school together in Massachusetts before the lead singer moved ....
It's a trade off. You have less crime, less homelessness, less traffic, lower home prices and lower cost of living. We get cool stuff to do. I'm born and raised here so it's home but you might be getting the better end of the deal.
Do you did you do a video on The Beverly Center itself yet? If memory serves me correctly, it was built about 1980..... A new mall for a new decade for LA! And then I remember, we had a small recession in 1981, & it took a while before all the stores filled up in the mall. Before the mall was there, it was "Kiddle World." My folks would take me there as a kid to go on the rides. I remembered there was a "Kiddie Land" out in Woodland Hills on Topanga Canyon! .... Thought I'd share that with you. 👩🎤😉
Do you see how the 80s had a lot more bands and talented singers? People were recording in analogue still and digital equipment was VERY expensive so you had to be very creative in how you used it. If you listen to many of the synth and keyboard arrangements in the 80s, they were FAR MORE advanced than the 2020s. Look at what David Frank and Nick Martinelli were doing. Plus with new FX like reverb and flange, 12" Pop and R&B mixes were incredible, listen to LaFace and Jam & Lewis remixes. And many people were multi-talented like Narada Michael Walden - singing, playing multiple instruments, songwriting and producing!
This is depressing. It reminds me of when we were kids and they would drag out those relics from the 50's for the concerts on PBS...and can they all play any slower? Belinda was playing Head Over Heels at the same Tempo as I get weak, which is a fucking ballad! I have been critical of the Go Go's live for the past 10 or so years but always blamed Gina...I guess we see who the problem actually is. Criticism of the artists aside the presentation & production of this video was top notch as always...keep up the great work!!!
Belinda Carlisle certainly had a lot of energy and she sounded great. Belinda's video for one of her later hits, "Leave a Light On," is a stunner: In that video, I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful woman. By the way, I still have my 45 of General Public's "Tenderness." It's too bad their audio was off. Keep the 80s coming, Curt, your channel is the best one out there.

I sure hope Missing Persons played more than one song. Walking in L.A. is a great song and they have many other fantastic ones too.
amazing intro.
would have been great to have all the go gos.

🤩fantastic love it
Belinda!!!
🤘🤘🤘🤘
The English Beat still have it!
Wow...I don't know how I keep missing these things
To see Belinda Carlisle alone is worth the ticket, traffic and heat stroke
I saw the Lost 80's Live last year in Chicago. Hung-out with all the singers (have photographs). Stacy Q looked terrible and was intoxicated. 😭
Belinda Owned That Concert

Where all of Corey Feldman's number one hits? Wtf?
That host is terrible. They should hire Kurt to do it next year.
